Used to spend 1-2 days a week split between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Sometimes on day trips from Sheffield. 5 and a bit hours up, 6-8 on site and 5-6 back down again.

I don't miss the drives but I do miss the places and the scenery on the drives up and down the 68.

Kept seeing all these places I wanted to visit as well but never had time to go. Keep telling myself I'll have to head back up when I have time.

Suppose to go home in june but I had to invest in a new pc so my trip has been delayed till october. Never mind absence makes the heart grow fonder!

The closest I came to scottish cuisine was a Tattie Scone on my sauage sandwich from the van outside one of my client's premises :)

Though there was a very nice restaurant in Lasswade that I used to use. The mood music left a little to be desired but the food was great.

Venison, langustine, grouse, salmon, loads of other fresh fish you can eat well there but we all know the fried mars bar stereotype which I've never sampled. The most disgusting thing i've seen is a ried creme egg!ughhh:eek:

Fried... Cream... Egg...

I can't even begin to comprehend the mind that would create such a dish.

and yes, I know there is a huge range of fine dining in Scotland. I made a habit of the Aberdeen angus steak pie with mustard pastry. But I'm not very adventurous with food and not particularly fond of fish :-(

Venison(Doe) in a heather and red wine sauce served with mashed tatties, blue cabbage and chestnuts. Nice

so you travel all over the place then? The M8 surley britains worst mentained motorway!

Yeah, as a traveling consultant I can go anywhere. On some weeks I have been north of Aberdeen one day and in Southampton the next. Those are not fun weeks. Lots of time sitting behind the wheel.

Been bad this week with the rain. spent several happy hours standing in traffic on the M1

That's why I generally try to avoid motorways. They're all shocking. But the A68 via darlington, Corbridge, Otterburn, Jedburgh and Lauder was always a great run especially on a summer evening.

The Inverness to Ullapool road is pretty mental with amazing scenery we used to deliver in a van up there must be one of the wetest places on earth!

I like a road that I can unwind on if I've had a hard day at work. something to power down with difficult corners.

Alas they're few and far between because the Government keep sticking little red signs up with numbers of 50 or less written in them.

Good thing about the highlands is that you've got 1 cop for a couple of hundred square miles! But it is deliverance country. Banjo playing in the back gound.

:)

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to keep looking round here then. All things considered I prefer making people squeel rather than being made to squeel myself!

Right, time for bed. got 2 long days of humping boxes ahead of me.

Bleh!

Afternoon all!

Done with the move. Killed my back. I was in at 7:30 and by the time the others arrived about 9 I had about 70% of the office boxed up. So I am claiming credit for everyone being saved having to go in tomorrow

Go me!

Skint I can understand. Been trying to support 3 people on 1 wage for the last 8 months or so. More cash heading out than heading in.

we've managed thanks to savings.... but by gods it's been tight. Severe limits on what I can do in my free time.
