Soliloquium: Reflections on my World.

You should check out some of the others Frost has done MsA

Thank you for asking me here,Yeishia. I have always admired your threads and hopefully add something to them. Just posting my all time fave poem and author just because it was in my head and loved the movie it was read in. The Outsiders from back in the 80's:)

Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Welcome to my thread Gaia I adore Robert Frost he is a staple in British schools, let me see if I can find my favorite besides this one :rose:

Here it is :)

Asking for Roses

A house that lacks, seemingly, mistress and master,
With doors that none but the wind ever closes,
Its floor all littered with glass and with plaster;
It stands in a garden of old-fashioned roses.

I pass by that way in the gloaming with Mary;
'I wonder,' I say, 'who the owner of those is.'
'Oh, no one you know,' she answers me airy,
'But one we must ask if we want any roses.'

So we must join hands in the dew coming coldly
There in the hush of the wood that reposes,
And turn and go up to the open door boldly,
And knock to the echoes as beggars for roses.

'Pray, are you within there, Mistress Who-were-you?'
'Tis Mary that speaks and our errand discloses.
'Pray, are you within there? Bestir you, bestir you!
'Tis summer again; there's two come for roses.

'A word with you, that of the singer recalling--
Old Herrick: a saying that every maid knows is
A flower unplucked is but left to the falling,
And nothing is gained by not gathering roses.'

We do not loosen our hands' intertwining
(Not caring so very much what she supposes),
There when she comes on us mistily shining
And grants us by silence the boon of her roses.

To see the beauty of a star,
one needs to go out in the night.
ignore the scary dark
to revell at the sight

To find a crystal shining clear
one needs to crush the ugly stone
to find the riches deep inside
wheron no light ever shone

To find the beauty in ones heart
one should look beyond the skin
to see the scars that lie beneath
the spirit that lies within

Hello Yeisia, I thought you might like another poem...

Just a reminder: You are an incredibly talented writer, caring person, very very good spirit. The world in general is better with you in it, and I know that mine is :)

Two renditions.

Breathe Me :rose: Breath me

Sia

Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe

Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me

Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up

I have always struggled with the concept of accepting who I am. I cannot believe the amount of times I have tried to changes the fundamentals of me to please another. Finally, I have come to a place in my life where I am trying to quietly exist as who I really am, to be just me. At the end of each day I can finally go to sleep liking who I am...that was a long time coming I think. I am proud of the small sucesses I am making in loving me... warts and all.:rose:

I found this list today and in stead of posting it in my quotes thread I am including it here as a reminder to myself on the days that self- doubt creeps in.

This quote I might well add to my siggy as a permanent reminder to me :)
My son is ill and I guess I am a bit more introspective than I usually am this week (which is a lot anyways lol)

:rose:

There comes a time when you have to stand up and shout:

This is me damn it! I look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love!

I am a whole complex package. Take me... or leave me. Accept me - or walk away!

Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don't fit your idea of who I should be and don't try to change me to fit your mold.

If I need to change, I alone will make that decision.

When you are strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad - you will be amazed at the opportunities that life presents you with
