The Wallflower and The Star Athlete (closed for Poprockz)

Monday rolled round and Adrian rose with a smile. He had biology class first and it meant seeing Olivia again. He had a big smile on his face as he walked to class, getting a few curious looks from other students. He didn’t know them, but they knew him of course and he never looked this happy. But he didn’t care what anyone thought.

He got to class and looked at where Olivia normally sits. Suddenly, the smile dropped from his face. Where was she? He looked around the rest of the room, no sign of her. He had to sit as the class was starting. He hoped she was alright. He sent her a text as he sat down. He paid more attention to his phone than the class.

When the class ended, he still didn’t have an answer from her. Fuck it, he thought. He went by her apartment in a cab. As it turned into her street, his heart sank. There she was, on the curb surrounded by what seemed her belongings. He jumped out.

‘Olivia, what happened?’

Her tear-stained face looked up in confusion as she heard his voice. Why was he here? Oh, he had probably wondered where she was after missing biology class. Still, it was surprising that he had come all the way out to her apartment to check on her. She sniffed and looked up at him from where she sat on the sidewalk and started to explain.

"They found me, and they got me kicked out of my apartment. It's the same thing that's happened to me several times before. I just- I just thought I could live under the radar and it worked for like four years." Her eyes started to tear up again, though she tried to hold herself back. "I know I can finish out the term if I stay at the shelter, but I'll lose my job and I'll have to move when the term is over."

Adrian simmered with anger as he listened. He can’t believe these people had done this to her. AGAIN. What the fuck was wrong with them?!

‘Have you anywhere to stay, apart from the shelter? I can help you move this stuff’.

She couldn’t go back to a shelter, especially with her schedule. He started racking his brain for any ideas.

"No, just the shelter," she replied. "I can make it work though- I've done it before, so it's fine." Olivia wiped her cheeks and stood up, looking around at her stuff. It wasn't much, relatively, but it wasn't all going to fit into that taxi unless they loaded up the backseat as well.

Suddenly, he had a brainwave. Though he wasn’t sure if she would go for it.

‘Ok listen, if you truly have nowhere else to go, I do have a spare bed in my dorm room. I know it sounds a little crazy, but you can’t go back to the shelter. You can’t make your schedule work from there’.

He just hoped she would go for it.

Olivia was so surprised by his suggestion that she stopped crying and stared at him for a few moments, completely dumbfounded. "You want me to live... with you?" Her tone wasn't negative, merely at a loss for why he would offer her such a thing.

Sure, Adrian was a good guy and they were friends, but it was one thing chatting and having a good time and a completely different thing to let someone literally move in with you at a moment's notice. For all he knew, she could steal his shit. If someone saw her come out of his dorm room they might assume the two of them were in a relationship as well, and that might make his image take a hit.

‘Look I know it sounds crazy, but I can’t let you go back to the shelter. I couldn’t sleep at night looking at that empty bed while knowing where you are. Plus it’s only until end of term. We’ll find you somewhere else by then. Come on, don’t make me beg’, he said with a smile.

But he was truly concerned for her safety. He couldn’t live with himself if he didn’t offer to help and then something happened to her.

Olivia didn’t want to be a burden to him, but she didn’t have much of a choice. At least with him she might be able to keep her phone job, and thus would be able to pay him rent. She could refuse him… but she didn’t want to. She wanted to take a chance on him and hoped it wouldn’t come back to bite her.

“Okay,” she agreed, “I.., I really appreciate this, Adrian, thank you.” The woman moved to him and gave him a tight, heartfelt hug.

Adrian smiled as she hugged him, returning it.

‘Alright, let’s get these bag into the taxi’. They loaded up and squeezed in beside the bags. The taxi then took the short journey to his dorm. He helped her lift her stuff up to his room.

‘It’s not much, but it does the job. Make yourself at home’.

She put her stuff on her side of the room, noticing that there were small closets, two dressers, two beds, two side tables, and two desks. That would do. It would be awkward sleeping in the same room as a guy and girl, but hopefully it would work

Her stuff was then unloaded; it wasn’t like she had a whole lot of stuff, mostly clothes. So when she was done, the bags and boxes were nowhere to be seen and the room was tidy. When she was done, she sighed and sat on her bed. “How much is the rent on the room, by the way?” She asked.

Adrian smiled, a little embarrassed.

‘It’s actually free, paid by my scholarship. One of the benefits of my talent. And no, you are not paying me to stay here. I’m just a friend helping out another friend’.

He looked around the room. It might be a little cramped, but they’ll make it work for the few weeks left in the term.

Wow, No rent? That was a sweet deal indeed. Though it made it difficult for her to find some way to pay him back for his kindness. In her life, she had learned that to accept someone’s generosity without offering anything in return was a short route to alienating people; one had to make the other person know that their kindness was worth the effort, as she didn’t believe that she herself was worth such a thing just for being who she was.

