The Old China Pearl Inn

Sitting on a bar stool looking over my shoulder at CG and Mari, a large mug of brew a wee dram of vintage Glenvilet added in hand.

''This ol' wolf my friend, just isn't that well versed in the teasing and causing the dear Lassies to blush. Guess I'm just far too tame a fellow to keep up with a veteran ladies man such as yourself CG.'' ;)

Sorry I missed you Wolifas! As Cg said, we were just reminiscing ...

Wolfias my friend I am hardly a Ladies man but more an outrageous tease that cares very much for each and every one of the ladies that visit the inn. I simple try to welcome each.

Cg and I go wayyyy back ... but I can definitely agree that he definitely bestows care and attention upon all the ladies who frequent the Inn, as he always has ...

*hugs Cg and Wolifas*

We are indeed fortunate to have such charming Gentlemen to lavish us with attention when we visit ... :rose:

Oh no my sweet redheaded nymph we are just remembering days passed.

I blow Cait a sweet sensual kiss and giver her a naughty roughish wink.

If you care to come down Miss.............

with a roughish grin bowing my lips my voice suggestively trails off.

*grins from the darkness of the rafter she lounges upon, wagging a finger at him*

Tsk, tsk, CG. You are such a naughty, incorrigible man. I think I'll just stay up here on my perch. I need to think on some replies for posts.

Popping into the Inn for a evening cocktail after a day of domestic labor... I see Mari sitting by herself and give her a big Hollywood kiss and a enveloping hug.

"Hiya my honey, I'm so glad you're back early from your sabbatical. I love what you're doing with Sophia... I was just going to make a drink, can I get you a scotch?"

Waving to DarkWarrioress and any others who may be about.

Heading toward the bar to make a drink, I pour a Vodka and lime on the rocks and an Oban for Mari and head back to the couches. I set hers down next to her and settle in to wrote for a bit. I'm thinking there's a Writing Challenge post teasing away in my brain somewhere. I just need to coax it out.

I slip from where I had been writing in the shadows. A post finally completed I felt exzilerated and in need of refreshment.

Hi HF I just posted in a new thread! I am celebrating it is the first time I have written in months. What should I drink?

Hi Mari I am so happy that you are back. I hope I am not intruding?

Realising that the Inn is in fact empty I smile sadly. It seems that I am destined to be always a little bit late. It is rare that I catch anyone in my beloved Inn.

I smile happily... my Priest was under production and I was writing again. That was a cause for celebration. I couldn't celebrate with my co-author but I would celebrate.

I searched for a wine I liked and took down the bottle. Settling into one corner of the couch close to the fire i poured myself a glass of the earthy goodness.

" To writing again," I smiled as I toasted. I really hoped Veroe liked what I had written.

Listing my head from my writing, I apologize to yeishia for having my head in the clouds.

"Hello yeishia, I'm so sorry I was absorbed in my thoughts. Congrats on your new thread with Veroe. I've seen you've put a lot of effort into planning it, and I loved you're first post... both edits." Smiling as I raise my drink... "To you, the Lady of the Shadows, may your words flow true and sensual." Giving her a wink and a smile I take a sip in toast.

I blush at his words smiling.

" You enjoyed it really? :)

My last post in a thread was over 2 months ago in in the Inferno House also with Veroe, I have had such difficulty writing this past year. I am very rusty I am afraid.

My last post in a thread was over 2 months ago in in the Inferno House also with Veroe, I have had such difficulty writing this past year. I am very rusty I am afraid.

I did enjoy it. Even though I'm not familiar with the books, I very much enjoyed the different points in time and place Jennifer traveled through as an introduction.

Congratulations to you. If that's rusty, all you need is the small bottle of WD-40 to keep going. ;)

"You are being kind, thank you. I am happy you enjoyed the travelling back and forth, I agonised on how to do this. In the thread we will be doing that a lot. It was Veroe who suggested the time and place titles.:)

~ I pour myself another glass of wine as I try to formulate my thoughts. ~

"You know I watch as people arrive at the Inn and immediately find a writing partner, some times I envy Mari and the ease with which she finds her partners."

