this reminds me of a chick that went to my college. i never interacted with her much but every time i did, it was the same thing as everyone else experienced... she was annoying as hell and no matter how annoyed you behaved around her she always assumed it was you having a bad day because of something else that happened before she came 'round.

you could almost tell her to her face that she was an asshole and she'd just figure you were in a bad mood and tell you that she hoped your day would get better.

frankly, it's because that's not possible.

we're in a position with the space program now where we have to fulfill our promises to the rest of the involved nations to complete work on the int'l space station. we're stuck with antiquated equipment and an agreement to fly until that endeavor is completed.

that issue aside, there's just no way that journeying into space is going to be close to 100% safe... plus the news orgs tend to make more of an issue out of this then it needs to be. the payoff is for the media, if/when something DOES happen, they've already hyped the long shot to the point where they can capitalize on it.