“Can I help in some way then? I could clean, or cook or something.” Olivia wrung her hands nervously.

‘You can repay me by promising you will keep up with your schedule. You are doing an amazing thing with your life, so promise you will fulfill on that. And yeah just keep your space tidy and we’ll get along fine’.

Her nervousness was almost unbearably cute, but he knew she needed a friend more than anything at this time.

She was going to do those things regardless, so it didn’t feel like she was repaying him in any way. Well, she’d just have to wait for a good opportunity.

“Okay,” she nodded, “you won’t get in any trouble because of this, right?” The woman fretted.

‘No I am rarely checked on by dorm monitors. Again, another small benefit of being the campus celebrity. Plus I’ve had people stay before and never had any trouble’.

He failed to mention Olivia was the first girl to stay, but that would only heighten her worry.

‘Is there anything else you need to feel at home here?’

That made her feel better at least, to know that her presence wouldn’t mess up his tenancy or anything. It seemed as though they were pretty lenient if they allowed him to have guys and girls over whenever he wanted.

She shook her head at him, “you’ve already gone above and beyond for me. A roof over my head, a soft bed, safety- there isn’t anything more I could possibly need.” Olivia looked at him affectionately.

Adrian smiled,’Okay good. Now I must run, got a track session in a few minutes. Here is the spare key’, putting it in her hand. ‘I’ll see you later tonight?’ He got a nod and gave another smile. He then left for training.

"Okay, have fun!" She watched him go. Now she was all alone in their room, she did some of her homework and set up her desk so she could take calls for her job. Thankfully, he would likely be out when she had to be at work, so that would at least work out. Now that she wasn't paying anyone rent though, should she reduce her hours? It was a thought, but she wasn't sure what she was supposed to do with all that free time in that case. If she didn't reduce her hours though, that would be a lot of extra money she was pulling in with little to no expenses. Maybe she ought to take Adrian somewhere fancy as well... she would have to plan it out.

Due to everything going on, she had called into work to take a couple sick days, so she had some free time. His bathroom had a bathtub, so she decided she would simply take a nice soak for a while.

The rest of Adrian’s day was its usual hectic mix of training and classes. Monday was his busiest day of the week. He was just glad he had two hour window in the morning so he could help out Olivia.
He returned to the dorm around 7pm, his body a little sore from the day’ exertions.

She was laying in the hot, sudsy water, a nice creamy layer of bath fizz on the top of the water hiding her more intimate parts. That being said, her upper breasts were definitely exposed, the nipples being graciously just under the water and hidden from view. Her knees poked out from the water like steep islands, her skin creamy and smooth. With her, she had a glass of sparkling cider she had ordered from a grocery delivery app, among other things. It wasn't alcoholic, but it was tasty and added to the relaxing ambiance of the bath.

Adrian looked around the room as he put down his bags. Olivia was nowhere to be seen, she must have stepped out.

The door to the bathroom ajar, the shower calling his name. He desperately wanted to stand under the hot water for a few minutes to soothe his aching muscles. He stripped down to his running shorts, walking into the bathroom.

What he saw next just stopped time. Olivia was in the bath covered in bubbles. But the only thought in his mind was, Olivia is naked in the bath. The bubbles covered most of her, but the top of her ample, beautiful breasts were on display. Her raised knees almost teased him to look between her legs, her most intimate area just inches below the bubbles.

‘Oh I’m sorry! Sorry, sorry Olivia!’

He turned quickly and went back into the bedroom.

What the fuck just happened?

The two of them had stared at each other for a moment, time having stopped for her as well. When he turned to move out of the bathroom, she flailed and knocked over her glass. It shattered on the bathroom floor and she looked over the lip of the tub, trying to figure out the best way to handle the situation.

However, her cheeks were bright red and she couldn't think straight when she just kept seeing his shocked face as he looked at her, practically naked. Why had she not locked the door?! She supposed she never had when she had female roommates, but she was in his dorm now.

Adrian heard the glass shatter, turning back to the door. But he couldn’t just go back in. God this was a little awkward!

‘Do you need help Olivia?’

How he was going to help, he hadn’t thought through yet. He grabbed the broom from his kitchenette to be ready to hand it in.

"Um..." She looked at the floor, her brows furrowed. The glass was really everywhere. There was no way for her to safely get out without risking injury to her feet. Olivia felt like she might die of embarrassment, but she sank down into the water a little more and called out, "is there anyway you could grab me a broom and a dustpan?"

Adrian heard the panic in her voice, confirming to him that she was as embarrassed as he was.

‘Sure, I have them here. Do you need me to come in and sweep?’

He didn’t really wanted to, but he knew the layout of the small bathroom. If she had knocked a glass from the edge of the bathtub, there was no safe way for her to get out.
