Spotlight on GooodGurrl

Brisbane, Queensland. I do like the sun. And I love the laidback, easy going-ness of QLD. Plus I have relatives there I don't get to see very often.[/I])
I think you should definitely move to Brisbane! Though Queensland isn't as laidback as it used to be, unfortunately :(

But I digress! I've got a pictorial question for you. I took this pic in the Melbourne CBD last week. Do you know where I took it? You'd think it might be a toilet door in an adult cinema or something like that, but the business has nothing directly to do with adult entertainment.

Buy me a house, I'll be right up! ;)

You have me stumped. I giggled at the sign, but I don't recognise it.

Why do you define your personality as "dicey?"

Wow, that's a difficult one.

Not sure, really. It's just... I have a strange personality that seems to put a lot of people off. As opposed to my online persona, very few people in real life see me this way. I'm actually quite introverted and socially awkward in a way that I never feel online. In that way... sometimes I am very unaware of social cues and subtleties, I don't read things the right way, so my responses are often the wrong ones. People as a group generally don't like "other" or "different" and so I'm just used to being sidelined. I have close friends who get me, that I'm comfortable around, and we have a good time.

But not everybody sees that part of me.

So, in that way, my personality is "dicey". It's hit or miss with me, most people miss.

Buy me a house, you say. You wouldn't settle for an apartment ;)

Yeah, I had a laugh at the sign too, so I just had to take a pic! It's actually on the external toilet door at an internet café in the city. Very few people seemed to notice the sign, which was strange, I thought.

(Most people here are somewhat dicey by the way. Especially pmann. I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Also, do you watch My Kitchen Rules?

Hell the bracket is left open - Rainshine does mean everyone !!!

and oi, is pmann PaleTurquoise or Wheat? - just curious - I thought someone used the word Mocha recently??!?

"Teams, today, we asked you to cook your ultimate romantic meal"

.

Well, arrangements can be made. I'm very accomodating. :p

Do you think that's part of why you have really embraced a pic thread? That it allows you a freedom to let loose with an audience looking at your body, not what you feel is your "dicey" personality? (Most people here are somewhat dicey by the way. Especially pmann. I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Also, do you watch My Kitchen Rules?

Not much into reality TV. I watch some fantasy shows, some light sci-fi, comedy and some crime procedurals (though, technically, it's a bit of a stretch to call Rizzoli & Isles a crime show, even *if* it set in BPD Homicide ;) ). Other shows I need to catch up on include: Pretty Little Liars, Modern Family, Community.

I think the reasons I've embraced the pic thread are many. Definitely the reason you've stated above. Added to that is that I have a pretty negative self esteem, especially when it comes to my body. The pic thread has been wonderful in terms of alleviating a lot of my body issues. I've also been discovering a bit of an exhibitionist streak, so that's always fun.

Poor pmann, the guy takes a beating

;)

Toasted ham and cheese do for everyone?

Well it's good you're getting something positive out of Lit so far. I've thought about doing it once or twice but always decide against for various reasons. I kind of admire those that just go for it.

Now.... some easy ones...

1. You're favourite possession.
2. Social media and your kids, yay or nay?
3. Best gift you've ever received?
4. Do you prefer wood, tile or carpet flooring?
5. If you could only listen to ONE song for the rest of your days, what would it be?

It's not for everyone. But you're pretty much guaranteed a good reaction if you do.

1. Ohh, that's an easy one? If we're talking physical possessions, then I would say my laptop. It pretty much has my life on it.

2. Tricky. My kids are much too young at the moment to worry about this issue. I would like to keep them from it as long as I can. In an ideal world, they wouldn't go on it. But, realistically, given that it is so intrinsically linked to socialisation... it's foolish to think that they won't eventually get there.

I think the key is to give them the tools to be able to master the internet and the various social media sites themselves. I mean, I did. So it is possible. Of course, I will supervise them when they first begin... but I think they do need a a very good bullshit metre, a grasp of what is and isn't okay to put online. I will "friend" them in their early years.

My nephew is 16 and he's friended me on facebook. Yeah, he and his friends post a lot of puerile junk, but they ARE sixteen and I know to mostly ignore that stuff. I can do it with him, I can do it with my kids. Give them the tools to master the tech and they will. Kids are very savvy if you let them be.

3. The best one? Okay... I have to say it would be the mother's day gift I got last year. Given that I'm by myself, any gift to me from my kids is usually something token I pick up and let them wrap and hand back... it's for them, really... but last year was my eldest kid's first year of school and they had a mother's day stall. So my kid took some money to school and bought something without me knowing what it was. It was hidden from me for a week, until mother's day came about, and presented with great flourish and excitement. I received a pink pen that said "I love you to the moon and back", a little glass figure and a heart shaped container of red and pink jelly beans (which my kid *knows* I don't eat, and so got to eat them... sneaky). I think the small things, the little things that mean so very much, this was the best thing. The best gift. The excitement about actually getting something to surprise me, to show they care. That's what I cherish.

