The Lounge's Summer Pool Party!!

Towelling off by the side of the pool, in a retro green gingham one-piece

Evening, beautiful! Love what you've done with the lights.... and the sunset is particularly gorgeous tonight. Sigh, if only we had a pair of handsome beaus to dance with...

Shrugging, goes up to Brit and offers her hand, grinning

Would Madame care to dance? ;)

Adopting a shockingly bad 'southern' accent, Brit fans herself and flutters her lashes outrageously.

Why, Miss Essie, I do declare...I thought you'd never ask...!

Giggling she takes her hand, and the two dance around the decking, a grinning barman flicking on the sound system with an appropriate tune.

Laughing, enjoying just being silly with a friend for a while

Well, if a man isn't around, sometimes a girl just has to do it herself or she misses out, does she not, Miss Brit?

Winking and twirling Miss Brit under her arm then dipping her near the bar

I think a refreshment is called for, do you not? Although no booze for me tonight, would rather sleep in a bed than on the pool deck, snuggly as the blanket was...

Eyes bright and cheeks pink from the exuberance of their dancing, Brit nods

Men are wonderful things but we can cope on our own, at least some of the time.

She snickers, running a hand back through freshly shortened locks.

Do you know? I've been hankering after an ice cold Dr Pepper for days now, this seems the perfect opportunity.

She smiles to see the drink already on the bar almost before she's finished speaking.

And you, lovely? What do you fancy?

Pulling on peacock patterned blue & green silk kaftan, sitting on barstool and staring into eyes of grinning barman

I do believe I shall let our friend here choose my drink, although I do have a particular one in mind... let's see if he is as clever as he...

Eyes widening as a tall glass of lemon, lime & bitters with freshly shaved ice is placed proudly on a coaster

... thinks.

Leans against Essie's shoulder for a moment with a wink for the talented barman.

Oh, he is good...

Sipping her drink through her straw, she lets her eyes leave his charming face and follow a string of lights until she's looking back out over the ocean, her back to the bar.

...this whole place is pretty good, really.

A new guest arrives. He emerges from the showers wearing large swimtrunks, never comfortable with tightfitting Speedos. Still winded and sore from his jog, he limps more than he walks to the pool and looks furtively about.

CANNONBAAAAALL!!!!!!!! *KER-SPLASH*

He emerges, laughing and spluttering to find an impossibly large glass of ice water waiting for him. He gulps down half the glass in one go and lets out a contented 'AH!' as the water quenches his thirst.

Brit, I love this place. :)

The view of the ocean is blocked by a figure moving towards the pool, his identity isn't known though until he surfaces after an impressive entry into the water, spattering the decking immediately around the pool with water in the process.
She raises her glass towards him as he downs part of his own drink.

Hello, you! And thanks, I rather like it myself!

Whooping and applauding as the new arrival leaps into the festivities with a splash

Well done, you! One of the best ways to get into a pool, I think - just jump straight in there.

Holds out hand

Nice to meet you, I'm Essie. I do believe I'm a fan of your work - can't wait to find out what's happening next in Hostage Rescue and The virgin and the girl :)

Gosh. Thanks for the nice compliment. :)

He blushes a little and smiles.

Do tell me if you ever want to collaborate on a story. As for the threads you're following, I shan't reveal anything. ;) But I'm glad you enjoy them.

Raises his glass and salutes the two beauties by the pool.

No spoilers? Aww, nuts. That's okay, Goldenbraid wouldn't tell me anything either, tee hee ;)

Does little happy dance

Wow, that's very nice of you re the writing. I'm about to start collaborating with someone soon, actually. Never done it before so bit nervous but will see how it goes.

Drains glass, collects bag and takes one last look at the beautiful fairy lights and sunset

I'm afraid I must leave you all to frolic, drink and dine without me. Time for me to go and stretch out in my cabana and sleep under the stars. Good night all, thank you for a lovely evening.

