or in the hands of the person belaying.
True, although I would have more faith in the person responding to a call of "stop" than the bull, unless of course he puts his hand up to his ear as he calls out "pardon", oops.

Hmm not pretty, but still at least most of the risk is in your own hands
a friend recently told me about a guy he met that had just got well after an accident that put him in the hospital for months - in that case, there were a few too many people there, and some guy got confused which was his rope, and by mistake got the other guys rope out of where it was secured - as the other guy was just going down, i.e. abseiling...

oh and another thing... i went abseiling once a few years ago, a friend of mine forced me, and i almost peed my pants... though i'd agree it is probably safer than the bull running thing...

though i must say, as horrible as any death in such a thing is, 13 deaths since 1924 can't be so much, percentage wise... i am sure there are other things that are worse... my worry would rather be, whether this is animal friendly or not...

Not if this is what might happen. :D
hehehe... it is funny - after all he seemed to get out quite alright (he was even walking more or less normal, though i don't have speakers on my computer, can you hear his voice there? is it still normal?)...