4. Wood. I have floorboards throughout my entire house. It's much easier to keep clean. No carpet stains or anything, no tile grouting. Just clean shiny wood floors. A steam mop and a broom keep it in shape.

5. Really? No... REALLY? I don't knoooo-oooooooooooooooooooo-ooowwww. "When You're Good to Mama" - Queen Latifah.

Wait... no... "Just a Girl" - No Doubt.

Wait... oh...

Grrrr to you. I can't pick just one!!!

These are both songs that give me empowerment by singing them. Like, you cannot be in a bad mood after singing them full boar at the top of your lungs. You just can't. :D

hi GG, i very rarely spend time on ampics so i haven't seen your thread: i only know you from what few posts i've seen in how to.

as usual, i'm going to start with the bernard pivot questions...

1. what is your favorite word?
2. what is your least favorite word?
3. what turns you on [creatively, spiritually or emotionally]?
4. what turns you off?
5. what is your favorite curse word?
6. what sound or noise do you love?
7. what sound or noise do you hate?
8. what profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
9. what profession would you not like to do?
10. if heaven exists, what would you like to hear god say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

Interesting choice of TV shows, so I have to ask...what do you like to read, favorite books, authors?

My favourite book of all time would have to be "Shogun" by James Clavell, I've read it countless times and always end up returning to it.

More contemporary, I've been reading The Hunger Games and Harry Potter, the Tess Gerritsen crime books, I tried to get into the Divergent series, but just couldn't...

In general, I like to read a good crime/detective/suspense novel. James Patterson and Thomas Harris often fit that bill.

*cracks knuckles* Okay, here we go...

1. I have to have a favourite? Really? 'What is your favourite molecule of oxygen to breathe?' Nope, cannot do it. Though, if pushed, at this very second, I would say "Really".

2. Panties. Honestly. It's a ridiculous word. When I'm writing, I try to avoid it as long as possible. Just... kinda... write around it. ;)

3. A good sense of humour. If you have that, a lot of the other things will fall into place.

4. Ignorance and mulish refusal to do anything about it.

5. I'm going to have to be very unoriginal and say "fuck". When I'm driving, I tend to say "fucknugget" a lot.

6. Kid's laughter.

7. People chewing loudly and/or wetly. Like, gross dude, no. I don't need to hear that, just keep it to yourself.

8. I'd love to teach.

9. I... don't really know. Something with a metric fuckton of responsibility.

10. Ooops, sorry, I really fucked up your life, didn't I?

I received a pink pen that said "I love you to the moon and back", a little glass figure and a heart shaped container of red and pink jelly beans (which my kid *knows* I don't eat, and so got to eat them... sneaky).

Bwhahaha. Shit that made me laugh out loud. Clever little kid. :D

1. What would you say is your best personality trait?

2. Worst?

3. Best physical trait?

4. Worst?

GG, i always enjoy reading people's answers to spotlight questions and you're no exception.

i have a few follow-ups:

11) you've been on lit for a while and with ampic threads there are almost always the odd, kinda creepy person. what's the most oddball pic someone has asked you to post in your thread?

12) i heartily approve of your crush on angie harmon, been crushing on her myself for a few years. are you bi, just have girl crushes, something else?

13) i noticed that you said you're a fan of joss whedon. what's your favorite whedon TV show (agents of shield not included)*?

14) did you start watching game of thrones because it seemed interesting, you wanted to see how the adaptation from written fiction was handled, or something else?

15) you mentioned your turn off was " ignorance and mulish refusal to do anything about it." what is the most egregious example of such you can recall having encountered that you're interested in sharing?

16) what did you think of the film adaptations of the 2 hunger games films to date?

17) who do you admire more/dislike less: katniss or hermione? :D

18) if you were a hunger games tribute, what would be your strategy to winning? similarly: into what house would the sorting hat sort you?

19) what do you consider to be your best physical feature?

20) what would people viewing your ampic thread be most surprised to learn about you?

ed

*behold my sig. :D

1. What would you say is your best personality trait?

3. Best physical trait?

4. Worst?

1. I'm pretty accepting. Anything goes. I mean, I might get a tad judgmental if you were murdering or fucking little kids, but... other than that, bygones.

2. I'm pretty lazy.

3. ... this is a hard one, because I don't really know. Weeks ago, I really would have struggled to come up with one... but after exploring some of the pics for my pic thread, I would have to say my spine. Lookit! My profile pic, lookit those erector spinaes, hot dayum!

