Surprise! Canadian Federal Erection Thread

Liberal Prime Minister Carney was originally a bureaucrat in the Conservative Government of Prime Minister Harper… they appointed him Governor of the Bank of Canada and is credited with making Canada’s economy one of the most stable in the world.

He then steered the bank of england through the crisis caused by Bexit.

Then became Chair of Brookfield, one of the worlds largest and best operated infrastructure investment funds.

Yah but what has he done for the Con's lately? *chuckles* That's PP's and Harper's stance.

Empty Suit.

“With about a week left before election day and well over two million ballots cast so far, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre still hasn't released a costed platform outlining his vision for the country and how he'd pay for his multibillion-dollar commitments.

Conservative campaign sources told CBC News the platform is not expected to be released on Easter Sunday, even though advance voting ends Monday.”

That was like a hockey game…a fist fight over slow play that resulted in one in the first foursome getting a broken jaw.

Best part is the Police ruled the second foursome would play through.

And nobody was charged. Nothing to see. Play on.

If that scuffle happened in America, there’d be weeks of media “revelations”, years of lawsuits and pages of Rob’s bullshit.

Lol

This is quite the little rant - if this guys is right, Trump has guaranteed a Liberal landslide, ensurimg the Canadian election has switched from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre having an 80% chance of winning to the Liberals habing an 80% chance of winnig. The lates polls say Trump's fanboy, Poilievre might even lose his seat.

With a "friend" like Trump, who needs enemies. Carney didn't even need to campaign. Trump did all the work for him. 7.5 million early votes already cast. That's massive early turnout for Canada.

The truth is that Trudeau engineered the whole thing by picking the fight and reaping the rewards for his Party.

He had to fall on his sword to do it, but he did a great job of setting it up.

Using Trump’s nonsensical quotes as a “wedge issue” tarred the Conservatives with a MAGA brush. Their snappy slogans turned against them.

A complete reversal of fortunes in less than 30 days from -20 to +20 for any Party anywhere is unheard of.

A beautiful piece of political gamesmanship.

It also shows center-left parties around the world how to battle against the wave of populist authoritarianism … you have to stand up to bullies.

Trump could easily become the author of his own movement’s downfall.

Lol

Why Smart Canadians Are Fleeing for the U.S.
It started with Justin Trudeau's father, Pierre, who destroyed accountability in Ottawa.

Missing in debates about free trade and tariffs is discussion about the movement of people between the U.S. and Canada. The Census Bureau says 126,340 Canadians moved to the U.S. in 2022, up from 75,752 in 2012. Among those headed south are Canada’s top technical talents—attracted by high salaries, wider varieties of work and greater career options. More than 70% of the University of Waterloo’s software engineering class of 2022 accepted job offers in the U.S.
A back of the envelope calculation puts the wealth transfer from the exodus of so many smart young Canadians at tens of billions of dollars a year, if not hundreds of billions. The numbers floating around the tariff debate are a rounding error by comparison.

That’s a particularly moronic take, even for you. 😆 People moving between nations is completely irrelevant to a discussion of Trump’s dumb tariff trade war.

Check the latest data, they didn't move to the US for anything other than money.....don't ask me how I know, I'm now very ashamed....

The data's ancient....

From right after Trump's inagaration.....

  • Three quarters of Canadians (74%) have an unfavourable opinion of Donald Trump, while 13% view him favourably. Among Americans, opinions are more divided: 41% have a favourable view of Trump, while 43% have an unfavourable one.
  • Canadians have mixed views on the U.S.: 27% perceive it as an enemy country, 30% as an ally, and another 27% as a neutral nation.

Now .....

Just 16 per cent of Canadians polled by Leger say Canada has a good relationship with the U.S., compared to 15 per cent for ties with Russia.

The US is almost as hated now as Russia!!!!

And look who's rising in popularity....

Meanwhile, 36 per cent of Canadians say Ottawa has a good relationship with Beijing, while the number ranks higher than 75 per cent for ties with Mexico, the European Union and the U.K.
