Hey, great to hear that RJ is out and about

So much to catch up with.... I haven't been on much during the weekend and I've had a hellish Monday.
Today, a crew started digging up our street to install natural gas piping. Wherever they've done that, they managed to cut telephone lines or bust water pipes or both. Sure enough my telephone was cut off most of the morning.... and they are still several blocks away... the best is yet to come!
Ohh, it's going to be a fun few weeks until they are done and get the hell out of here

They spend days here locating and marking all of the utilities buried under a street before any digging ever gets started. Doesn't mean that something won't get messed up, but it very seldom happens since the contractors are held accountable for the damages which could get expensive. Hope the one phone line is all that gets messed up.

Sorry for the "Missing-ness"... Me and my demons been duking it out pretty good over the last few days and I'm quite sure you're all tired of hearing about that. Anyhow, the activity makes me quite irksome and I am sure I am not the best of company when that is going on...

Well the great Kidney experiment is a wash... They have decided that keeping RJ's immune system mashed so severely is more of a hazard to his health than the lacking of a functioning kidney. It is unknown how they will proceed from here - it sort of depends on how his body reacts to the retreat from the suppressent regimine. The kids are understandably disappointed, I think from investing so much into a failure. The actual result is tolerable - he was doing fairly well on dialysis, comparatively speaking. The primary hope now is that his body can recover from all this fooling around and hasn't lost ground because of it.

I made it down to the Tuesday Night jam finally. Lots of players... except for wives, players out numbered the audience about 4 to 1. I sucked beyond normal when my shot at the revolving microphone came around so I have resolved to be better prepared this week - up to, and most likely, taking and using my song book. Also, I started writing down the names and keys of standards that the other guys play so that I can do better at backing them up.

I met a couple guys who are wheels in the GCBA (Green Country Bluegrass Association) and before the conversation was through I had joined up. They got stuff going on all over this neck of the woods (using the Northeast corner of Oklahoma and Tulsa to describe a radius, then the resultant circle is the area that they deem their sphere of influence.) I don't know how much I will be participating in that my Bluegrass chops are no where near what they need to be. However, I think I will most likely run into a number of folks who interested in Traditional Folk and Country, as well as Bluegrass - and those are the ones I really want to meet.

As for the Tuesday night deal, I am going to try to get to them as regularly as possible. However, I need to get a piece of me under control. I was more than a little affected by seeing all the old players with their wives...

The new assistant is leaving for another job on Monday so we will be back to being shortstaffed again I'm back to working every week-end with my days off scheduled threw the week.It's been nice hanging out with my man on week-ends..I'm going to miss that.

Hard to find good help

This is the second assistant to leave since i arrived in September.
It took them 5 months in the NY store to find a replacement for me.
A lot of it has to do with the variety of shifts you need to work and a part of it is the pay.

January and February suck...though it does suck a lot less being in KC...it's a combination of lack of sun and cabin fever...makes me a bit restless

Heh, showed you... I wasn't driving. I checked around the house - can't think of a damned thing I left outside.

The Tele has a set of dead slinkies on it - can't even get it close to in tune... embarassing myself with that guitar will have to wait until I can get a regular set of lights installed.

I took a poll, anything that could be gained by pursuing today any further has been deemed of no value and not worth the effort. I'm going back to bed...

I listen to the weather reports from other parts of the country and I'm glad to be out here. They said Wisconsin was 29 BELOW. They said it was so cold their camera gear wouldn't work.

Yeah, the sun is a good reward for sitting through the cold.
