The BDSM Book Club Discussion Thread

Hear ye, hear ye!

The BDSM book club July 2007 selection is:

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by A. N. Roquelaure aka Anne Rice.

In the traditional folk tale "Sleeping Beauty," the spell cast upon the lovely young princess and everyone in her castle can only be broken by the kiss of a Prince. Anne Rice's retelling of the Beauty story probes the unspoken implications of this lush, suggestive tale by exploring its undeniable connection to sexual desire.

I hope many will read along with us this month and/or chime in during the discussion on August 1, 2007 of the July selection.

Discussion of June's selection, Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delany may begin July 1, 2007.

Please remember to put your nominations for the August selection when you think of them.

Also you may review, discuss and/or comment on any selection up to this point. The first post in this thread has an index which is updated each month.

A *bump* to say I wasn't able to get Dhalgren, but I have July's selection. :nana:

Hi Fury! Just a short not to say that I am back from Arizona - ready to discuss Dhalgren this weekend! (Gotta get to work now... :( ) :rose: Neon

I read The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty 2 years ago. I'll gladly read it again if I can join in with the book club.

Of course you can. If you look at the front page you'll see people come and go - the only one's who're here routinely is FurryFury.

That book changed my life. And I only read it because I was reading all of her books. What a shock to my system. It was like reading sexual passages in vanilla books as a kid. The first few chapters anyway. After that it got kind of wild.

Cool that it did!

I LOVE your pussy cat!

LOL!

Started it this morning, I'm at the place where she's tied down for th court and I'm enthralled. It's making it very difficult to do my chores for the day, I keep coming back and reading a bit more. LOL

Oh dear!

Sounds delish!

I got my copy today.

I'm going to finish what I'm reading now and maybe another book before starting this one though.

Thanks! That series was required reading for me the week after I was collared. The 2nd book in the series was his first gift to me. I had such a difficult time reading it though..I had to keep taking breaks with a toy..

May it be so with me as well!

beautiful

Yes Sir, that's what I think of my baby kitty too!

(To tell the absolute truth I DON'T feel the same about pussys or most private parts. They's rather yucky to look at but fun and sensational to play with!)

Just what in the hell is THIS??

Spam check on aisle three please!

Can someone clean up this mess?

Wow, am I in a mood.

I finished The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. To tell the truth I liked it less and less as it went, but I'll save the rest of my opinion till the end of the month.

My local bookstore does not carry Dhalgren so I'll not be able to chime in this month. I do, however, have a fully-read copy of the Sleeping Beauty trilogy on my bookshelf and intend to do my usual east-coast-snob pontificating ;) when it's time.

Yes, this month is the Sleeping Beauty thing. Last month was Dhalgren. I'm hoping the discussion gets started soon!
