Ummm the 5th of November, Guy Fawkes day if I remember right Robyn a night for bonfires and fireworks. Burning a politician or two in effigy sounds like a good idea.

Every year at this time I think of my military colleagues of past years who made the supreme sacrifice. Especially my fellow nurses who serve in the military. I know I’ve used this before but it is with pride I share it again. God bless you my brothers and sisters.

Thanks G G. November is a hard month for me with Veterans / Remembrance day and it is the month of my Month of my Mom's birth. I fear not a happy month for me and I do get a tad bit grumpy.

I did my civic duty Kama and voted. I figure you have no right to complain if you did not vote. If you don't vote you just cast your ballot for the guy you dislike.

I have seen to many of my friends die to make sure we all have that right to vote.

I don't usually watch the tv show Madame Secretary, but I happened to see it a couple of weeks ago. The show was about trying to get back the remains of soldiers from the Phillipines. At the end of the show, it was election day and the daughter of the Secretary said she wasn't going to bother to vote. Her mother freaks. "I just came back from the Phillipines bringing back the remains of several soldiers that died so that you could vote. Get dressed, I will take you."

Not often that Hollywood gets it right.

I have nothing but contempt for those who don’t vote. I’ve served in countries where the women would give anything to vote yet here in the UK some can’t be bothered to go down the road. Our system isn’t perfect but it’s the best we have. I’ve watched as good men & women have died to defend our freedoms. I’ve voted for all three major parties in my time and I have no party allegiance. I have one simple point - if you don’t vote you have no right to moan about the government you get.

Today I had more disciplinary hearings, nothing too serious so it will not be on anyone’s record providing they mend their ways. Clearing my office (my leave starts on 15th November). Tonight I’m off to the Palace preparing for the OTS Ball tomorrow. Heard from Rick, he comes home Friday.

This time of year I think of that young American Marine who died in my arms. The bravest man I’ve ever met.