Blushing I confess....

"I did take a chance and approach someone. I was summarily dismissed as my style was to flowery for his tastes. It hurt because I always adapt to my partners writing style ..he just didn't bother to check out my body of work I guess...I had checked out his and thought we would mesh. All to there own.":rose:

Blushing I stop talking to take another sip of my wine

" Sorry I barely know you and am rambling, it must be the wine..."

I believe you know me very well, as I know you... and at one point I remember Mari suggesting that you need to be the one to have your writing partners meet your standards, not the other way around. We've all had a boatload of false start threads and threads that die for one reason or another, but when a thread clicks, it's worth it. I know you know that.

So again, for The Priest, I congratulate you, and I've subscribed.

I observe him from beneath my long lashes as my mind sorts through his words. I have never had a boat load of false starts and so suppose that I can count myself very lucky. Most of my threads had longevity it was my ill health that had deprived me of them.:(

Another sip of my wine and I smile. " Yes I do, now that my muse has returned I am hoping to pick up where I left off in many of my old threads both here and on E, I am lucky that my old writing partners are waiting, so I will not have to worry about finding new ones."

I refill my glass.

"Mari is right of course but I am afraid that I am a s shy at recruiting new writing partners as I am at..." blushing my voice trails off.

" Thank you for subscribing ..I shall have one follower:):rose:

Having writing partners who are are willing to work with you and wait is indeed a gift. I'm glad you've found your muse after your illness. The RW always comes first. Having people who are willing to wait and understand is great.

And as far as being shy.... Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck. ;)

Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck.

I blush even more as I shyly ask.

' HF I do not understand , what does that mean?

I refil my glass realising that i have in fact emptied the whole bottle and may be unable to return to my shadows.

giggling a take a sip of my last glass full.

Going behind the bar I refill my own drink and open another bottle of wine, I place it on the side table near her chair as I sit on my own and smile as I explain.

"Quite simply, shy or not, if your co writer, or potential co writer doesn't know a good thing when they see it, fuck 'em. There are lot's of good writers here, you can find the right one for you, as you and veroe and your others partners have found." Chuckling as take another sip of my refill and smile at the not so naive shadow nymph.

I watch him carefuly as he replenishes my wine listening intently at his explanation

Smiling back at him I take another sip of my own drink.

iI am guessing that you are right HF. The right partner definatly makes writing in this milleu so much easier.

How many stories do you have right now?

"The right partner makes all the difference." I sip thoughtfully, "Currently I have only one story active, but I can safely say there I have four going with two active writers. One has been on a planed sabbatical, the other is dealing with some unplanned family issues. Both of them have been wonderful to write with and I look forward to their complete return. Others writers I've worked with have fallen off the map without explanation, and though I miss them, I hope one day they will return to lit and our threads. If they don't, I understand. It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid."

Smiling sleepily as I sip my wine I curl uo on the end of the couch I am occupying pulling a blanket over me.

I do not think that I shall make it to my shadows tonight.

I used to have 10 story threads. Now I have three active here on Lit. I might resurest 2 more on E. FD is gearing up another one and so... Lord. i hope my muse dies not go into hiding again. Perhaps I should ply her with alcohol as you do to Mr. Murphey?

I can feel my eyes getting heavy and I carefully place my glass down on the table

I am slip sliding away and hope HF will forgive the fact thatI am fast falling asleep..

Apologies to you both yeisha and Fun! RW took me off suddenly and I was unable to return until now ...

MMmm ...

Savours his kiss and hug as always ...
As you know I'm very much enjoying the Sophia-Hawk dynamic.
That girl is definitely in for a challenging time methinks...and many thanks for the Oban! Yummy!

