Space for Whatchamacallits

Brit, this speaks to me on two levels.

My Darling, and a friendship that went sour very recently.

Thank you, sweetness.

Anytime lovely.

hugs

I loved it for how it aligned with my own relationships...and then I thought of you and yours in the next moment. Glad you liked it.

Good morning all you lovely people! Enjoy your weekend, your half weekend, or this moment right here!!

*knocks tentatively*

Can I come in?

opens door to a brightly lit, airy space all nice and chilled out for the weekend

Of course you can! Come in, make tea, make cocktails, make nice things with sugary goodness!

You are so very welcome.

peeks in to leave some fresh strawberries for everyone, along with oodles of cream and some hugs, just because...

Celebrating Midsummer here...although it's rainy and rather cold, the time with the family is always lovely!
Hope everyone's weekends are going well!

smiles at Essie

And hello there!

*smiling at Pretty and Brit*

Thank you!

*digging into bag*

I made some lemon & ginger slices, didn't want to come empty handed. Would go rather nicely with a cup of tea, pretty gloomy weather here today.

*looking round*

Can I sit anywhere or do people have specific seats? Don't want to get growled at...

laughs

Sit wherever you like, there are only shadowy corners here whenever someone desires it. This space can be whatever you want. Besides. Who needs specific seats? Sit somewhere different, meet someone new and fabulous!

Speaking of fabulous people...

hugs Brit tightly

Hello my darling! Thank you for the strawberries, and happy Midsummer to you! I just have a feeling deep down that today is going to be magical...

*spotting a comfortable looking leather sofa with big squashy cushions*

Ooh, that looks like just the ticket.

Can I get anyone a drink? Hmm, fresh strawberries... I do think champagne is in order, ladies :)

I like the way you think, Essie. And it's almost lunchtime for me, so a strawberry and champagne lunch would be just splendid.

puts on her splendid hat for just such an occasion

It is Midsummer, after all.

hugs Serps back with a smile and pops across to hug Essie while she's at it, one can never have enough hugs

Always a pleasure to pop in here, lovely. I've been crazily busy - story of my life! - but the holidays are just around the corner and I can't wait!

And champagne sounds divine!

drops onto a conveniently placed bean bag with a happy sigh

Hugs Brit back, touched by the warm welcome

Right. Brit - can you chop the strawberries? Pretty - you look like you're in the right outfit to pour champagne. I shall put out the slices with lashings of cream.

Rummaging in bag to see if a similarly festive hat is lurking in the bottom but only coming up with a handful of crumpled tissues, some screwed up tin foil and a small sachet of soy sauce

Yay!

flounces around in her dress, pouring champagne and placing the pretty flutes on the coffee table, making sure there is a nicely ironed embroidered place setting for everyone

Ooh, never mind that soy sauce. I think it's from my sushi the other night.

I should point out that I adore sushi. When Boyfriend was over visiting we went out and had sushi in a little Pan Asian place in Belfast, it was so lovely. I ate so much, we went back to the hotel and I had to take a nap while he watched Top Gear... It's kind of funny.

But it's okay. After I woke up we managed to have lots and lots of... cake. Cos that's what people do in hotel rooms...

grins and blushes

Sounds like a plan!

bounces up to chop up the red fruit into a large crystal bowl, fighting the urge to lick the juice from her fingers in the process, and bringing it back to the others along with smaller bowls, spoons and a small jug with thick, thick cream - spying some flowers in a vase and figuring two won't go amiss, plucks two stems and hands one to Essie with a wink before tucking the other into her hair

Ta-daa!

And I always have cake in hotel rooms.

giggles

Sneakily licking little dots of cream off fingers from not so careful dollopage

No, that was in my bag. Oh, I love sushi. Though tend to stick to tuna. Had very bad experience with teriyaki sushi once... turns slightly green at the memory

I find the most random things in my bag. Discovered a burnt out lightbulb once. Can't remember where that came from.

Shrugging shoulders, accepts pretty flower from Brit and carefully puts plate in middle of table then nodding in agreement with the conversation

Oh, you're right. Nothing like being on holidays, buying a nice piece of cake or something decadent in a little bakery then going back to your hotel room and enjoying it later. A little treat for yourself.

Hearing muffled giggles, looks confused

What? What did I say?

Yeah, well, my cake was definitely a treat. A not-so-little one.

sits back in her chair, reminiscing

Only five months to go, girls, until I see him again.

Anyway! What's happening in everyone's real worlds today?

Five months will go by so very fast, I promise!

And as for me...today has been filled with nothing overly thrilling. The weather means it's been a day for being indoors but...there's still plenty to do.
So have been editing some photos and working on my story outlines ready for NaNo next month!

bounces excitedly

What's NaNo? I really need someone to light a fire under my butt to write again. I'm reading so much these days, maybe it'll be a lot of input to fuel my output. I miss writing sometimes, I get so few ideas anymore...

Ooh, ooh, I know this one!

joins Brit in the excited bouncing

NaNo is National Novel Writing Month, right?

stops bouncing

But I thought it was in November?

I'm settling in for the end of my day - been working at home all day, now about to eat reheated leftover Chinese food and watch reruns of CSI:NY on TV.

sighs sadly

Oh yeah, living the dream...

Hey, reheated Chinese food is awesome.

CSI:NY on the other hand... I'm more into the likes of Game of Thrones, Hannibal, Penny Dreadful... True Blood is my latest binge-fest. Three seasons in a week.

I can't really decide what I want to do today. I'd love to write, but I am suffering from such severe writers block these days. I should probably start thinking about lunch soon.

You're right, Essie. It is in November.

But they also run Camp NaNoWriMo in April and July where you set your own word count and you can write anything from a script to a biography to a comic.
It's a lot freer and good fun. You get put into cabins with other writers and it helps keep morale up.

I did NaNo last November for the first time and then did the Camp in April too.

grins shyly

I needed to make myself write. And it worked too!

nod nods