4. Wayyyy too many to list. But... the spaces underneath my eyes. Or my hair.

11. Not sure if I've been here long enough to have oddball questions. I get *direct* requests of things people want to see... whether I put them up or not is another question... but oddball? Not yet, I mean, it's not like someone's asked for a photo of my right big toe covered in jam or anything.

12. Hell yeah, Angie Harmon. I mean, jfc, slap a gun holster on her, give her a gun, give her that Rizzoli swagger and she could have me any way she wanted me. All night long.

And yes, very, very bi. ;)

13. My favourite Joss Whedon show? That's... that's like asking which one is my favourite *child*! You can't do that! I don't have a favourite. I love them all equally... differently perhaps... but equally. I adore Buffy, she was my first, then came Angel... I hesitated much too long on Firefly (I mean, really, how dare Joss leave the other shows to work on.. what... space *cowboys*?! Offensive!), but then once I did watch it I adored it. I did. I fell into that world hard core. And Dollhouse was beautiful in its gumption. I think it tried to do too much, given what its restrictions were, but it tried and that's what counts.

I know I would like Agents of Shield, I know, but... I haven't the energy to devote to another fandom right now. But I have it in the back of my mind for when I do.

14. I cannot quite remember now exactly what drew me in. It looked pretty good, it was getting some good reviews... and I think there was lots of pictures of boobies on my tumblr dash. So I caved. And I adored it. I've started reading the first book, but the tv series definitely came first.

15. Now you're putting me on the spot. I can't think of an exact example right now. I think just bigotry and intentional ignorance is what turns me off. Nobody knows *everything*, that's just impossible, but you should have the ability and the willingness to change your mind or to learn something new if you can, if the opportunity arises.

16. I really did like them. I read the books first, but only because the movies were about to be released. There's something universal about that struggle, I believe. I think the media is glossing over the most important themes in both the movies and the books, to focus on a "love triangle" that the main character herself does not even care about... but hey, that's kinda par for the course there. There were a few minor and major changes from the books to the movies, but it is a difficult transition, given that the books are mainly coming from the internalised thoughts of Katniss, which cannot always be shown on screen. They did really well. I thought Catching Fire was more true to the books than The Hunger Games, but again, this was almost a necessity given the medium through which it was shown.

17. You're really hitting hard, aren't you? Hermoine and Katniss are two very different people from two very different worlds. Wherein Katniss had mainly only herself to rely on and struggled to accept help from outside sources whether they were there or not, Hermoine was always surrounded by a strong support group and her inclusion was never in question. I admire Hermoine for her strength and intelligence and the bravery to do what she thought was right, even though it sometimes came back to her negatively. I admire Katniss for her independence and her strength and will to live, though sometimes her stubbornness cost her greatly and she was her own biggest enemy at times.

18. If I were a Hunger Games tribute, I would be dead in the first five minutes. Let's be real here. Other than that... if by some miracle I managed to avoid the first slaughter... I would run and hide and just try to stay hidden. As for Hogwarts houses... I honestly couldn't tell you. I mean, I love the books and the movies, but I don't really know enough about the different houses to be sure. I probably wouldn't be Gryffindor, nor would i be Slytherin... the other two always get fuzzy in my head. There's... something with a beaver... and... uh.... well, I'd be one of those two.

19. Answered above. ;)

20. That I am actually a very introverted, not very self confident person, who has very low self esteem. I don't think I'm attractive, I don't think I have any appeal to anyone, really. Let's face it, it's a pic thread on an erotic forum... show a bit of skin anywhere and it'll get a good review, no matter how truly attractive/non attractive it is. As much as the thread is great for bolstering self esteem, the truth is that in real life nobody has bothered to look at me twice in a very long time... so I know which one I believe.

* Oh, and if you think I haven't noticed your sig before, you're very much mistaken. ;)

2. Panties. Honestly. It's a ridiculous word. When I'm writing, I try to avoid it as long as possible. Just... kinda... write around it. ;)
I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know the answer to this question: why don't you like the word "panties"? And what word do you use instead?

If Angie Harmon was to use that word, I'm guessing that's end of your crush?

Angie Harmon could whisper that word to me all day long and I'd take it. I'd take it *all* . Hell, in her gravelly voice, she could recite proctology manuals at me and I'd still cream my unmentionables. ;)

I don't know why I don't like it... I really don't. It's just... it feels weird, to say it and to hear it. I usually use... underwear, underthings, it all depends on the type of writing I'm doing. If I'm trying to be sexy and I absolutely have to use a descriptor at all... perhaps thong or briefs or whatever they particularly are.

And I will always hear Harry Connick Jnr in my head: "Squirrel covers, you know, yer panties. You do wear 'em, dontchya?"

*shudder*

Ugh, I hate the word panties too. Maybe it's an Aussie thing? I much prefer knickers and that's the word I use.

