The new football thread

Since the NFL season has ended, will anyone be watching the UFL?
I usually tune in a bit during the first week or two but lose interest pretty fast. It’s hard to get excited about players you know little to nothing about, playing in empty stadiums. Plus the weather starts getting nice and sitting indoors watching the UFL not the best option for my time.

But with all that said, I think it’s a great development league for coaches and players.

I'll admit that I haven't watched much. I tuned in a little bit when it was a rebooted USFL and there was a Philadelphia Stars team. If Philadelphia gets a team, I would probably have more interest in it.

Some news from X of possible interest to CarlyAnn

“The Patriots informed four-time Pro Bowl WR Stefon Diggs they’re releasing him after the start of the league year next week, per sources.”

Yes, I saw that this morning. I’m thinking they have their eye on a #1 receiver. AJ Brown maybe!!!

This is complex. It makes zero sense paying for someone that will be suspended (Diggs). So people immediately think...how can they replace him? Where i think much more long term goals...like 2 or 3 years from now. I would sign Maye early. It saves money in the long run. I have very little expectations for the Patriots next year...I suspect a very mid team. They over-performed last year. But they do have decent building blocks. So I would accept reality and write off next year...and shoot for 2 years from now. Like I suggest for all teams...stop focusing on the traditional high reward positions (WR are way over priced) and focus on offensive and defensive line. Control the clock. There is so much talent out there....you don't need the high priced names if you can control the clock. Even i could look good.
