Yesterday one of our bigger papers ran a column by our dollar-store Candace Owens arguing that Australia overreacted because "only 83 healthy people died of COVID-19" here.
Even if the claim had been remotely true (which it wasn't, not by even the most generous stretch of interpretation - either they flat-out lied about the source data, or they were just incredibly lazy and sloppy with their fact-checking)... it's hard not to read that as eugenics.
Meanwhile, a dear friend died last week, and when her husband announced it on her blog, some shithead tried to post "must have been the vaccine" bullshit there. I've been trying not to fall into "hope that guy gets covid and dies" thinking but it's awfully appealing :-/

I think people are generally good, however, “survival of the fittest” people THINK they’re talking about Darwin when they really mean Eugenics. And many people are shortsighted so they can’t fathom a situation that hasn’t happened to them directly.This really got inside my head; we're a selfish bunch.

Regarding Covid..the weather just turned legit nice enough to take all kinds of activities outside. and already people are complaining about how hot it's gonna be next weekend.
One of my most favorite PAs to work for has decided to leave primary care. This is his last week. Primary Care in covid times is just fucking soul crushing.

Regarding Covid..the weather just turned legit nice enough to take all kinds of activities outside. and already people are complaining about how hot it's gonna be next weekend.
One of my most favorite PAs to work for has decided to leave primary care. This is his last week. Primary Care in covid times is just fucking soul crushing.
We will live it up this summer and then prep to peace out. I have no idea how long it's going to take because we're going to have to transition a LOT this time, but it's going to be fun. We're going to be suddenly around a lot of family.
And the weather has been bizarre this past month. Today felt weird to have heat and yet it was rather fitting.
So many colleagues have left medicine entirely. I'm still not sure how this is going to play out, but I can tell you that behind the PE enemy lines there is mad panic because they "didn't see this coming"...
