Pawnshops are often good for this sort of thing and also, charity shops often have jewellery with hallmarks that the myopic biddies who run them haven't spotted. Trick to any bargain hunt is rummage frequently and don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. Antique places are also a good place to look for something a bit different. Keep checking back on pawnshops and places like that, they'll have a lot of throughput on the run up to valentine's day.

Best of British. :rose:
Thanks, i'll go into town as soon as the snow's cleared up and it isn't thundering and g-d knows what (it thundered, rained, hailed, snowed, was sunny, cloudy, you name it we had it) anyway, i think there's a pawnshop just by my bus stop so i'll have a look.

Awwww..
All our snows gone - most of it has anyway (snowmen are still alive though! :D )

** sends you a cookie **

Our snow froze overnight then started to thaw in the sunshine today but its that thick that its not melted away yet.

And now its getting colder and going to freeze overnight again.

And in other news, I didn't get that nursing assistant's job, but the woman said they were very impressed with me and that if another position were to come up, apply again as I'd have a very good chance.

Well that's not entirely bad news and if nothing else, you've had a chance to hone your interview technique.

I'm ok. I've got 2 hours before I have to go to bed to be up at 3am tomorrow to drive to Bristol... I love my job :)

Weather here is ok, thawing whihc means theres lots of ice which made the drive to work slow going this morning. I like that they have changed from us having snow all week to no more snow till maybe next week. One day weather forecasters will get it right!

I can't believe you were actually allowed to drive anywhere! Buses were all cancelled here and the local news said "don't go anywhere unless you really really have to"

Stupid forecasters!

Hey Harmony, Sorry about the job but a good review will help next time.

MyLaceratedHeart. I'm doing ok, trying to wind down.

Its not that I'm allowed, its more not having a choice. right now we are mostly just pushing to get in every penny we can get. Today was a trianing day which is very lucrative for the company (today I earned £1300 for the company rather than the typical £395 so not really an option to drop out)

If the weather is bad tomorrow I'd still have to drive to Bristol. for a safety advisor I'm willing to take stupid risks for my job... and my firm seams to be willing to ask us to do them. 60 hour weeks, 16 hour days... they're all common place.

Wow!
I guess it isn't really an option then..
IMHO it seems sort of strange that a safety advising company is asking you to not be safe as such.. i dunno.. it isn't my job so i'll shut up...

:) it's nothing that a few of us aren't asking ourselves Marissa.

there is disquiet in the ranks :)

Shouldn't be. I get a night in a hotel in Birmingham (area) and a company paid meal at the end of it.

Really should try to find someone to share it with :p

mm free food! :p

i think you should i'm owned so that rules me out...

:)

I'll find someone I am sure. I have 70 weeks of Bristol / Birminham back-to-backs to do.

I should do

nice dark bars, dark alleys and quiet places.... *thinks whistfully.

Thanks, i tried argos, they have plenty of gold ones but nothing silver in my price range...
H Samuels is the place whose ring was about £70 i think.....

Thanks anyway, i think this is one of those impossible (or very close to impossible) tasks...

I guess i have to keep looking...
