real as in hand forged 12th century, or "real" as in cast metal replica like all the so called "real swords" that Mythbusters used in their sword versus sword and gun versus sword myths?

Just say Merry Christmas Dragon and let Jefafa enjoy his sword.

Merry Christmas to everyone that celebrates it.

Thanks, Lusty! Merry Christmas! And Joe, it was made in modern day, but it is very durable. It came in a thick triangular cardboard UPS box, and I tested the sword out by attacking the box in a series of swipes, slashes, and stabs -- I think I found a new way for me to burn calories. The sword isn't very sharp, and I'm going to keep it that way until I have spent a few years weilding it and mastered swordplay. Then I'll sharpen it and make a bunch of dummies or something to fight and slice up, hehe.

of course it's not very sharp. They have to be dulled in order to be sold in the US legally. Which is funny because when they're cast then tempered and sharpened, they are done so to a true razor's edge, able to slice through paper without even moving the blade. But they're stainless steel, not worth being used for swords. That's the mistake most people make. Stainless is actually NOT a strong enough metal, which is why the Mythbusters really FAILED to bust or prove either gun versus sword or sword versus sword. modern replicas sacrifice any semblance of what it takes to make a sword a sword, in order to lighten it to be weilded by a person of modern strengths.

a real sword is made of a much more durable version of steel only made in certain places. In the case of the Katana, the steel itself is usually hand-blended and cast in a block prior to forging in Okinawa.

Generally, a Katana has very strong metal on the outside, but it's got much softer metal in the core of the blade. This allows it to bend and absorb impacts better than normal swords.

Yes I am :p. My mom thought it was the most hiliarious thing ever when I opened that present, got all excited, and started attacking boxes, hehe.

which is accomplished through a process inherited from contact with external sources. Before a certain time period, the Japanese made the swords folded only a few times. After that, as many as 20 folds went into the forging processm and that's just for the ones for low class soldiers

Merry Late Christmas, minna. :3

*snogs her Christmas teddy*

Dude, I slept all day yesterday. xD Some holiday celebration, eh?

lol....I never should have taught you that particular bit of British slang...

*huggles Shuu*

I'm sorry your Christmas was like that, Shuu. Next year you are spending the holidays with my family. End of story. Period. Period. Got a problem with that? No. I didn't think so. You're not stupid enough to spend another holiday alone, right? Nobody's THAT stupid, right? RIGHT? Damn straight.

*looks both ways, then raises hand* I am that stupid...I plan on taking a cue from the birds and migrating south next christmas......some place warm and away from the stress that's involved with my family gatherings.

Well, I've got good news and bad news.

The Good News: My brother and I bought an X-Box 360 with Need For Speed: Undercover, Fable II, and Crackdown.

The Bad News: We're all gonna die, LOL. In the last two weeks, there have been over 200 earthquakes in Yellowstone National Park, home of a huge supervolcano. When it blasts, everyone in this area will be instantly incinerated in the explosion. If we somehow manage to survive the initial blast, the ash will suffocate us within an hour. Theoretically, so much ash will be pumped into the atmosphere that it will block out the sun and the world will enter another ice age. Then, all plantlife will be frozen and thus cannot give of oxygen. So, take your pick -- death by explosion, suffocation, or hypothermia, lol. The last time this happened -- roughly 70,000 to 80,000 years ago -- there was at least eight feet of ash as far as Nebraska.

It's not a matter of IF. This WILL happen, just as it has roughly every 75,000 years. The pressure IS building, and eventually, it WILL blow. I just hope it doesn't go until I have lived my life and passed from the world of the living, lol. However, it would be neat if it went when I was about 70, having lived a good life, an then as one last awesome moment, I got to see the blast up close as it flows out and destroys me. I am not scared of death, but I don't want it to take me anytime soon. I have too much still to do. But, if it comes to that and death is moments away, I will embrace it and pass on as nature intends.

there's a possible solution however. Relieve the pressure slowly over the next few years or so through controlled detonation.

Sorry guys but I don't think I'm gonna be RPing anymore. I know I promised you Dragon but I just got some medical news and I'm no longer feeling the urge to RP. Plus my boyfriend doesn't like the idea of me RPing with other guys. I'll still pop in once in a while though. Love you guys. :cattail:

Everything ok??

Okay, just for the record, Fable II is, like, the BEST video game I have ever played. Period. This makes Final Fantasy VII and XII look like that horrible 8-bit ET game. I started playing this game yesterday afternoon, and I could NOT put the controller down. I had to be on the verge of pissing my pants before I'd pause and go to the bathroom. I played for like ten or twelve hours straight, finally dragging myself to bed about six this morning, and I had to be at work two hours later. I am TIRED, lmao. But this game is SO FUCKING ADDICTING. By chaining together spells, sword attacks, and rifle shots, my character is almost unstoppable, and I didn't use a single cheat code. I make a lot of use out of the Time Control spell, which slows down time. However, all spells have two modes -- Surround and Target. By using Target Time Control at the exact right moment, I can move so fast that I basically teleport right behind my opponent, attack them a few times, and when they turn to face me, do the same thing over and over. That combined with rifle shots from a distance, lightning bolts, fireballs, energy blasts, summoning ghosts, instilling chaos and fear in enemies, throwing magical blades made out of energy, and creating dangerous cyclones of wind make my character incredibly powerful. Oh, did I mention my character is evil? Hehehe. Based on all the evil deeds he has done since I started the game, he has turned from a handsome young man into a hellish warrior covered in scars, grey skin, glowing eyes, and horns.

What I love most is that in Fable II, there is no game over. You never die. If your health drops to zero, you pass out, but after a moment, you jump up to rejoin the fight with a full bar of health. The penalty? Any XP Orbs you have yet to collect from damaged enemies in that particular battle will vanish when your bar reaches zero, and each time the bar depletes, you gain a few extra scars.

And Lusty, I'm sorry things aren't going well. *hugs*