A belated hi and warm hugs for you yeisha!
You are NEVER intruding! I'm always happy to see you and chat ... and congratulations on taking up writing again. I haven't had chance to read as yet, but I will!

It is far from easy! No one sees the negotiating that goes on 'behind the scenes'!
Even with Fun it took a while before we settled upon an idea that suited us both.
My top tip is that once you find a co-writer you 'click' with, then go multiple!

*ggls*

That is why I have 3 threads with DanFS, DK and Fun (If you count House of Fun) respectively!

I believe you know me very well, as I know you... and at one point I remember Mari suggesting that you need to be the one to have your writing partners meet your standards, not the other way around.

Yes, I did and I stand by that and all Fun's advice after this post!
It's not even about standards, it's about compatibility.
I guess for me I go through creative phases where I put a selection of ideas out there and see what interest I get. I do prefer a co-writer with something to contribute though and love to be challenged.

*Looks pointedly at Fun and giggles*

Though I do have my share of co-writers who I've written with in the past and then happily find another project to share after those stories have completed or run their course, I've often written with 'newbies' ... Cg helped set me on my way writing wise when I was new and I do enjoy doing that too ... most go on to write many stories with many people, but it's always good to take a chance on someone who is new to Lit ... Fun and cravon stand testament to that!

Laughing... if you want we can introduce your muse to Mr. Murphy and let them have a drunken frolic, but I will not accept any responsibility for the outcome. :D

Three is a good place to start. I think six is the most I've had going at any single time, but not for long.

And if you want, I can introduce your Muse to Mr. Murphy and they can have a drunken horny frolic together, but I bear no responsibility for the results!!! :D

Mari's right, it's all about comparability. You and Veroe seem to work very well together and now that you've found your muse again it should easier to keep going and find others to write with as well. I know you'll do great yeishia.

I had fallen asleep on the couch with Timothy away there was no one to carry me to my room. I had awoken in the middle of the afternoon far to late to make the morning coffee...

I smiled at the hug Mari had given me,happy to see her back. I listened intently as she imparted her words of wisdom, knowing instinctively that she was probably right.

Still....I hesitated to approach new people, once bitten I guessed, Now my muse was back it was my intent to resurrect the threads that had been left languishing in the archives if my writing partners were still willing.

Laughing... if you want we can introduce your muse to Mr. Murphy and let them have a drunken frolic, but I will not accept any responsibility for the outcome. :D

I giggle at the thought of my muse and Mr, Murphy,

"Perhaps it might be a fun idea for a light hearted story HS ."

"Veroe and I have written for years, it is an easy symbiosis of writing styles. plus he is a slow poster, as am I ...Two posts a year I think is about our style"

I giggle at my attempt at a joke "I am of course joking. We mesh well and I love him dearly. We have three threads at the moment; the Lady Phoenix Reborn, The Inferno House and of course The Priest. He was also part of the cast in The Vassal Academy, a group thread of mine that lasted more than two years I think....then I got sick and it fell by the wayside.

Realising that I am rambling my voice trails off and blushing I move to fetch myself a drink. sleepy and tossed I really aught to head home for a slower but...

"I thank both you and Mari for your advice and kind words." :rose:

Take care of yourself yeisha! Sorry I keep missing you, but life is crazy-mad around here again ... when isn't it?? Find people who appreciate you is the bottom line ... and if they don't ... then it's their loss and would be a waste of your energy ...

*Hugs her again before grabbing a coffee in an attempt to waken fully and literally hit the ground running.*

{i] I slip my old rucksack from my shoulders once more back at the Inn. Another weekend of lectures behind me. I am a bit weary as I pour myself a mug of coffee and smile as I see I have toe very naughty posts to answer.[/i]

morning to any who may be about or hiding in the shadows.

I blow a kiss to the rafters and give the saucy little redheaded nymph who haunts them a saucy little wink

Morning Cait.
