Thanks Lally :)

It's only 2 nights but it's Rome. Oh I am going to be SO very very skint.

But fuck everything.

... and especially me :D

Really happy for you Seven xxxx

Might be introducing someone here myself soon! :D

Bah... Be damned to the depths the lot of you for being happy in this place. It's an affront to tradition!:mad:

;)

Seriously glad the two of you are doing well with your new peeps :)

Well, it's monday again. I have made some tough work choices over the weekend and now have to act on them. But first.... The Prof!

What's going on with work Mal? That sounds pretty serious (and probably something I should do)

mostly that this, self employed malarkey isn't what it could be. it's time for a change I think. a big one.

Being self-employed is a strain. But being employed has different pressures as well. Just depends which you feel more comfortable with.

There are times I would love to write my resignation and walk away from here. Go and work for someone else for a change - let them take the pressure and go home at night without a second thought. But then I remember I'm the only one who can't resign....

Seriously though, I understand how you feel - at least for me, there are others who I can rely on whereas you're on your own. And I know it can really get on top of you. *hug*

Morning everyone. Hope you all have a good Monday. Mine started with a few laughs so hopefully that will continue :D

It's mostly a case of my work not being regular either in terms of contracts or in terms of hours. The plan for being self employed was to have more control over my life so I can plan things around.... but that's not happened. I'm being used as a pitch hitter when someone has a gap rather than being able to get guaranteed work... And I'm still doing stupid hours for it.

The idea of a 9-5 with a regular pay cheque is very appealing. I've done consultancy for the last 12 years now and I am quite sick of it. :)

My older brother was a deputy head in a high school for many years, got tired of it and decided to branch out into educational consultancy. The first year was okay because he got a government funded contract for part of each week but it wasn't renewed because of cutbacks.

So ever since, he's been in the same boat as you - no certainty and called in at the last inconvenient minute due to bad planning, travelling at stupid times and working ridiculous hours. So I fully understand where you're coming from.

Hope you manage to find something that suits you better :)

All change. New job, new GF (eventually).

Keeping my beard though! ;)

At this precise moment, I wish I had a beard...or was a man.

Bombing down the motorway to Ashton under Lyne for an appointment and felt something wrong with the car. Stopped and realised I had a puncture. I'm not strong enough to undo the wheel nuts so I'm currently being treated like an idiot by the men at the garage.

So I'd like to be either strong enough to change the bloody thing myself, or masculine enough to command a modicum of respect from these clowns

If the garage is part of a chain, or trade association, report the idiots. I guess it wasn't as spectacular as the tyre failures in the F1 Grand Prix yesterday!

Was the beard ever negociable? ;)

I know what you mean, work has taken over my life and is making me unhappy. Hope we both find something good! X

Until my 30th I was clean shaven. Finally convinced my wife to let me grow one... there is now no turning back :)

Much happier with than without.

And yes, though your need is a little more pressing than mine. So lets hope you get something sorted soonish!

No of wasn't. And the speed of the tyre change was a lot different as well...

I am a man. I have a beard. At my worst I weighed close to 20st. I got a puncture a few years ago and even jumping up and down on the tyre iron I couldn't budge the wheel nuts. :)

But I bet when YOU walked into the garage to get it done for you, they didn't stand around smirking at you...

I wish I was a big, busty blonde with long legs..***** must be so much easier...

Boobs help, I have to admit to using them to my advantage.
Heck, if I have to carry them around all day, I might as well make them work for me! :D

The RAC man couldn't get them loose either. In the end we had to borrow a short section of scaffold pole to get leverage.

An over-torqued airgun we assume.

That happened to me once. The mechanic who had changed my brake pads overtightened all the nuts. So he had to drill them all out and replace them.

I do apologise - I know I should be putting this on the 'be as boring as possible' thread.

I'll try to do better tomorrow...*slinks off in shame*

Morning all,
There is a distinct chill in the air, looks like summer is over!
Today my daughter has an induction at her new school, I am worried! The two hour treasure hunt had her in floods of tears.
She has been in a small village infant school until now, this school is huge by comparrison and she is still only 6! :(
Be still my frayed nerves!

It's horrible having to send them off into the big wide world alone, but she will cope. It's Mum who needs the TLC :) xx
