Songs/pieces of music that bring tears to your eyes/take your breath away, etc.

She's so good. Have you heard her version of the song Chandelier? My god it's amazingly haunting.

I have and it's wonderful. She's amazing. I'm on shuffle today, and Breathe Again just dropped me to my knees. I just wasn't prepared.
I like her rendition of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road too.

Habits by Tove Lo

This one hits a little closer to home than I would like.

*hugs* to my Rainy--and yes I will have to go listen to that now.

It's musical marathon today. I put on Mama Mia for it's sheer cheesy, lighthearted fun.

Then came this song. Slipping Through My Fingers.

I know that day is coming, circle of life, yada, yada, yada. Still hit me in the gut like a sledgehammer.

*wipes tears*

I made the mistake of renting to an 80's cover band. In the 80s. The Keyboardist had invited Gabriella over to "study" meaning get her proximate so he could show off. She was annoyed with him and hanging out in the kitchen with me when they played this song. She like her entire generation was a top gun fan. I asked her to dance. We dated a year or so.

Decoder Ring

Sia-Breathe

30 Seconds to Mars-Modern Myth (this one is actually really great and heavy)

Weak!

Song to the Siren

Stevie Nicks-Beauty and the Beast

Cat Power-Greatest

There are certainly others. I tend to go for stuff that relieves the angrier sadness in me, as opposed to melancholy stuff but...these are the saddest on my personal playlist. :cattail:

Sia - Breathe gets me every damn time. :(

In Too Deep by Genesis

And pretty much all Peter Gabriel. I love his voice, but his music just seems to make me sad.

Fruit Tree, Nick Drake. The lyrics, the voice, the mistakes that tell you all you need to know even if you don't know his life story.

My God.
