Tell me something...

I think it's some sort of Frazetta-ish fantasy creature/warlord.

If you accept the idea that an avatar is supposed to be a representation of how we perceive ourselves or how we want to be perceived by others, than we have to assume that Shin thinks of himself as a seriously bad-ass killing machine, a reaper of death placed among us to deal out the ultimate fate with no mercy or forgiveness.

Or ...

... that he's a D&D geek with a lack of social skills brought on by years in front of a computer screen next to a half-empty bag of nachos and countless semi-crushed cans of soda around the room.

(Yes, that was harsh, but I haven't sliced into anyone for a couple of days and I needed the practice.)

About which part? The chips or the soda cans?
soda cans
I've a problem with them

but I've got more time to explain now

so
the reaper representation is that of my personality traits. Death is a very important thing to life and thats how I see how much death is missing in modern society. Whats more suited to a person who embraces death than Death itself?

goodbye

something has died and I miss it terribly..My sex life and this is not meant to be funny..my wife has been on meds for two years now and I have only had sex maybe 3 or 4 times in this period..She has no sex drive and it is so hard for me to remain faithful..My love for my wife is stronger tho and I decided to come back here in hopes of having some innocent fun..we used to have such great times in the sack and now it is cold and lonley..Oh well enough of my whinning I am sure some have it much worse than me ...

Get a lot of dates with that kind of personality? I hear the girls go crazy for a guy who embraces death.

I don't mind if someone wants to embrace death on his own account, but I'd just as soon not participate. I want to keep death at bay for a while, but everyone has their own thing.... ;)

its useless to fight death - so why even bother

of course I dont go looking for dangerous things to do

as for dates, not currently looking so its a moot arguement

Granted that we all die in the end, but surely it is not always useless to fight death? For instance: A child has cut herself severely. Do I treat her wound, or do I stand there and watch her bleed to death because after all, it's useless to fight?

depends the servarity of the cut
is there a reason to the cut?
suicide attempt?
assult?
accident?
is the child mentaly competant?

but to clearify

I dont see the need to prolong the life of people anymore than we've already achived
the world is over populated
we're doing to much save people that would've been allowed to die even 50 years ago

death is a personal thing
its nessary to life - so why is so feared?

That's what I _THOUGHT_ it was until I read this thread....and then looked at it again.

...and here I thought he had a whole Don Quixote thing going on ;)

But don't bash him on the whole Reaper bit... Maybe he just likes the picture...

 . o O(*jeez, I hope they don't realize my av is the same thing, just from a different society... wait, who am I kidding? like anyone would know that?)

On this (and I cannot believe I'm going to say this), we agree.

Is it Tibetan? It's interesting.

Incan.
Actually, it's not the pre-Incan death god that I wanted (Who's name was either "Rom" or "Rum"), because there are no pictures of him that we've found. It's the Incan god Supay.... who partially subsumed the role of the pre-Incan death god.

Yeah, I'm an archaeology nerd.

I made an avatar that was an animated gif of all the different kinds of "ROM" that showed everything from the comic book character to the ferengi bartender from star trek, to the computer chip, to the Incan god....but it was just too much dancing bologna.

...I guess that makes me a computer nerd too.

Still, I'm impressed.

My avatar is just a clip art file of a flower. It has no particular meaning except that I think flowers are pretty.

A Question

I know this isn't a political thread, but oddly, I'm not sure it belongs on the one political thread that is in this forum.

I was wondering, what do you guys think about Saddam Hussein's execution?

I honestly have no idea at all what I think of the death penalty. Sometimes I'm all for it and sometimes I'm totally against it. I think that we didn't give him the fair amount of time that we give every other criminal. But what can ya do?

Until execution becomes less expensive than life in prison, I just can't agree with it. I also think it's more torturous to be robbed of freedom than to be executed. Bah. I don't know.

I just watched the video of his hanging. Too quick and painless for me. I would have preferred something slow and excruciatingly torturous; something way illegal by Geneva Convention standards. Something with lots of dogs in the room and a toilet filled with copies of the Koran.

Fuck that prick. They should now feed him to hogs.

(By the way, the video is really poor quality. It makes the Bigfoot movie look like Steadicam footage. I was hoping to see him hit the end of the rope, but the body disappears behind onlookers and after a few seconds you're treated to a tight shot of him hanging with his neck twisted at a right angle. Like I said, not gruesome enough. For the best death videos, we have to look no further than our friends the terrorists. Now they have the snuff film down to a science: The long-winded declarations of holy war; the wet hisses of the condemned as he pushes his last screams through severed vocal cords; the balancing of the head upon the corpse as the film draws to a close. Yes, my friends, you have no idea what we're fighting until you watch one of these gems for yourself and see that this is going to last a very, very long time. An enemy with the capacity for this kind of evil will not simply surrender, no matter what the size and capability of his enemy.)
