So, enjoyably, I was trying to finish up a story to post it somewhere between the release of Avengers of Gor and John Norman’s birthday. Er it’s set to post tonight, so I missed that by a week but anyway, the build idea had to do with Gor and a Hellfire Club scenario, or the Order of Saint Francis (I think that was the name of the one that Benjamin Franklin was supposedly part of). The starting idea was that things like Hellfire Clubs still exist (and they’re fascinating), but I wanted to think of ways on how to get one started (wherein people could have a makeshift Gorean slave auction).
This started a lengthy discussion with a friend of mine about the days when you needed invites for AOL private chat rooms (none of this had to do with my idea in the story by the way, since I had to adapt to a modern day scenario), but how these people would find each other in those AOL servers and you had the RPG servers of Gor, where people would have their stats and use that /roll function, right, and this friend was talking about how the private servers were, um, not like that.
I realize that this isn’t the male slave version you probably wanted to hear about, but it also spawned further conversations about how all it would really take is one person who wouldn’t play by the rules to jack up the atmosphere and the level of dedication it would take and how we thought of that on a Nietzsche philosophy level (I blame that part of it on the Gor topic in question).
It sparked some story content that I couldn’t put in a story about starting one of those places, but for later, you know... That slave auction fantasy would take an impressive amount of dedication, which was the coolest part of it to me.
