Well our new recruits, our bright young things, really thought they would enjoy their weekend in Spain and the exercises would start Monday. But in reality the enemy doesn’t respect weekends so neither can we in NRR. They were shocked when they received the ‘hostage alert call’ at 1100 hours and called to call mobilisation. But I’m pleased to that so far say it seems we made the right choices in our selection. Let’s see how they cope with an ‘all nighter’. Seems odd planning our response from an office - I long to be out there with them. Know what I mean CG?

Glad to know you are following orders and staying in your chair. I was afraid we would have to send Chris down there to 'invent' a way to keep you in it.

That is great that the newbees are fitting in with the rest.

You have trained your team well now it is time to let your chicks fly G G. And Yes I know it is hard but soon we all have to make that hard transition from field to OPS or Staff. By the way give me OPS every time my personality does not lend its self to the politics of Staff work.

S F some days are slower than others. I often see only a couple of post a day to the Inn when I am online.

It’s a completely different life directing operations from the nerve centre but I’ve had a phone call from the CO saying I’ve got it right. I do envy the boys and girls with their ‘boots on the ground’ but I reassure myself I’ll be with them this time next year!

Our new recruits are an amazing addiction and the American girls HSG chose for their engineering skills are going to be like gold dust. Others will want them but they are ours! So I say to the Rhinos ‘HANDS OFF! We got them first!’

Sorry CG & SF we’ve been quiet but it’s been a challenge. Robyn & Sal are setting off for OTS tomorrow so Thayer busy. In 12 months they will be officers! And in 5 years I’ll be calling Robyn ‘Ma’m’. She’s brilliant!

Ok, time to assess the situation and give orders for the next phase of our operation. See you all soon.

It is different in Ops but can be exciting as well. It is like putting a puzzle together G G and seeing the picture before you have all the pieces. And you have to make some tough calls. As we say Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, and remain Highly flexible in between.

Sorry SF, most of the girls are on this exercise while Robyn & Sal are getting set to begin their final OTS year. Meanwhile I’m learning to direct operations which is a new experience for me. I prefer to be on the ground.

Shiva, I’m home this coming weekend too and Rick will have returned from Washington so I’m excited too.

Sometimes it is quiet in here, sometimes it gets quite busy. I am on all sorts of weird hours. I don't sit around waiting for someone to show, you know. I just pop in and out.
