The "Fuck you Covid19" thread

I wish people understood that masks need to cover the nose, too. So many people around here with their face-dicks hanging out.

Ouch. Laughing still leads to coughing which still hurts.

That is hilarious (and so appropo).

I've had people tell me that since I've been sick, my personality has changed. Ummm... no. I was pretty much an asshole when I was still in swaddling. They just hadn't given me a reason to show my ass until they showed theirs. Or, as you say, their "face-dicks."

I am so using that. Hell, my step-son works for a t-shirt manufacturer. I may just pass it along to him to make t-shirts up with a face with a nose hanging out and the caption "'Don't be a dick face.' ~ Bramblethorn"

Not my expression, I heard it from a friend, but have fun with it!

Hi Cassie

there's been a cute meme floating around FB - how to wear a mask as shown by a black lab. Not with nose out, not under chin, not on top of your head!

Nice to see you

:rose:

I've seen that one. It's cute. If a dog can wear a mask right... so can people.

122,635 new Covid cases in US yesterday.

The winter twindemic apocalypse is upon us.
I expect we will hit over 200,000 new cases a day by thanksgiving unless our country has a big come to jesus moment and we have a widespread adoption of public health measures.

I am SO FUCKING TIRED.

FUCK YOU Covid19

I got a covid test today - was exposed to someone 5 days ago. No symptoms on my end, she has flu-like symptoms but is feeling better today.

(((cassie))) You must be (I can't think of a good word... tired / frustrated / mad)

Masks on people!

We canceled Thanksgiving.

My husband will be missing the birth of our child due to this pandemic. I'm prepared to go it alone but I really wish I didn't have to!

Cookie I hope you are okay. Praying for negative Covid results.
Disheartened I think is the adjective

I am so very sorry you and your husband will be apart for the birth of your baby. Covid is taking stuff away from all of us. This loss to you feels particularly cruel. We are living in memorable times.

This is awful! Can you use some technology to at least partially mitigate the situation?

Thanks, ladies

We are actually feeling really comfortable about the decision now. Sure, it's not the way we would have planned it if we had the choice but it is what it is. My father in law tested positive this weekend after going to a Halloween party we begged them not to go to because they were in our "bubble" and we were counting on them for childcare.

My in laws are getting a crash course in boundaries this year. They will no longer be able to meet their grandchild until next year, which sucks, too.

We will use technology and dad will be by my side within an hour or two with the toddler. I'm under the care of absolutely fantastic midwives who I know will help me bring this babe home in a safe, calm and empowered environment. We got this! 💪

Plus, dad and kiddo will be better rested and I know the house will be cleaned when I get home. It's the little things 🥰

Lol. This is almost exactly what I would write. I had something like 8 weeks without seeing my 14 year old during our lockdown. Not even vaguely comparable to your situation, but I get the need to just make the pragmatic decision. So sorry about your in-laws. Who is even having parties there at the moment? Although I know that's easy for me to say ... I really can't fathom how life must be in the rest of the world right now.

Without getting too political... Republicans 😬

We've beat masks half to death, but what I don't get is healthcare professionals who don't wear masks or wear them improperly. Jesus wept.

There's an old adage "doctors make the worst patients". Related, my doctor grandpa died before I was born...

the same reason as for health professionals having a much lower (not even 1 in 5 here) flu shot participation percentage
apparently they think they're invulnerable or some 'god in white' thing

Almost every health care worker I know, including my self, has to get a flu shot every year or they are not allowed to work at our hospital. NO exceptions. And we get checked for TB every year even though that disease is nearly extinct. So not sure who you are talking about.

I have a feeling in my gut the anti-vaxxers and the anti-maskers are the same people. :(

We have some staff down with Covid so I'm covering this weekend. We have had several teachers come in and test + and they are refusing to quarantine and stay out of work.

1. To see grown ass adults throw a fit when asked to quarantine or refuse to accept that they could actually have it is just astounding to me as if aliens brought me lunch.

2. The absolute selfishness of endangering other people's children is just breathtaking.

What kind of backwards place do you live in that you don't get alien food delivery? Should consider moving.

Might get you into the company of actual serious adults, too.

I’m sick of healthcare workers not wearing their masks properly - pulling them down to talk etc. I’m sick of reminding people to keep their noses covered, I’m sick of hospital administrators ending emails with “stay safe” or “stay healthy we need you”, We don’t need 5 emails a day from hospital administrators praising people for their hard work - I usually just give the email the finger and say fuck off and delete it.

We need actual policies that help keep people safe.

Schools are closing here again. In spite of schools not being major sources of transmission here. But we have casinos and bars and every type of sports league you can imagine. Stores are packed again, no one is following limits (except Trader Joe’s. Bless).

So we can eat indoors without masks. Drink and gamble indoors without masks. The governor said his hands are tied because of the Republican legislature. But schools. Schools are closed. This is yet another symptom of a hugely sick society. We are prioritizing money over children. Children, even older kids, need school. So much for those ‘pro life’ republicans.

And for Trump to be golfing or tweeting? Let them eat cake.

Another thumbs up for Trader Joe's.

Other than it already being awesome, they’re a bit busier, so more produce turnover so it’s not as crappy as it used to be. I used to have to go there and then to Whole Foods for produce. Fuck Whole Foods.

Mask compliance is probably better here overall, though I haven't stood in a line to enter a retail store in months - except at Trader Joe's. We are on the verge of another county-wide stay-at-home order, I'm sure, despite many people's best efforts. This thing really, really sucks.

As for Trump and his metaphorical cake, may it be seasoned with Putin's favorite ingredient of revenge.

I think we're just about to make mask wearing on public transport (including planes) compulsory here. Everyone was so good at complying with the 'guidelines' back at the beginning of the year, but now everyone is just a bit complacent about both masks and using the contact tracing app. It's difficult, because our number are so minimal, the whole 'it's not really that bad' discourse seems to be reinforced (if people totally ignore what's happening internationally). People don't seem to get that we need to actually *work* to maintain the current situation. The government can only do so much.
