The "Fuck you cancer!" thread

It's been FIVE YEARS (!) since my melanoma surgery! For a while I had monthly full-body scans, then for a long time, quarterly, then twice a year. My doc is now graduating me to yearly scans!

I'm happy with that.

FYC!

That's great!
Congratulations!

Yayyyy!!! Happy to hear you are five years out and healthy...

You give me hope....

Praying your scans become completely unnecessary.

It's been awhile since I've posted regarding my brother's battle with cancer. Bad news today. We had an appointment at the cancer center and his scan showed mets to his rib(s?). We have to go back in on Monday to meet with his doctor and review additional treatment options. Needless to say, it's more than difficult and painful to deal with more destruction of my lovely, loving, fun and funny brother!

Please, if you have a moment, share a prayer or a positive thought for him.

Thank you,
~Apple:rose:

FYC!! You are hated with all I have to hate!

Thanks guys! It's good to take stock of wins, big and small, and I consider this yuge. The truth is that everyone who contributes to this thread is a smoothie of support that nourishes others with hopelike "berries" and "wheatgrass." Or something.

Apple, sorry that cellfucker is making things so hard for your brother. I know that you are a source of reassurance to him in a shitty time.

Hey cancer. Fuck you.

Praying for him and hoping his next treatment is not too tough on him but still beats the mets...

Just to say that I'm running again at the beginning of June to raise money for cancer research. This will be my 4th time and my knees are REALLY complaining :) But since my last run, I've lost a good friend and also my mother in law to cancer so the fight must go on...

-Thinking of your bro, Apple.

-Thanks Daus! Always good to see you.

It's not cancer, but its just-as-insidious cousin: I lost a friend to ALS today. FY. FY. FY.

Sorry for your losses. My knees complained for many years (LOL cuz I am getting old), so this will be my 10 year walking in the Relay and just a few month shy of my 10th year cancer free ! The fight does indeed go on and on...we go to the doctor on Monday...wife found a lump..hopefully just a cyst or something else benign. FUCK YOU CANCER!

Wonderful news, for us. The lump turned out to be scar tissue from previous surgery!! Feeling very lucky right now! Positive thoughts and prayers go out to all of you in the midst of the battle!! Fuck You Cancer!!!

I wanted to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I'm so thankful to be able to talk about his fight with people who understand what it's like to be actively fighting cancer and have a good understanding of what he deals with daily. I spend a lot of time with him and take him to 95% of his appointments and still his battle is a mystery to me. The type, duration, and amount of pain he feels is beyond my comprehension. How he goes on day by day is inspiring. But it's here that I get a better understanding of what he deals with because of all that each of you share.

He hides as much as possible from most of us. What he does share is frightening and if possible, I wish I could take his pain if even for a short time. It's been a while between posts. My brother has finally decided that he will initiate the radiation treatments and try to kill the new cell growth in his sternum/rib area. Hopefully, it will kill the cancer there and lessen, if not remove, his pain. That seems to be his biggest issue now, the pain in that new area. Like he doesn't have enough to deal with he has worse pain in another area.

I know all cancers are different and the areas/type/people respond differently, but if anyone is willing to share a time frame from radiation treatments to bone and the lessening of pain in that area, I'd appreciate the share. :rose:

Thanks again for your posts, information sharing, and for being the strong and courageous people you all are. Hugs to all. Thoughts and prayers to each of you as you continue forward in your battles.

Apple xo

FYC~!!
