But not every submission needs to be a romance centered on Feb 14th. Your story could even be in a parallel universe (or in a different planet) if it is romantic, or maybe features the Great Feast of the Love God, Uruburitor.

Thank you. I guess I am a bit worried as I am targeting this challenge as my first story.

I have a love story but it involves a transgender woman. It’s romantic in concept but with the character I feel it would fit the transgender category.

It’s a love found when not looking, love gained, love respected. Sort of a coming out.

As a suggestion, you can expand some romantic feelings on Valentine's day. Say they don't think romance is for them, or they have fruitlessly searched and not found love. Regardless of the reason, Valentine's day can put it under a magnifying glass. Where their woes might normally be a background noise, it comes to the foreground.

All I'm saying is, Gimli's got something about him. Yeah, Legolas, fine whatever. But Feanor is the best elf. And Galadriel tells him to get stuffed. The second Gimli's on the scene, it's all oooh, baby, take my hair! Ooh Gimli, forge it into an heirloom symbolizing friendship between the Wood and the Mountain for all time. Somehow I imagine women buying some hydration lotion to prevent it from drying out. Finish with an anti-aging cream. Fluff it up a bit. Finally make a little cute shape in the pubic hair. Perfectly presentable in public.

So romantic...

I've just finished mine, which I like. It'll take more reworking than the Typical Voboy Story, but then I had an epiphany about the ending while I was taking a shower yesterday and decided to just END IT, cold, right there. I think that ending is either brilliant or stupid; even I don't know which. If I can shape the piece up, the readers will let me know.
