The Gifted Ones (Closed)

As Jon lays flat and still on the bed next to the unaware Crystal. He lets his eyes move over her taking in the site as she lays next to him.

Jon can only hope she will get up and he can slip to that side of the bed. He hops he can slip under the covers so if she covers up at night he can lay softly on top of her in hopes to provide some comfort to her, or maybe he can spot a pillow she may want to cuddle up to and him lay on it so she cuddles up into him.

"Apocalypse..." Crystal muttered the words without really thinking about it. As much as she wanted to focus less on the masked man's words, she couldn't help but wonder what his strange power was and how he would be able to bring about what he intended to. While she was lost in thought, without really planning on it, Crystal ended up falling asleep.

Throughout the night, Crystal suffered from nightmares. She would toss and turn violently and mumble to herself about things. When she finally woke up, morning had come, but Crystal looked like she had not slept at all. Her hair was a mess and she was clearly still tired, as if she had no energy at all.

With Jon laying flat as a sheet only on top of the blankets. He could only lay and listen. When she sleeps Jon is shocked to find out she is a roller and rolled on top of him. Now her body is pressing firmly down onto him.

He could feel her violent movements and mumbling as she sleep on him. He never had a woman sleep on him before as he was flat and inadvisable. Using both his gifts. He knows he has been walked on and never noticed. He only can hope as she wakes on top of him. She will take him for part of the bed warm from her body heat. He finds it odd, he enjoys being under her unlike when he was walked on in the past. He thinks to him self it must be laying and sleeping with someone is relaxing and soft. Where a woman walking in heals is so hard and uncaring.

Jon can only lay still and see what the woman will do as she wakes up laying on top of him. He hopes she will act normal thinking hes just part of her bed as she unknowingly dose her normal stuff with him. He can only watch and wait to see what happens.

Crystal let out a yawn while she slowly sat up. She spent a few minutes without moving before finally standing up and walking towards the closet. Hung up on the door of the open closet was a white blouse and a dark blue pleated skirt. While it did look like a school uniform, it didn't belong to any schools in the general area. Without really thinking about it, Crystal grabbed the uniform and her sword and walked out of the room, making her way to the bathroom. She took a few moments to splash some water on her face before changing into the school uniform, then returning to her room to grab her backpack.

"Today's going to be a long day." she muttered to herself while making her way out of the apartment, ignoring her growling stomach since she had not eaten since the previous afternoon and had no chance to during the party last night thanks to the masked man.

Jon felt Crystal settle down as she leaves the dream state and slowly to the waking state. Jon soon hears her yawn above him. Jon could feel the shift of her body as she sits up. Then feels him self being pulled as she turns. Unknowingly and uncaring as she moves to get up. Jon feels her hips as she sits on whats part of his hip.

Jon is re-leaved as she stands up. He can only lay still and watch her take a few steps to the closet. Jon watches her put the shirt and skirt on the door. He sees she looks over a few other outfits. She must of made up her mind that is what she wanted to wear. He watches her take the outfit and closes the closet. Jon also sees she grabs her sword then heads into the bathroom.

Jon can see her as she splashes water on her face then changes into the new clothing. He uses this time to stand and take human form. He moves to the bathroom door and peaks in the side of it just as she turns too walk out. He fallows her as she grabs her backpack and sword. Jon wonders where she will take him.

As she heads out the door Jon just slips out before she turns to lock the door. As she locks up he stands a foot behind her waiting to see what is next. Jon wonders to him self when he should slip home to get some new clothing and can run into her, or if he should stay fallowing this woman who he is so interested in while she wasn't interested in him. As he watches her. He is learning and hoping they could click or if shes really not a match at all like on the stairs.

If he dose loose track of her today. He knows where she lives and he can always slip under the door in the small crack.

The first task on Crystal's list was to take care of business involving the dress. As she walked, there was the occasional person who stopped to look at her due to how out of place she was. It was early spring and she was wearing a summer uniform from an unknown school. If it wasn't because of the uniform, it was because of her loudly growling stomach. Crystal knew she had no chance to eat anything at the party due to the masked man's interruption, but she didn't appear to be bothered by it, almost as if she was already used to it. She gave it little thought and went about her business.

As she had thought, when she went to the place she rented the dress to return it, the employee at the register wouldn't take it due to the bloodstains and the large slash in the back. She had no choice but to buy the dress off the store. Letting out a sigh as she walked out, Crystal looked around as she thought about where she should go next.

