The BDSM Book Club Discussion Thread

Yes, anyone can join in.

Welcome!

Discussion begins at midnight your time on the last night of each month for each selection.

Also you can talk with us about any of the books we've already read that you have also read and you can suggest what book you'd like to read next month!

Selection of the January 2009 BDSM book of the month will be made by the last day of the month.

:rose:

Can anyone join in the discussion?

When does the discussion start for All You Can Eat?

OMG! I finished this month's book last night! It was pretty hot and perfect for my night out with my husband in a hotel room. LOL.

:rose:

LOL Seeing as I have a 'date night' over the next few nights with my SO I better finish the book today ;)

As for next month my vote goes for:

The Darker Side of Pleasure or Playing Easy to Get.

Or Heartsick or Minstrals Kiss.

If y'all pick another book it's okay...I have gift certificates...I'd be able to get them:rose:

He he he! Ho ho ho! Gotta love those nights out and gift certificates!

:D

*waves*

I am still alive - been buried in real life CRAP and it has taken me 3 months to read a book that normally takes me 2 days to read. BUT I have a gift certificate and unburied from some of the bs so bring it on!

Woo hoo! Welcome back!

The Darker Side of Pleasure or Heartsick gets my vote for next month..but any other book is not a problem. :rose:

And we should have another person I know joining in the discussion as well. :D

Another person? Yay!

It looks like Heartsick is winning our informal poll here.

:rose:

Hey! I'm glad I found this thread; reading through the book descriptions I wouldn't even know where to start. The Darker Side of Pleasure sounds good, as does Carrie's Story.

I'm eager to read, and discuss, whichever book is chosen!!

I'm glad you did too! Welcome!

Thanks for your votes!

Happy New Year's Eve!

The January 2009 BDSM book of the month pick is:

Heartsick by Chelsea Cain!

We can begin discussing this month's book All U Can Eat by Emma Holly at midnight your time!

:rose:

ohhhh, I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did. Putting on my pile to re read.:D

I just read 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' by Stieg Larson. It was pretty good, lots of characters and a few twists to the plot. Maybe some things were lost in translation from Swedish. Interestingly, Stieg Larson turned in manuscripts to his publisher:
'The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo', published in english this year
'The Girl that Plays with Fire', translated to English to be published next month
A third one that hasn't been translated yet 'Luftslottet som sprängdes '
Finally, the forth that hasn't even been published in Swedish yet, I am not too sure if it was completed.
He intended to publish ten books in this series and had outlines for the fifth and sixth.

Larson was a healthy man of fifty and shortly after he turned his manuscripts in to his publisher he died of a massive heart attack. Conspiracy theories abound.

Hi!

Welcome!

Would these books be considered BDSM books? If so we will put them on the nominations list.

All U Can Eat by Emma Holly BDSM

Did you like the book overall or not?

I did. I liked to see the two people with such different needs find each other. They murder mystery was okay too.

Do you feel it portrays BDSM in a real way, a positive way and/or your way?

Well, sometimes it did. It was confusing. The girl was into sex just about any ole way but what really got her going was some D/s.

Did you like the sex scenes in the book?

Yes, some of them. The ones with the two main characters did it for me.

Did you like the rest of the book, the story in it?

After the first chapter, yes I did.

Would you be interested in reading another book by this author?

Yes.

What did you like best about this selection?

Seeing the lead male character find someone who not only was okay with that he did but so turned on. Seeing something get fixed inside them both by the acceptance from each of them for the other.

What did you like the least?

I don't like the one true love thing much. I don't like multiple partners for everyone and such as that very much either. I like clear characters. If some are poly, bi switches, great but not all of them should be.

How would you have changed the story?

I wouldn't have really. It was kind of fun and sleazy the way everyone in town was having kinky multi sex. LMAO.

BTW, the All U Can Eat diner made no sense to me. I mean it wasn't like she had a buffet in there but I can see why it's a great title for the book! For someone who has fantasized about being a buffet it certainly caught my eye!

Just dropping in to say I'll be leaving my discussion about All U Can Eat either later today or tomorrow at the latest:rose:

FF, Stieg Larson's book did have a few chapters referring to BDSM, it was not the theme of the story. I wouldn't recommend it as a book for a BDSM Book Club.
Thanks for asking my opinion. I would enjoy joining your group and reading the book of the upcoming month, it would be helpful if the library has it ;)

I would love to have you join us! I always try to make sure my library has the book but that doesn't mean yours will. This is why I have people indicate interest so they can say, I can't get this one, how about that one. I hope your library has our pick this month and you join us!

I'll have to check out Stieg Larson sometime regardless!

Yay! That's pretty inexpensive. I hope you enjoy it. I do like half.com for some things.

:rose:

I ordered my copy today! Half.com has a few copies for $1.25 or less; with shipping the total cost is less than $5. I usually buy books from this site because I like to own them and I'm not so good at returning books to the library without incurring major fees.

Half.com is an ebay site, so if you choose to order from a seller make sure to check their feedback score. Also, it can take up to a couple weeks to receive an order because they ship via media mail.