I am sure people look twice, GG, maybe you just don't notice. I hear what you're saying though.

Perhaps. We Aussies are quite sensitive little fuckers about our language, aren't we? ;)

A lot of my writing audience is from the US, so "knickers" doesn't always get through. Eh, they're so fickle.

I'm probably biased and my self perception is skewed, I realise this, but I can't help it.

If someone was to play you in a movie, who would it be?

Who would you want it to be?

If someone was to play you in a movie, who would it be?

Who would you want it to be?

Ummm... that's a good question. I once had a friend say I reminded him of Natalie Portman... but I think that friend needs glasses. I would most likely be played by some Kardashian or Paris Hilton or someone like that.

I would *love* to be played by Anna Kendrick, she's so much fun.

Also, this is one boring movie they're making. ;)

If you were to go on a cruise what would you rather do - Cha Cha Lessons, Floral Artistry class, bingo, or play coits?

With the understanding that I'm not entirely sure what coits actually *is*, I would have to choose Cha Cha lessons out of that list. Hell yeah.

1. In everyday life, what is your number one pet peeve? Fitted sheets? Parking meters?

2. What’s one of the scariest things you have ever done?

3. If you could go back in history, who would you like to meet?

4. What’s your earliest memory?

5. Have you ever been in a fist fight?

With the understanding that I'm not entirely sure what coits actually *is*, I would have to choose Cha Cha lessons out of that list. Hell yeah.

Perhaps she means quoits? Or maybe she means coitus. She's pretty filthy, so she probably means that.

You said you're competitive at board games. What are your favourite ones?

GG quoth:
and yes, very, very bi. ;)
i'm always interested in knowing how people came to terms with their sexual identity when it isn't heterosexuality. insofar as you're open to doing so, can you elaborate on that, please?

GG quoth:
i know i would like agents of SHIELD, i know, but...
don't worry, joss isn't the chief creative force behind it. there are some decidedly joss-y touches but it's chiefly his brother behind that show. i don't know if that helps or not...

GG quoth:
nobody knows *everything*, that's just impossible, but you should have the ability and the willingness to change your mind or to learn something new if you can, if the opportunity arises.
i just wanted to say that was well said. had a certain poetry about it. :D

[snicker] so true.

1. I think I said it above... people chewing loudly. Why would fitted sheets annoy me?

2. Erm... recently... I disassembled my laptop, completely gutted it, and rebuilt it. The cpu fan died and it was either pay the shop tech $150 base rate to replace it, or buy one online for $13 and install it myself. So... I got over my fear of completely killing the thing and managed to do quite well. That was scary.

I went to a wetlab for anatomy class. Though that was more creepy than scary. ..

3. Answered.

4. I have this memory, it's more a sense memory than a story... this feeling of sitting in a pram and being rolled, feeling the wheels roll, roll, click, roll, roll, click over the cracks in the path... and the sparkle of sunlight from above.

I can tell you right now, my mother is not the type to have a child in a pram if that child can walk competently, so I could not have been much older than 12-18 months old.

5. Not really, no. I've been in scrambles, mostly with my sisters/cousins when I was younger. But an actual all-in fist fight as an adult? No.

Perhaps she means quoits? Or maybe she means coitus. She's pretty filthy, so she probably means that.

You said you're competitive at board games. What are your favourite ones?

Hmmm, maybe I'd choose coitus if that was an option ;) still have no idea what quoits is. I'll have to google it.

My faves? I like Trivial Pursuit and Monopoly, Scrabble, most recently I like Cards Against Humanity... I have the Buffy and Angel board games and was pretty soon banned from playing them, because they're kind of strategy games and I tended to win over a certain person who couldn't handle not having a better strategy than me. They were fun. I have the Game of Life as well. Yahtzee is a big one.

i'm always interested in knowing how people came to terms with their sexual identity when it isn't heterosexuality. insofar as you're open to doing so, can you elaborate on that, please?

It's a long, drawn out story... very wangsty... here, this is from two years ago and it goes into much more detail than I am ever going to go again, so if you really want the long, drawn out, angsty version of my coming to terms with my bisexuality, read this.

i wouldn't consider that hard--but thank you for a well-considered answer.

even if you're firmly fence-sitting. :D

Is it really fence sitting if that is my answer, though? Because I don't have a preference to one over the other, I don't think Hermoine and Katniss can even BE compared. That's like asking, "what do you admire more: mittens or orange juice?" I admire them both, for different reasons. I have no real preference.

still flying gorram it!

i'm sure i'll have more in a bit.

You can't take the sky from me ;)

Looking forward to it.

Yes those. I didn't even know what they were called. I'm not 80 and dont play professionally like some of us. So I had to google it.

I'm *still* gonna have to google it :p
