The China Pearl Inn part 9

:Looks up over the edge of the book:

Hmm, place is empty.

:Turns eyes back to the book:

I’m stuck behind a desk moving papers around. I’ve got to hear a disciplinary for the ‘Tigers’ this afternoon. Meanwhile my guys & girls are out on manoeuvres, wish I was with them! O Rick! What have you done to me?

Rick is based in the UK atm with SRR and he had a weekend off. We actually played ‘house’ lol.

Ah but given your present condition G G I would say it is not the first time you and Rick have played house. :devil:sh :D

Ummm... YOU have been talking babies since I met you. In fact, I bet if I scrolled through the past Inn threads, I could find dozens of posts by YOU regarding wanting to have a baby as soon as possible. LOL

Didn't you say you wanted multiple babies????? :D

Not to mention that you went for the promotions that put you behind a desk. ;)

That is great that you are both in the same place at the same time and can be together. :)

Hugs to both of you.

S F G G is just lucky that way. ;)

It is a slow day here the only real news is this weekend I am going to the west side of the sound to look at a couple of properties one of which might become my wee cottage out here.

I have been waiting for fall to come and housing prices to drop.

That is good that you have found a couple of possibilities. I know what you mean about waiting for fall. I bought my house in late winter and signed the final papers in late March. Summer is a bad time for house hunting. I was lucky to get in when I did, prices have risen quite a bit around here the past year or so. Not only would it cost more than I could afford, but the interest rates have risen. I looked into switching to a 15 year loan but the interest rates are higher than what I have on my 30 year loan.

Still warm, no rain. Monsoons seem to be over. Now I watch the cottonwood to see when the leaves start turning, but that will probably be another month. I have a company coming at the end of the week to clear out the overgrown brush which is good and bad. I need the brush cleared but they will take out the wild flowers at the same time. I like watching the wild asters dance in the breeze. Hopefully, after the clearing, the flowers will still come back next August. Meanwhile the cicadas sound like a power line gone crazy. LOL

It is always a matter of timing S F, lowering prices, and yet decent inventory, of possible properties. There is one I am very interested in, but trying to keep expectations in check. I have been down this road a couple of times in my life.;)

Yeah, that keeping hope down to avoid disappointment is hard. I had another place in mind when I came here, but it sold the week before I got here. I think this place was a better fit even though it was my second choice. How is the inventory up there? I know that area has been very popular with Californians for the past decade. They certainly drove the prices up in that area.

Just to add my two penny worth. It’s the same here, autumn is always a good time to buy property. Not that it worries me just yet, I will be in the army for at least another 12 years.

Robyn and I have been ‘bedding the virgins’, introducing the new girls to life at OTS (it was us last year). Tonight she’s been helping a friend fix their car, came back covered in oil - straight into the shower. Then we sent out for fish and chips!

CG, Rose sent me a text. She’s on manoeuvres until Friday but she knows she owes you a post in your thread. She’ll write soon.

Meanwhile, good luck with the move.

Thanks Sal. I appreciate you passing on Rose's message. Sounds like you and Robyn are two very busy young ladies.

S F That they do, but so far the western side of Pudget sound has not been discovered. The Californians are stay to the greater Seattle area, home of Boeing, Microsoft, and Amazon. But yes they have driven prices up unbelievably.

I have read a couple of books set in that area. Sounds very pretty. Lots of trees. Are you looking to live on one of the small islands?

I don't know how Robyn and Sal keep track of where they are supposed to be and when. Their schedules are nutty.

No on one of the larger peninsulas S F on the western side of Pudget Sound. The San Juan Islands are very, very expensive, but handy to Vancouver and Victoria B C Canada.

Looking for a bit of land this time.

Gardening or putting space between you and your neighbors? You had a very pretty backyard at your last place.

I hope for the same here S F but with about Five acers of land, but we shall see. Might settle for around two acres if they are the right acreage.

That is a good chunk of land. I have an acre, but because it has the forest on two sides, a small arroyo one side, and the house sits in the back corner of the acre, it makes it feel a lot larger. I would have liked a little more acreage, but I sure would not have settled for less.

Rick’s family have several acres in Texas where they raise livestock. Our wedding present was to be given the title of one the houses there for when we retire from the Military. His family hope we’ll work on the land. But that will be years yet.

From what I have read, that is pretty common on large ranches. Build homes for the kids on the land and then hope they will stay and work the ranch. At least you already know how to ride a horse. :)

I have my ‘American Horse’, Thunder stabled there. I always saw myself nursing when I retired from the Military. Maybe I’ll be able to combine the two. But that’s years away.

S F, G G my mom was a navy Nurse and my dad was a Marine when they married. She always worked in nursing be it on the wards or teaching student nurses. Seem that the vocation to be a nurse is quite strong. G G I do believe that where ever life brings you nursing will be a big part of your life. ;)

Well we are going to have a pretty much normal Pacific Northwest early fall day 70% chance of rain. Been raining at night the last several days and overcast during the day.

Knowing my wife she’ll do what she wants to do. She’s a London Girl, and I wouldn’t change her for the world.

Btw, this song was sung by a Chas & Dave tribute act at our wedding blessing and at Tom & HSG’s wedding.

Ok, I’m being called for supper. I always get the last word —- ‘YES DEAR!’

A London Girl is it Rick? I am sure you have learned that London Girls are a wee bit feisty.:devil:ish :D

But G G is just a sweet little lamb Right Rick ;)