Jon was fallowing Crystal while he was invisible. He hoped she would go to a movie to give him some time to slip home and change. He wanted to run into her and try talking to her. If that plan doesn't happen he is willing to change and just wait for her at her place.

As Jon fallowed Cyrstal. He couldn't help to take in her beauty. He hopes there encounter today would go better then last night on the stair case.

It was really hard for Jon to stay invisible when she was in the dress shop trying to return the dress. He knew he had to tho because there is no way he could come up with a good story of why he was still in the clothing from last night and how he happened to show up in a dress shop. Jon felt bad for the woman he is fallowing. He can see she has a hard life. He is also getting to know allot about her and is falling for her. He has to focus on staying with her and invisible. Tho he would love to think about how he can make her life better. Sure he isn't a rich man, but he isn't lacking in anything. He tried not to think about how she felt as she slept on top of him.

As Jon fallows her. He thinks about how he should thank one of his contacts for jobs. Some times the jobs come from guys tied in with groups like the mob. Some times if they are wealthy enough can be hired by the person directly. Some times with more groups more in the lines or a PI hire him. Jon is glad he keeps his cost of living down low with little to no needs,as he is often working at one place or the other. Sometimes laying under a throw rug listening to a room as a human bug, Some times standing silently watching, and times like this fallowing. Tho this is a personal tail he is doing. Something that is almost unheard of him doing.

Crystal spent a bit of time walking around with no general direction until she went for her next destination, the local library. She needed to find information on the masked man and his "Apocalypse" scheme, or at least something about whoever or whatever was pulling his strings. Unfortunately for her, the local library had an incredible lack of books on magic in general, let alone anything about the masked man's strange power. Letting out a sigh, Crystal made her way out of the library.

"Looks like I'll have to go over to the next town. Apparently, they have a good library there. If I don't find anything about that weirdo and his scheme, I won't be able to kill him." Crystal said to herself, letting out another sigh while she started to walk away from the library, knowing she had a long walk ahead of her.

Jon was walking behind Crystal fallowing her, He smiled as she went into the library. He was happy to see this as he hoped she would be in there some time. Giving him time to walk home wash up and change then come back to the library to run into her. That is exactly what he did. He watched her split off and go into the building as he walked by it and to home. About 20 minutes later he had been driving in his car and parked right next to it. As he was about to get out he seen Crystal exiting the car.

Jon smiled as he walked up to the woman and says "Well fancy running into you again." He lets his eyes move over her body as he says "You look just as stunning in that dress last night as you do today. Did you find what your looking for in there*as he gestures to the library behind her. He could only hope her mood would be better then on the stairs of the party the night before. He leans back on his car as he waits for her response.

When Crystal heard a familiar voice, her hand moved to her sword almost instantly as she turned around to find Jon. Seeing the man and hearing his empty compliment sparked her anger, but because she was in public, she couldn't just do whatever she wanted to him. She decided instead to show her distaste for him with her words.

"You again? What the hell do you want?" Crystal questioned, deciding to ignore Jon's other question. She believed it wasn't any of his business if she found what she was after or not.

Jon smile and put his hands up saying "Wow miss spitfire...I am here for what most folks come to a library. Look for some information, and if saying you looks good. Maybe I should start saying how bad you look if that gets a more civil comment from you... You didn't look to happy, so I was wondering if this small library didn't have the info you where looking for. And here I was about to see if I could give you a lift to the next town over. I know they got a bigger one." Jon turns to walk from the passenger door to walk around the front. As he walks along the front quarter pannle he says "Odds are this towns library will be to small for me. Second thought I am just going to the next one over."He shakes his head and sighs out loud

He hopes this will give him a easy way out and may take her off her high horse. He has no clue that he is saying just where she wants to go.

He wonders how a good woman like her can be so stuck up to someone she don't know. He wishes he had a relationship with her like that one guy who drove her home last night.

"I can walk there just fine. Just leave me alone, alright?" Crystal simply replied before she started walking away without another word. She already didn't trust Jon in the slightest and part of her had the feeling that if she chose to accept the ride, she wouldn't be going to her intended destination. She knew that most men only thought of women for sex, and from how Jon looked at her, Crystal thought he was no different. She tried not to think about how annoyed she was by Jon's sudden appearance as she walked.

