The 2023 Geek Pride Story Event: Official Support Page

Again, I salute your ambition. That is a big editing job, about five times longer than I have to deal with.
I've already went through it once, but that was looking for continuity - is Octavia always Octavia? She became Olivia on occasion. And they finally settle down in the Lancre village of Creel Springs, which became Creel Creek on occasion. They live at the base of Bear Mountain which is named that because it doesn't have any trees so the urge to call it Bare Mountain was overpowering (That's how Sir Terry wrote it!)

And worst of all - was I treating the few characters I used from the original work respectfully and portraying them as Sir Terry would have?

Now it's a hunt for grammar bugs and tense errors - the bane of my existence

Yeah, i didn't realize when I picked a Clara that it looks so much like Carla. That was tougher than it seems.

I suppose that is not Bear Mountain state park on the Hudson River?

Well, it's not Sir Terry's story now, it's yours, so maybe you can give yourself a break. Is he still alive?

No, Bear Mountain State Park is on a round world, this Bear Mountain is on a mostly flat world (Not counting the turtle and four elephants under it) Homonyms are the bane of the back woods communities on discworld.

I am seeing his books pop up for free in several locations on the internet so I'm wondering what is going on but Terry Pratchett headed off with Death on March 12, 2015 due to early onset Alzheimer's.

The amazing part was that even though his Alzheimer's was severe, he dictated two entire novels, Snuff and Raising Steam while suffering with it. He had lost his ability to see certain fonts and could no longer type, so he used voice recognition software. Although I'm not crazy about what is called the "Industrial Revolution" books which these were a part of, I had no idea his condition was so severe

Yay!!!

My story has been accepted. I submitted it early as I was worried about the review bot throwing it out and I wanted time to fix anything. Not that I think the content is in breach of any rules, if read by a human, that is.

But scheduled to be published on May 25th with the rest. So pleased. 🎉🥳🍾🎈

These authors exercises have been running quite well for the past year that I've been jumping in them. I believe that my entry for this year's Geek Pride may be an introduction to an entry for the Literotica 25th Anniversary challenge (I just noticed that) or the Winter Holiday event... yeah, HOGSWATCH NIGHT!

Can't wait to see what the Space Whores are charging for a Jovian Orbit (with afterburner!)

Submitted! I figured I should do it now, since I was thinking about it. "The Wanted Memory," about a space crewman who finds that one of the replacement people he's carrying as cargo was cloned from his ex-wife.

I was playing with the full title of Conrad’s Nostromo, which is of course another sly SciFi reference as well. These little things amuse me, if no one else 😬.

Of course, the spaceship freighter in Alien. "Here kitty, kitty, kitty. Meow. Here, Jonesy."

I've written quite a number of First Time stories over the years, all of which have been in first person, for example a tomboy in WW2 who loses her virginity to a handsome sailor.

All of the first time stories I've seen have been in first person, I don't recall any being written in third person (or the much rarer second person).

My Geek Pride Story this year is a first time story for two different characters, the male with a female, and the girl with another girl, but it is written in third person with various viewpoints. Perhaps Erotic Couplings would be a better choice, as they don't seem to mind girl on girl action there, as opposed to Lesbian Sex which is exclusively for Sapphic sex? The story is too vanilla for Fetish, and it's firmly set in the real world, no fantasy or science fiction or the like.

There's also the fact that the mother and father of the two girls are dating, but they're not stepsisters so it wouldn't fit in Incest/Taboo either, if I did post it there I don't think the fans would like it very much.

Any advice would be appreciated, as it is hard to classify the story.

Put my two stories in. The shield will be down in moments. You may start your landing.

Let's go!

Finally! I submitted my Discworld homage, Enchantress

51.8K words and I loved every single one. It's one of those stories that I truly enjoyed writing and am currently busy with a follow up that won't make it for Geek Pride, maybe some other event.

I am ready to pull the trigger... or your finger? Look for "The Captain's Pets". These events are fun!

If I may ask, how long did you take proofing it or whatever after you finished the principal writing?

I've been proofing it for over a week, it was at 50.2K words and when finished writing then after a lot of re-writes and clean-ups it ended at 51.8 k words

My final read-through and polish started at 9:00 AM this morning and ended at 5:30 PM

The Seaboard was a railroad that ran from Richmond VA past my house to Jacksonville FL
I can't wait to see if you used steam or diesel locomotives

just teasing
Well, Joseph Conrad is your guy if you like ships. He had plenty of first-hand experience on them, including sailing ships which lasted well into the age of steamers. He then wrote quite vividly about them.

So it got considerably longer than. I mean, over 1,000 words is not trivial.

So you live in Jacksonville. I've never been any where near it. A few people have told me that Florida is pretty uncomfortable in the summer, once you leave the air conditioning.

It was FUN to write, I could easily sit down and double the word count, as Randy Quaid said in "The Paper" "It writes like butter! There's actual butter coming out of my pen!" I finally discovered what that meant.

JAX is 'way too big for me, it's near but I'm a small towy boy. I was most comfortable in Surrey ND pop 900. Now I live in a very, very small town as far north as you can get in Florida but I can be in Downtown JAX in 45 minutes if forced.
