Songs/pieces of music that bring tears to your eyes/take your breath away, etc.

Someone entered into my life…and for the first time, I felt powerful, intoxicating, connective energy that I had only before dreamed of, or read about. And just like that, we parted. Much time had passed, and out of nowhere, he appeared once again. And just like that, we parted.

Only the powers that be know whether I will ever see him again, although my intuition tells me that I will not, and I am so very much at peace with that. I am just so very happy knowing that he is a part of this world.

If there had ever been any doubt long ago when he first came into my life, all has been erased, for I know, now, that he is, indeed, my soulmate…

I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go.
I cursed the gloom that set upon us...
But I know that I love you so.

These are the seasons of emotion, and like the winds, they rise and fall.
This is the wonder of devotion, I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient, upon us all a little rain must fall…

Led Zeppelin ~ The Rain Song

Some one very very close to me ...who I loved very much...but for reasons beyond both our of our control...we couldn’t continue living and loving the way it was going...He left me a CD on my door step...with a note...that said play song 11...It was , The Rain Song...:rose:

I just felt my heart break...

Thank you so much for sharing that...

(Hugs) :rose:

Tears to the eyes:

Sinead O'Connor, Lullaby for Cain - god, I love her voice.
John Murphy, In The House - In A Heartbeat - I encountered this in "28 Days Later" around the time somebody close to me died, so it picked up strong associations for me
Gary Numan, A Prayer For The Unborn - GN's not exactly known for writing happy songs, but this one is heartbreaking. (TW - miscarriage)

Other take-my-breath-away songs:

Rasputina, The New Zero - I haven't had much luck getting into her other stuff, but this has just the right level of weirdness for me.
James, Getting Away With It (All Messed Up]: melancholy and yet very soothing

.

Songs that bring tears to my eyes (okay, maybe not literally):

"Stolen" - Lucie Silvas

"Love of My Life" - Queen

"Leaving Paris" - Craig Armstrong (instrumental – solo piano)

Pieces of music that take my breath away (again – maybe not literally):

"The Earth Prelude" - Ludovico Einaudi

"My Name is Lincoln" - from "The Island" soundtrack - Steve Jablonsky

"Now We Are Free" - from "Gladiator" soundtrack - Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard

End Titles music from the film "Independence Day" (1996) - David Arnold

Your suggestions – for other similar pieces of music – would be welcome...

.
"Unchained Melody"

Jason Mraz - I won't give up
this song has evolved from a tear filled break up song...to a tear filled survival song...:rose:

Happy Birthday to the one and only...

Stevie Nicks - Wild Heart

Where is the reason
Don't blame it on me
Blame it on my wild heart
As to the seasons...you fought from the beginning...long before I knew it
There was a danger
And the danger was to fall in love

"Ritornare" - by Ludovico Einaudi - It's just over nine minutes long... I'd say it's... kind of... dreamy... evocative... contemplative... breathtaking... anodyne... soulful... I don't know... just... beautiful...

But it's a piece of music you will appreciate more if you've listened to the rest of his "Divenire" album - he explores/expounds on themes introduced in the other pieces in the same album...

If I can take credit for introducing at least one person to Einaudi's music, I'll be happy!

Well, I have his lovely soundtrack to Doctor Zhivago. Beautiful stuff.

U2-All I Want Is You

Instead of the official video I posted the lyrics one. The video is enough to make you cry in itself.

The lyrics to this always make me thing of my wife. That feeling I use to get when I would see her. The racing of my heart....

Gravity~ by Sara-Bareilles

I try to not cry but darnit, can't make it through the whole song without some tears.....:(

For me, that song will always be Casimir Pulaski day by Sufjan Stevens. There aren't words to describe how I felt when I first heard that song.

Honey by Andy Williams. Sorry, don't know how to link it.

I was listening to an old burned CD from years and years ago that I found the other day. It just said "my stuff". This song was on it. It took my breath away and it probably always will...

The Commodores - Still