While it did take her a while, Crystal managed to make her way to the next town over. She made her way to the library, which was much bigger than the one she had visited before. Crystal had paid a few visits to this specific library to find information at other times, but this time, she was hoping to find what she needed, or at least a clue.

Jon shrugs his shoulders and drives off. He heads home and parks his car. He walks the 8 blocks with a spare set of clothing. He drops them at her door and slips under Crystal's door so he can unlock it. He grabs his clothing and re-locks the the door. Jon hide his clothing under her bed and walk around her place wondering where to wait.

Making her way up to the second floor of the library, Crystal gathered up as many books on magical history and about the various types of magical power that she could find. Setting down the stack of books at a table, Crystal began the long, tedious task of searching for anything that could give her an edge against the masked man and his otherworldly power. Whenever someone occasionally came by to ask her if she needed help or what she was doing, Crystal would lie and say she was doing research for a school project. While she spent the morning studying, even though she was making no progress, it reminded Crystal of a time in her past when she needed to do extensive research to find a solution.

"This isn't just to save one person this time. If that man's scheme becomes reality, everyone will die. I have to find a way to stop him. He's doing his part to keep his end of our promise, after all. I have to keep working hard to do my part, but..." Crystal trailed off, setting down the fifth book she had gone through in the past hour. No matter how much she read, she couldn't find even a shred of information on the masked man's strange powers or even who his master was. It was as if such a person didn't exist in the first place.

"None of this makes any sense. It's like trying to find a phantom." Crystal said to herself while she gathered up the books and went to return them to their shelves. At that time, she tried to think over why none of the books even so much as mentioned the man's strange power or any clues on who his master might be. At the moment, if she wanted answers, she'd likely have to hunt down the man herself, even if she had no idea who it was under the mask. Once all the books were put away, Crystal made her way to a nearby convenience store to get herself a sandwich or something before she was off to her next destination.

Jon reforms and start to look inside her apartment. As he walks around. He peeks inside the different draws while he waits. Looking first in the kitchen then in her bathroom. While he is in the bathroom he hears a female voice in the main hallway. He closes the bathroom draw and listens to see if the female muffled voice is going to come to this apartment or next one. Jon is doubtful its the voice of the lady who he wants to know more about. Tho he is listening as it could be a friend or a family member. He also knows its just as likely to be someone going to the next apartment. In the bathroom he knows he has time to go invisible if he needs to, but right now he is visible.

After getting something to eat from a nearby store, Crystal chose to take a break and headed to a local park to eat. While she was eating her sandwich, she was observing other people going about their daily lives. When she saw a young boy and a girl he assumed was his younger sister running around and playing, it reminded her of her own family, and that was something she really didn't want to think about. She stopped eating her sandwich and looked away from the kids.

"Nina..." Crystal said to herself without thinking, remembering the name of her deceased sister. Among her family, the only ones left alive were Crystal and her dad, but the two were on terrible terms mostly due to her dad being the type to use people like pawns. When she thought about her sister, however, all she could feel was guilt. Crystal let out a sigh and stood up, starting to walk away from the bench she was sitting at. She wanted to forget about the memories that raced through her mind, and she figured the only way to forget was to take her frustration out on training.

Jon has no idea where shes at or when she will be home. He makes his way to the couch and lays on his back and waits. As he lays down and wait he looks out the window and lets his mind drift as he watches the world go by.

On her way to her usual training spot, Crystal had to pass by a high school. Classes were just getting out and students were walking out to go home for the day. While she paid little mind to most of them, she stopped dead in her tracks when she saw a certain someone. A black haired boy was walking with his blonde haired friend, talking about something. The boys looked to be the same age as Crystal. When she noticed them looking in her direction, she turned away and started walking away.

"So they're still friends even here. Fate really is cruel." Crystal mumbled to herself. The blonde haired boy slapped his friend in the arm and pointed to Crystal.

"Hey, Sam, do you know that girl?" the blonde haired boy asked only for his friend to shake his head.

"I've never seen her before. That uniform isn't from any nearby school, either." the boy named Sam replied.

"You sure? She was looking over here like she just saw a long lost friend for the first time in years." the blonde haired boy said, a smile creeping up on his face. "She's pretty cute, too." he added only to get a sigh from Sam.

"Derek, do you ever not think about girls?" Sam asked only for Derek to put a hand on his shoulder.

