fortunately no.
Life has been very complicated and very hard on top of gd covid this year - 20-24 months.
Lots of additional family elder care taking responsibilities which have just taken up ALL of my extra everything (which frankly was very little to begin with)
followed by a series of deaths which have just left me.... sad. tired. emotionally and intellectually unavailable for Lit and so much else.

to Fara and Moochie and Casc and all the other health workers here: thank you so much for all your work and so sorry about your exhaustion i'll get my third shot (ie booster shot) this weekend at my primary doc's (usually doc offices here are closed on Wed afternoon and from Fri noon to Mon early morning)

But I will add a passionate and unbridled FUCK YOU to all of those who have willfully and deliberately spread disinformation, conspiracy bullshit and outright lies about the safety of the vaccines, and who, thereby, have likewise deliberately contributed to the needless deaths and suffering of our family members, neighbors, and friends. FUCK YOU. People have died believing that crap and refusing the vaccine because of it. There is no excuse for posting such drivel on this website, or any other, and I would implore the forum admin to outright ban such posts, if I had in my power to do so.

I have not followed this thread so I don't know how prevalent it is here, but on the general and politics forums, one individual in particular has been doing this, and I have asked several times for these posts to be removed and the offending poster banned. I'm all for free speech, but not without consequences. I believe there should be consequences, in this case.

Most of us in this thread follow what the CDC puts out, are ardently pro-vaxx. Quite a few of us are nurses, and in health care, or pregnant, or have other illness going on.

Yesterday the anti-vaxxers on Twitter were pushing a story that a woman in my city had set fire to herself in protest against vaccine mandates. As far as I could tell, untrue, but these people were slavering for it to be true - they would just love to push some impressionable schmuck over the edge one way or another. And some asshole hit-and-run a vaccination nurse a few days back, apparently deliberately.

90+ people have tested positive following a wrestling tournament 12/4. Multiples school districts involved. Apparently they did not enforce masking rules. At least 3 cases were omicron.

Yup, I'm in the epicentre of Canada for it. 20% of our Covid cases are Omicron. Our local health unit is assuming all Covid cases here are Omicron and requiring all contacts, even if fully vaccinated, to quarantine for 10 days and get a PCR test 7 days after contact, so they have the possibility of having a negative result to get out of quarantine. 20 day quarantine without a test.

Took them 6 days to notify my granddaughter that someone in her English class has Covid so she's a contact. If she's got asymptomatic Covid, how many people has she been in contact with in those 6 days? Needs to quarantine until Dec. 20 and get tested ASAP. But, no appointments for testing until Dec. 24! Then it takes a few days, they're saying 6 days now, to get results. Merry Xmas! And our area is f*cked!

Oh and for the whole province, they gave all the school kids antigen tests to use every 3 days while they're off for Xmas holiday. Not the teachers of course!

Got my appointment for my booster. 17JAN. I had to balance availability with not traveling outside of my rural area. I am getting my booster an hour before my GS gets his first shot. (He's 11).

Got the word that we can work from home up to 100% of the time through the end of January. How would we have kept the lights on 10 years ago? Zoom, MS Teams and the like have been a miracle.

We're taking tons of precautions. We have cancelled our restaurant reservations for brunch. We aren't going to the parade Saturday night. We may drive around town and look at the lights while sipping Timmies Mochas. My son and his partner live in a larger city, but they are practically hermits. And at a total of 5 adults, one child and two dogs we are under Daddy Doug's new limit of 10 indoors (To those not from the Great White North, Daddy Doug is our Premier).

I hope all the Litsters here stay well. Two of my girls at work won’t vaccinate, one got it back in June. Two weeks in the hospital. Loosing hair now.

A good friend from Florida got it and died. Unvaccinated. A smart guy, but would not get vaccinated.

I got my booster a few days ago and this time it felt like someone really beat me up. After spending a day on the couch feeling very sorry for myself, I feel ok again.
