I think I've been around on here since about 2007 and on that basis I think I probably qualify as an old timer!

This post deserved more attention.
June 2003. Right hand cornerI'll have to post to see when I started. Been around.
I'm certainly slowing down, I know that. This morning I had a bad episode of brain fog.
You never think you'll get to this point when you are younger and than wham! Reality smacks you in the ass.
In my mind, I think I'm in my 30s. My body doesn't agree, but what does it know?
Still alive. In fact I just took a trip for several days with @ImiGirrst and we talked about a bunch of you reprobates
For those of you who may have already eaten your hurricane snacks, you still have a few hours to restock. I would get a move on in case the stores decide to close a little early tonight.
Those are hard to find.feels like "home".
yikes. at least ya'll are safe tho. What a freakin' mess. Seriously. It was a baby hurricane, y'all. HUGE trees down all over the flippin' place. 5 down on my street alone -- blocking the entire street. Trees taking out roofs, driveways, sidewalks and decking. Here we are 10 or 11 days out and there are people in my subdivision who still don't have power. I got power back here Monday night (Day 8) but it's not right. My AC isn't working, several appliances out. Refrigerator is out. I lost a 25footish treet in my backyard that took out a piece of the fence. I need to find someone with a chainsaw to help cut it up and get it out to the curb before the county trucks come by to collect all the tree branches and stuff. Then an electrician to figure out what's going on. I moved over to my daughter's home (power & AC) and come back to my house every day to check on things, feed the cat, etc. before the heat just does me in. The power company really dropped the ball. They did not use money they were supposed to to cut trees away from power lines. They haven't upgraded from wooden poles to cement. They didn't preposition out of area crews beforehand. Once they arrived, they dicked around for 2-3 days on contract negotiations before they'd let them get to work...AND....have heard stores from the linemen that the power company told them they'd have to pay for their own hotel and food -- not something they were used to. Total fubar. I hope someone holds them accountable for this insanity.

No but they'll raise our insurance rates anyway. My homeowner's went up 50% this year alone.I hate to say it, but I doubt anyone will when it comes to being different next time because Texas is a red state.
The only way things will be different is if the insurance companies pull out - and for a baby storm, they probably won't.
JEEZ! I don't think we've seen that but I could be wrong. I want to say we havent seen that kind of rate raise since 2004 with the multiple hurricanes or in the aftermath of Andrew! No but they'll raise our insurance rates anyway. My homeowner's went up 50% this year alone.
It's closer to the beginning of 2025, and my OF fares poorly. Bitcoin mining might be the future.I'm just here to ask if anyone wants me to send them n00ds.
Alternatively, as this is 2023 (almost 2024), a link to my OF.