"Listen to me, buddy. We aren't going to be young forever. One day you'll understand, but since you've never even been on a date, I have my doubts." Derek said, mumbling the last part to himself. Even though she had long since left, Crystal let out a sigh. Deep down, she had a feeling that Derek was attempting to poison Sam's mind with his one track thoughts about girls. Seeing the two helped to steel her resolve to stop the masked man's scheme.

Jon gets up off the couch and starts to look around for any info about who owns this apartment. He is lifting paper one by one. To read them, while keeping them in a pile. He wanted to read them to learn about her and pass the time while he waits. Its not like he can turn on the tv or radio with not knowing when she will be home.

As he was reading he wonders if he should sleep with her again. He did enjoy the feel of his body on top of his thin body as he was spreed out over her bed. A part of him is regretting he didn't stay with her.

Jon is left wondering what shes doing.

Crystal made her way to her usual training spot in the forest. Several trees had tons of cut marks in them from her sword. She spent the time trying to work on her technique, thinking about how the masked man and his powers worked. Even when she spent the whole afternoon practicing, swinging at invisible enemies and trying to figure out a way to deal with the masked man, she came no closer to an answer. Noticing the sun was starting to set, Crystal decided to take a break and see if she could get any work.

While it took a bit of time, Crystal made her way to a bar in a shady part of town. When she walked inside, her nose was assaulted by the smell of alcohol. Men and women were sitting around, drinking and talking among themselves. A large board with various papers lined a wall towards the back near the bar while a large stack of papers sat nearby, likely because the bartender was busy serving drinks. Of course, such a place was no place for someone of Crystal's age, but she already knew she was below drinking age and didn't care for alcohol, anyway. She only went to the place to get more jobs. Since the bartender was busy, she took a seat at a stool and waited for him.

While she was waiting around, a few men approached Crystal. She could feel one of them looking over her body, which didn't help her already foul mood. When she turned around, she found a tall blonde haired man and a couple of his friends. Crystal could feel an odd presence about the blonde haired man and concluded to herself that he wasn't human.

"What do you want?" Crystal questioned, glaring daggers at the man who smiled and put his hands up. She could tell he wasn't intimidated by her glare at all.

"Whoa there, killer. I was just wondering what a pretty little thing is doing around here? Aren't you a bit young to be drinking? You look like you're a high schooler, but..." the man trailed off, smiling a bit to himself and thinking about how he'd like to get Crystal in his bed.

"I don't drink. I'm here to get more work." Crystal said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Upon hearing this, the blonde haired man's smile only got bigger.

"Some work, huh?" the man asked, pausing for a moment. "I got a job you can do. It's real easy."

"No thanks." Crystal immediately replied.

"You didn't even hear what the job was, though. Come on, we can talk about it in my hotel room." the man said.

"And you didn't hear me. I told you I wasn't interested." Crystal said, finally raising her voice because she was getting annoyed by the man's persistence.

"And I'm just trying to offer you a nice and easy job a girl like you can do. All you need to do is know your place, get on your knees, and suck my-" the man tried to say, but before he could finish his sentence, Crystal had already stood up and unsheathed her sword, pointing it at the man's throat.

"If you dare finish that sentence, I'll send your head flying off right here." Crystal said. Unlike her usual threats, she was deadly serious. The man bit his lip and let out a low growl.

"Listen, bitch, women like you only have one place in this world. People like you are nothing but tools for the pleasure of people like me. Now, if you won't take your place where you belong, then I'll just make you." the man said, finally cutting out his nice guy act and unleashing his true colors. He ignored the sword at his neck and roughly reached out and grabbed Crystal's wrist. For a brief moment, a memory flashed through Crystal's mind, and as if on instinct instead of rational thought, Crystal swung her sword, slashing the man in the shoulder.

"You bitch!" he screamed, releasing his grip on Crystal and taking a few steps back. Other patrons stopped their drinking and conversation to get a look at the scene that was unfolding, but returned to what they were doing shortly afterward, as if violence was an everyday thing. The usually calm and composed Crystal was breathing heavily, her sword arm shaking. She didn't appear focused at all on what she had done or even what was going on. She took a deep breath, turning her attention to the man she just attacked. She noticed that his left arm was covered with scales like a snake when he slowly moved his arm back and ended up lifting his sleeve.

'He's a demihuman?' Crystal thought to herself. The man growled and looked like he was going to attack her, but one of the man's friends stopped him.

"It's not worth it, man. Chill out." the guy said to the snakelike man. He glared at Crystal before turning around.

