The Lounge's Summer Pool Party!!

Ooh, nice crimson talons, Starry - very femme fatale ;)

Is all good, we shall be pretty ballerinas and twirl ourselves happy!

Two ladies giggle as the music segues into some lilting classical piece, pretending they're prima ballerinas, leaping and twirling across the deck as an amused Monroe mixes up a pitcher of Gin Fizzes.

I guess I can take a dancing break ;P

Though you must be careful not to touch my nails, which are still drying. You'll get red on ya.

Ooh we just need one more lady and we can do the Swan Lake dance - you know, the one with the four ladies where they cross arms and hold hands and go jiggy-jiggy-jiggy- point... reverse... jiggy-jiggy-jiggy-point across the stage.

Bounces on spot with glee.

Except no holding hands because Starry will smudge. Just pretending *nod nods*

<Collapses onto chaise longue after what seems like a very long day. Pulls out lorgnette, then thinks better of it and retrieves tortoiseshell opera glasses from under one of the scatter cushions. Enjoys the beautiful dancing, lights a Black Russian, and begins to relax at last.>

Evenin' all.

Evening, Des!

Glad you're enjoying the show, but as Essie says, we need one more to complete the danse des petits cygnes. Care to join us? I think you could totes pull off a pancake tutu.

belly flop into the pool

By the way, when does the Lounge pool close? Is September 1st the end of the season? :( :p

I fear it would be but a pas-de-deux, Starry, as your partners have deserted you. But my forte is ballroom, not ballet. I may be reduced to dancing with myself, like poor Leland Palmer.

Sitting forlornly on lounger, hugging Ted

I wanted to be a little swan. Hmph.

Monroe appears with a hot chocolate with extra whipped cream and chocolate shavings

Wheeeeee! Chocolate! Okay, I'm easily distracted....

Drinks heartily, sporting a dairy-based moustache afterwards

Still sitting by herself on a lounger, with ever faithful Ted

It's rather lonely here, Ted. And if the rumours are true, the pool may be closing in a few days because it won't be summer anymore :(

Yes, Ted, I know that it's not summer here but it's summer up north.

I think it's time for a swim, Ted. Have you got your goggles? No? Fine, you stay here.

Dives neatly into pool and starts doing a few lazy laps of sidestroke, hoping someone will come along soon, if only to keep Ted company

Brit wanders in, with a notice under her arm

after exchanging a few quiet words with Monroe, and giving a smile and a wave to those assembled, she departs leaving him to put up the notice for all to see

NOTICE

Despite several rumours doing the rounds, the pool will remain
open for at least another fortnight.

A new seasonal social spot is, however, in the making and will
be advertised here when more information is available.

Enjoy the sea, the sun and the sparkling social opportunities for a little while longer.

Summer is coming to a close but it's not over yet!

Best wishes,

Brit and the Managament

Wiping water from her eyes and waving at a departing Brit, peers at the notice Monroe has pinned up

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

Does a series of backwards somersaults in the pool, gets dizzy then gets hiccups

Bugger.

Woo hoo! Autumn is on the way.

relaxes on a bar stool

I got nominated for the ice bucket challenge today. Twice.

Need to decide on a suitable outfit. I'm thinking onesie?

Doing it with my 9 year old cousin and wanna make it fun for him

:) Summer is a mental state, not a season.

Waves at Pretty and gives her a little hug

I don't know if onesie best outfit. If it's a furry one, it might get a bit water logged.

Perhaps a transparent rain poncho? With underwear on, of course...

I donate money to several charities by Direct Debit. I have never felt the need to tell all my friends about this. Nor have I heard that the money is improved when the donor covers themselves in baked beans, or ice, or runs a marathon wearing a funny suit, or any other prank.

This is not a dig at you, Ms. Serpentine, but at a world and an outlook which seems, essentially, to say 'I know that cancer/MS/(insert charity of choice here) is awful, and that a donation can really help. And I have the money to help. It's just...I don't know. Perhaps if you made a fool of yourself first?'

It seems odd to me.

<Settles into a lounger, facing the sea, and enjoys the moments of transition from summer to autumn. >

This is one of my favorite times of the year, too (at the ocean-pool). The air is still warm, but less HHH. (hazy, hot, humid) I don sunscreen, pick up a book, and place an order for a reuben and a diet pepsi with Monroe. (I'm saving a cocktail for company. )

Happy end of summer, everyone.

Sidney!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pirouettes over and gives her a big hug. As does Ted. But without the pirouetting. Just the hugging

Honestly, I think it is a form of peer pressure disguised as fun. It's also a way for celebrities to goof on celebrities, and everyone seems to be having fun doing it and it is raising awareness. I'd like to see something happening around diabetes, though. I'm also not fully convinced that throwing more money at a disease is the answer. If I were to throw money at anything, it would be stem cell research.

Buy yeah, back to my pleasure reading. . .

Hi, dahling!!!!!!!!

How are you? How is the sunset in your world?

I do the same, DD charity donations via my work.

I also really find up the negativity around this kind of thing discouraging. My uncle died from motor neurone disease / ALS so it means a lot to me. I don't mind if people makes fools out of themselves for a good cause. But it's each to their own, I guess. I just try and not let the negativity get to me. Illness is negative enough.

Edit:

Also, Essie - I did it in a onesie! The video is on YouTube as proof.

Claps wildly and does little cheer for Pretty

Well done you! Hmm, I might find it difficult to find the evidence of this on YouTube but if you would care to share the link in a PM, I would be more than happy to observe you in your wet onesie ;)
