The Official Literotica 2026 April Fools Day Contest Support Thread

Every contest entry I've ever written is connected to the rest of my works somehow. Occasionally it's just an offhanded reference to a name, and sometimes they're only connected via a mention in another story, but shared universes on here are really common.

In fact, the Christmas contest thread was almost entirely derailed for a few pages by a bunch of us discussing this exact thing - turns out a lot of authors who are contest participants write in their own created universe, juggling timelines, characters and settings. Probably because we like making it harder on ourselves so that 1 or 2 readers might notice.

While none of my stories are interconnected, I have made the somewhat tongue in cheek suggestion, in response to yet another request that I write a sequel or a 'next chapter', that all my stories can be taken to be in a shared universe where an asteroid is due to destroy the world the next day. So if we take that as canon, I guess they're all extremely interconnected.

Okay this is going to sound like a silly question but is it dumb that my April Fools Day story is readied for the Humor and Satire category?

I think you'll be joining about 90% of the rest of the April Fool's Day stories there, so not at all! Mine won't be, but it's Non-Human stuff... assuming I write and publish it 😅

This one came up fast. I have a couple of small projects to finish before I can start.

Just for the record, I will not be submitting (at least not intentionally) in the Humor and Satire category.

I've got a draft that I don't like, which will probably need some significant rewrites to make me willing to submit. I have two other stories that I'm trying to finish first, though, so not sure if I'll make this year's contest in time. Fingers crossed.

Someone should write a story that's basically a bunch of cliche porn setups, and then rug pull every one of them. The April Fool's story will be the blue balls they made along the way.

The cash prizes are only for people living/being citizens of USA right?

If it's true, that sucks 🤕

EDIT: fuck it. I went and submitted a story even if I don't think it's that funny or witty :ROFLMAO: just thought I might as well.

If you are in this for the money, I’ve got news for you. You will never get rich trying to win contests. My back of the envelope calculations give me a whopping one to maybe two cents per hour (possibly less) pay rate considering how much time I spend writing and editing and how little I earned winning a contest. Actually, I made exactly zero since I declined the award.

I'm definitely not after the money. More of me thinking that I can't/shouldn't enter because I live outside USA.
Also, who said anything about becoming rich through contests? :ROFLMAO:

“Cash prizes are only available to individuals residing within the United States. Winning authors residing outside of the U.S. may take their winnings in the form of an Amazon gift certificate for the USD equivalent of their prize amount.
Individuals residing within the U.S. may also choose to take their prize as an Amazon gift certificate.”

I got an Amazon voucher as a contest prize. The only problem was that I couldn’t cash it in at my local Amazon store - it was for the US store, which meant that postage chewed up some of the winnings. I bought books with it.

Yeah it sucks for non-US citizens either way.

I'm pretty sure I either got $75 for Amazon.co.uk, or simply bought a voucher for Amazon UK with the US one.