"I won't forget this. You better be sleeping with one eye open from now on, bitch." the snakelike man said before he left with his friends. Crystal tightened the grip on her sword and sighed to herself.

As Jon waits hoping she will return home. He lays on the bed where he seen her sitting when they first came into her home. He stretches out and enjoys sleeping in her spot...If she dont come home tonight he can use his sources to help track the little bomb shell down.

After the incident at the bar, Crystal decided to return to her training area to work on her technique a bit more, but she could hardly focus. All she could think about were the horrible memories that were flooding back to the surface of her mind. Knowing that she wouldn't be able to get any training done in such a state, she instead chose to sleep. Since bears were known to occasionally wander the area, Crystal climbed up a tree, using several climbing ropes to tie herself to the tree to prevent herself from falling out when she had her usual string of nightmares. Letting out a sigh, Crystal closed her eyes and slowly fell asleep.

Elsewhere, a group of figures in masks made their approach to a large town. Four of them stood at the head of the group.

"In the name of the Masked Circle, the powerless humans will be eliminated!" the four called out.

As Jon slept he had a dream. That he was laying in her bed and she came home half of his body was over some folder back covers as he lays flat. He lays on his back watching her undress and sits on top of him for a second then turns and lays on her front. She then grabs him and the covers pulling them over her. She wiggles on top of him getting comfortable and falls asleep with him wrapped around her.

Jon woke up sighing as he had really been laying face down into her pillow smelling the shampoo or body spray that has been imprinted in the pillow.. He sighs in frustration. He tells him self "9am I am on the hunt, I gotta find her."

Due to her trouble with sleeping, Crystal didn't really get much sleep at all. She ended up waking up before dawn to use the ropes she had used to tie herself to the tree to set traps for small animals to hopefully catch. She changed out of her school uniform into a dark purple tanktop and shorts that she kept in her bag for days she intended to spend entirely on her training, ignoring the problems of the outside world. It reminded her of another time, one that felt like an eternity ago but was only about six months ago as far as normal people were concerned. She spent the entire morning on her training, running through the forest and swinging at targets that weren't actually there. Trying to avoid the trees as she ran helped her keep focus on dodging while attacking.

Once around noon came by, she decided to stop for now and head back into town to get some food. Even though she was covered in dirt and sweat, she didn't really care. At the same time, however, she was more cautious than usual because of the snakelike man from the previous night. Even as she walked out of the forest, she could remember the glare he gave her. She knew he meant business, and something was suspicious about him. She had no idea that there were bigger issues until she heard ringing coming from her bag. Letting out a sigh, she stopped, opened up the bag, and took out her phone. It was a simple flip phone, something very uncommon in the current day and age, but Crystal wanted something simple since she had no friends to text. When she answered the phone, the voice of the man who hosted the party shouted at her.

"Where the hell have you been?! I've been trying to call you all morning!" the man shouted.

"I've been busy. Anyway, what do you want? Didn't I tell you to contact me in a few days?" Crystal replied.

"Have you been under a rock since yesterday? Haven't you heard the news?" the man asked.

"What news?" Crystal questioned, but as if the universe was answering her question for her, as she walked past a store with a number of TVs on display, a news flash came up. Crystal's eyes widened when the screen changed to show the destruction. Massive craters littered the streets. Many of the buildings were burned, as if someone set the entire place ablaze. What stood out the most was a large, single line of the area that looked like it was completely erased from existence by some kind of laser. It reminded Crystal a lot of the blast of energy that could've killed her instantly had she not avoided it back at the party.

"We are live at the remains of Balerno, where last night, a strange group calling themselves the Masked Circle attacked, using their powers to slaughter those who did not posses any special abilities along with destroying the town. Authorities are searching for these individuals and trying to establish a reason for these actions. More at eleven." a newscaster said before the screen flashed to more images of the carnage and destruction apparently caused by this "Masked Circle."

"Hey, are you still there?" the man tried to ask, but Crystal ignored his words as if she couldn't hear them. Seeing the destruction caused by the Masked Circle reminded her of something in her past.

'It's almost like that day...' Crystal thought to herself.

It is early morning when Jon woke up. The sun was just coming up. Jon makes him self some toast and looks around for something to read. Jon wonders if he will have to track her down and how long can this woman stay away from her apartment. Jon is starting to get worried. He knew something about her was unlike other females, but he is shocked she can stay away for so long.
