The Lounge's Summer Pool Party!!

Ah. Makes much more sense. I'm going to be awfully rude and fall asleep in about ten seco...

delicate snoring

<Essie's delicate, ladylike snoring merges with the hoggish slumber of Des Esseintes. The fire sinks to a glow, as Monroe solicitously tucks the blankets around his sleeping guests before arranging a few subtle tealights around the tables and departing for his own rest.>

quietly walks out onto the decking in a swimsuit, relishing the cool early afternoon air

Hello, anyone... It has been quiet around here lately.

sinks into the cool water of the pool as it gently surrounds her tired limbs

It has!

agrees as she strolls in, notebook under one arm and pen over an ear

sinking onto a lounger, cross legged

I know I've had a mad week, guess it must be going around. But, anyway, how's you, lovely?

Not bad, not bad. I got to skype with the American last night although he ended up getting called away twice for work, but it was lovely to see him nevertheless.

Other than that I've been working the last couple of days, today and tomorrow night and then I'm off until Saturday. It's crazy how quick the weeks are passing by.

treads water

How's Baby? Feeling better?

Yay for Skype dates!

grins sappily, resting her chin in her hands

You'll be there before you know it.

And thanks, Baby is a lot better. There's a nasty cough lingering around the house but I think it's on it's way out, finally! And otherwise, things are pretty good. Been writing a fair bit, work's settling down and there are plans - I love plans! - for the upcoming weeks and months at work and at home which should be fun. Including a day spent in the forest on Friday learning about being an 'adventurous' teacher.

giggles

Can't wait!

A day in the forest doing stuff like that sounds fun!! I'm driving myself to do a few more outgoing things since I started doing the #100happydays challenge on Facebook. But with the length of some of my shifts at work it makes it hard to do, but it's surprising the little things you can find that make you smile, even at work.

grins

For example, I listen to audiobooks because my work is very visual and I can't really afford to look at anything other than what I look at, so audiobooks work. I've been on a real Stephen King phase. I've read most of his books but I just decided to reread some of them via audio. I did Pet Sematary last week, and yesterday I finished Cujo and started The Shining. Thank god for YouTube!

I'm glad to hear Baby Brit is doing better, it's hateful when a bug gets into the house and just rocks around everyone. My dad has the sniffles at the minute so I'm loading up on my Vit C in preparation :)

So what are your plans for today? Hope it's nice where you are. It's lovely here, and hopefully it'll continue to be lovely even though I have to disappear into a bombproof room for nine hours later...

I love reading people's happy days! I haven't done it myself, not yet anyway, but then I keep getting nominated for those '3 positives a day for 5 days' challenges so I get to add to the optimism meter every so often.

winks

Yesterday was gloriously sunny so we spent a lot of it in the city park, picnic, feeding the ducks, the works.
Today isn't so good weatherwise but we've been outside - drawing with chalk for the most part - and while they nap I'm painting my nails and working on some words.

A pretty lazy Sunday, which feels good to have for a change!

Hope you can enjoy yours until work takes you away. And I love Stephen King! I really don't get time to read any more but I always loved his stuff.

I adore it. Hopefully my shift today should take me over halfway through The Shining. Then after that I think I'll do the sequel, Doctor Sleep. I've heard good things about 22/11/63 so might give it a go after that.

My happy days probably aren't as exciting as others, I lead a simple life, but with the long distance, both Mister and I were beginning to feel the strain and my moods were a little morose at times, so I wanted to do something positive to alleviate it.

Yesterday it was listening to the Lost in Translation soundtrack after work.

swims on her back

I paint my nails every other day, I'm treating them with this stuff that's supposed to make them grow faster. It strengthens them anyway. I'm trying to grow them a bit, so they're painted various colours every two days to keep me from biting them! I mean, I can't scrape nothing down Sir's back in November...

:D

Wakes up from her long nap and yawns

I swear I heard someone talking about Stephen King.... shrugs. Oh well, 22/11/63 is a very good book, worth reading.

Pads out to the pool and sits on the edge, happily accepting a bottle of Rekorderlig apple & blackcurrant cider from a smiley Monroe.

Just the trick, lovely man. I plan to get a little bit smasharoonied ;)

A worried Monroe retreats to the bar to make sure the floaties and inflatable pool toys are in working order, just in case....

True!

nods and smiles approvingly

Whenever I sit down to paint mine I usually end up painting the nails of mini witches, but I try to make mine look presentable once a week. Before I cover them in paint and glue and glitter in the course of a day at work.

grins and waves at a busy looking Monroe behind the bar

And if it made you happy, that's all that matters. That is the point, after all, to find the joy in your everyday life. Music makes me happy too.

And, are you sure that's wise, lovely?

giggles at Essie

glances at Essie

Again, honey?

rises out of the pool to avoid any placement in a possible path of destruction, giggling

Time zones suck, you know. Just as you're settling down for an evening of fun times, I'm getting ready to go to work, and during the entirety of my shift, you'll be sleeping. It's crazy!

So how've you been? You've not been around much. Crazy week for you too?

Drains bottle and gets to feet, carefully walking over to bar and putting empty bottle in bin

Nice to see you, ladies, time for my half of the world to sleep. G'night.

lays by the pool

Perfect late summer hazy lazy Sunday here. I've never had a mint julep but today seems like a mint julep day.

Weather warning for where I am:

Going to feel like 98 to 104 this week (that's 36 to 40 centigrade)!

May I please have a warm brandy Monroe ... I'm afraid I am a sick girl

Runs along the deck and does a giant cannonball into the pool, sending up a big splash

Oh my God that feels good! Just finished my first dance class in ages and I need to cool down big time :)

Sprawls out lazily on a lounger, wearing a giant raincoat, watching Essie in amusement

Well done! What kinda dance was it?

Doing dolphin dives in the pool, relishing the cool water

It was a Zumba class but haven't done it in years. But it was so much fun - lots of sweat and bouncing and shaking of bits ;)

Ha, yeah I've only done it once. So hard, but much fun!

Monroe, get me a hot drink please? And the sun, if you will.

Turns on back in pool, floating gently, watching the clouds roll around the sky, letting the water soothe the aches and pains

Hops out of the pool and towels off, enjoying the warmth of the sun.

I need to do this more, just chill out in nature. Monroe, can you put something.... chilly on?

Monroe grins and soon Massive Attack is wafting across the deck.

Ohhhh, you know just how to make a girl feel relaxed, Monroe. Come dance with me.

Hips swaying, shoulders moving, arms raising, the music acts like a massage, soothing all the tension away.

Lies down after a nice, long shower, enjoying the passion fruit scent of her body scrub (it's so beautiful), as she tries to envision the warmth of the sun one last time. Then retrieves her fluffiest blanket and her knitting.

Starry!! Ooh, you do smell pretty *hugs*

Come dance with me, it'll warm you up more than a fluffily cosy blanket :D

Though if you're knitting, I don't want to disturb you... ;)

I guess I can take a dancing break ;P

Though you must be careful not to touch my nails, which are still drying. You'll get red on ya.