G'night lovely! Sweetest of dreams and I'm sure we'll see you tomorrow.

blows a kiss Essie's way, before ordering another drink for herself

All that talk of threads reminds me that I owe you a post, don't I?

smiles guiltily

I haven't forgotten, honest.

I have a story I think might be a nice romance. If ever you are interested writing with me I can wait, Essie.

Brit, don't sweat it. Our thread is simmering along at its own pace, and your responses leave me wanting to be a better writer. I will lay off the actionman bits soon, promise. :D

Sits down in a recliner and sips on a nice non-alcoholic drink.

Steps out meekly onto the deck, feeling a little chilly in the evening. Takes off pink flip-flops and sits by the pool, dipping toes in tentatively.

He nods and smiles at the starryeyed one.

Hello. If you're not in the mood for alcoholic drinks, the bartender makes a mean basil-and-crushed-strawberries drink.

He leans back and lets the sun caress his battered body.

Mr Brutal, good evening - I've seen you around, but haven't properly introduced myself. Top bombing, by the way.

Ms. Starry-Eyed, it has been far too long. Essie tells me the barman mixes a mean cocktail.

*launches straight at Des, attempting a flying hug/tackle that ultimately ends up in pushing us both into the pool*

~Freshly showered, wearing a gauzy white dress and silver sandals I wave shyly to the new faces~

Hi ladies and Jean. . . is there anything better than eating grilled food under the stars by the ocean???? Good evening, all. :)

*resurfaces and grins at PS, swimming over to her for a watery hug*

Ugh I'm so sorry I've been gone for so long! Bad things happened but then I went to Canada and brought back some syrup so I'll be sure to cook you some pancakes in your residence =D

The pool is just perrrrrrrrfecttttt

<Resurfaces, spitting out about a gallon of pool-water as discreetly as possible.>

Um...yes. Good to see you too, Starry-Eyed, and Serpentine and Sidney and all. Those grilled langoustines with lime smell absurdly delicious. Shall I get a round in? Salade Nicoise?

Sorry to hear that bad times happened, Starry, but impressed that you cheered up with a trip to Canada. Now that's classier than crying into a bucket of ice-cream, if a little pricier.

*shuffles feet awkwardly* I was a teensy bit enthusiastic over our reunion it seems . . . sowwi

The ice-cream would have done the trick too, but indeed, the trip was definitely worth the expense. It did displease me that I was a few weeks away from the legal drinking age over there though *grumble* Not that that stopped me . . .

How've you been!

Hello DesEsseintes. Would it be okay if I called you 'Des'? I have ran across you as well. Pleased to finally be properly introduced. :)

StarryEyed: Take it from me, go for the travel rather than the ice cream. (I've just been diagnosed as diabetic  )

PrettySerpentine! Heeeey! :) *splashes water on the irish lass*

Sidney_1: I am very pleased to meet you. :) Pull up a chair and we'll watch the grill together, and I'll try to refrain from cracking any 'shrimps on the barbie' jokes. ;)

I'm well, thank you, and of course all the better for seeing you. I've met some lovely people here, though. I'm glad you subverted the ridiculous Canadian drinking laws - and they have strange special shops in which to buy alcohol, as if it were some kind of social evil instead of a delicious substance no more harmful than a butterfly.

<Enormous tropical butterfly blunders into Des Esseintes' face, causing him to lose his balance and tumble into the pool again.>

Dignified, that's how I'd describe myself. And poised. Definitely those two.

splashes water back at NB

Cheeky!

Glad to hear you had a nice holiday, Starry. I hope the bad stuff wasn't anything too serious. Anyway, if there's anything I can do, or listen, or offer chocolate and creamy stuff that we can eat and smother all over our faces and make our newly diabetic friend jealous...

giggles whilst eating a huge chocolate eclair that's melting all over her fingers

Oh, look at the mess I'm making...
