The Lounge's Autumn Escape

she couldn't have stopped the excited sound that followed Duchess' announcement from leaving her lips, even if she'd tried

"It's going to be a good party this year...I can sense it!"

trundles up to one of the cabins, steadily pushing her pumpkin cart. It's a little early, but who knows when she'll have the chance to set things up? Besides, there's always more pumpkins in the virtual pumpkin world. Any slumping jack-o-lanterns can be easily replaced. With an "oof" and muttered expletives, she maneuvers the cart through crunching leaves and sets down the handles gingerly. She's about to brush her hands off on her pants before she remembers her fondness for the autumnal garments. Better not to get cart and pumpkin dust all over everything... Shaking her auburn hair out of her face, she wanders into the cabin in search of a sink.

was already smiling at the sunlight filtering down through the golden leaves but it widens at seeing the cart piled high with pumpkins

"Oh yay!" she bounces with a little clap of her hands "I was hoping this would turn up soon. Might have to borrow one or two...or twenty...of these for the Hallowe'en party. Am sure no one will mind." She grins while looking over the orange vegetables.

Smiling Brit settles down in a clearing not far from one of the larger cabins. In the centre of the clearing, surrounded by stones, is a camp fire.

There is some rather basic wooden furniture nearby, a sturdy looking table and some chairs and benches of varying styles, and it is in one of these chairs that she now sits with a notebook open in her lap. A large tartan blanket resting around her shoulders like a shawl and a glint in her eye that has been noticeably absent for a while.

"Time to plan..." she murmurs to herself before starting to make a long list in her notebook.

Ooooh! They're some lovely shots, Mac. Autumn is definitely in the air.

Brit sighs as she plops down next to a conveniently placed campfire

Hope everyone has been keeping well. Things have been more than a tad crazy with me lately but hopefully most of the madness is now over!

Better stoke up the fire Brit we have been forecast snow here!

Glad to hear your "madness" has cleared up, now back to the normal insanity :)

There is a definite bite in the air now, especially when the sun is below the horizon.

Still. That just means a bigger campfire is in order, with more blankets and plenty of warming beverages.

Grinning as warmly as the fire she's stoking, Brit tosses a few more branches onto the campfire before settling down with her notebook, snuggling into a blanket.

There is writing to be done.

I find a fire and someone to talk to.

I walk up and introduce my self "hello I'm JC do you mind if I join you?"

Blue eyes look up at the sound of a new voice and lips curve into a friendly smile

"Of course! It's always lovely to make new friends. There's plenty of room close to the fire. I'm Britwitch but most people just call me Brit."

"Thank you Brit."I say sitting down final glad to be warm.

"What are you working on if you don't mind me asking?" I say pionting at the notebook.

"A few things. I owe posts here at Lit, which my ever patient writing partners have waited more than long enough for, and I'm planning ready for next month's NaNoWriMo. I have a novel I'm aching to finish writing and I'm hoping next month will be the time to do it." She grins excitedly.

"How about you? Do you like to write?"

"Just a few things here on lit.writing not really never really had a nac for writing. I'm more for a drawer than anything else I'm trying to get my skills back up to par so I can start a comic book. What is NaNoWriMo?" I say giving her a puzzled look.

"NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month and it happens every November. The idea is to write 50,000 words in 30 days. They also have Camp NaNoWriMo that happens in April and July, usually, where you can choose to write whatever you like over the course of a month. Anything project from 10,000 words and upwards. NaNoWriMo is supposed to be just for novels but Camp can be for scripts and screenplays, biographies...comics." She winks.

"No one checks what you've written, unless you post it somewhere, it's a personal challenge as much as anything. But I love doing it! This will be my third NaNo and I'm really excited for it."

Is NaNoWriMo something that happens in your country Brit or is it spread further afield?
Just got the vibe to hit the keyboard for a bit today to try and bring together a story for your October challenge, only problem, the other half is on my machine at work!
Hopefully I'll get it all stitched together for the end of the month.

Hope everyone is having a good (and warm) weekend.

"It's an international thing, based in the US but you can do it anywhere in the world. You can find out more at their website." Brit replies with a smile, "And it's nice to see you, Mac. Exciting news that you might be writing for the challenge. I'm hoping to get something down for it myself...as well as finishing preparations for the Hallowe'en party. As ever, I'm keeping myself busy!"

"I haven't forgotten our thread idea either, have no fear of that." She winks.

I'll have to have a look at the website, I'm glad this fire has Wifi ;)
I think we are all looking forward to seeing what creations you come up with for the Halowe'en Party.
No worries abouth the thread I'm sure it will come together sometime :)

(Sorry I didn’t respond back last night the Sandman finally won the battle of sleep.)

“Haven’t looked at the web site yet but from what you told me the camp sounds pretty interesting. If I was in my hay days where I could draw free handed existing comic/ Manga characters Like I scanned and printed them I would go to the camp but alas I can’t draw like I was able to when I was younger.”

"Skills like that never really disappear, you just need to...rediscover them." Brit smiles. "I'm sure you'll get the knack back and then you'll be able to draw to your heart's content."

"Who knows, maybe I'll see you at Camp one year!" She giggles with a wink before throwing a log onto the fire.

"who knows maybe... maybe." He said giving her a grin.

"What is up with this Halloween party I hear about on here?"
