Things that piss you off?

It's 3:20 am, the temp is 25c and the house is full of bugs, I'm going to hide under the sheets, night all.

Having my friend flounce off in a huff because she's not allowed to hold onto the lead of a skittish horse. She's a good friend of mine but she doesn't think about safety measures even though we explained that first timers don't get to hold onto skittish horses because they usually don't know when to run away and duck before getting kicked or trampled. :p

I'd say she proved your point for you *grins*

when someone i consider a friend makes an assumpition, freaks out, and doesn't just fucking ask me about what's making them freak out instead of blindly going along with the assumption.

I sat at a traffic light for five minutes today because the twit at the front of the line didn't pull up far enough to activate the signal.

The new performance plan for our department. The powers that be/brain trust of idiots, have decided that because our department had such a high number of employees that exceed the standards (i.e. meet standard, beats standard, and the "highest" of exceeding standards) (more so than other divisions of the company), that they had to raise the bar higher for us so that it's harder for us to reach exceeding to make it "fair" for the others.

Where is the logic in that? We are held to an extremely high standard of accountability, more so than the other divisions anyway, so why aren't they singing our praises so to speak and be thrilled that we are all busting our asses to reach the highest ratings?

Instead we are, in effect, being punished for doing a great job. Why aren't they lowering the ratings for the other departments if they are worried about their esteem? WTF?????????

Do you work with my mom?

things that piss me off.... "government controlled by stupid people" for one, the USA now having rites decided by teh catholic plurality, instead of the minorities which make up teh majority. ((laws about gay/lesbian marriages for eg.)) things like that, where you jsut want to go up and smack them across the back of the head for being dumb-asses... but this is just my oppinion, feel free to argue if you wish.

Last Thursday was 2 weeks since I put in for a bump at work and I hadn't heard anything. So, last Friday, I went to check on the status of it myself. The woman who deals with those sorts of things wasn't there and the guy that was there couldn't help. All he could tell me was "try coming back Monday." Dumbass.

it seems every night on the news there's a story about a mishap of one type or another that wound up costing someone their life. the immeditate reaction is to legislate, or in some other way force, the variable that caused the harm to be stopped or corrected or what have you. then the good old phrase, "if it saves just one life..." is trotted out.

look... if individual choice is involved in any way and incompetence and/or misfortune caused the death or injury of someone, screw it. it has nothing to do with the car, weapon, food, or whatever... it has EVERYTHING to do with the person working that car, weapon, food, etc.

if i started my own country there would be two laws:
1. if you're stupid, you die
2. all decisions must be made with the greater good in mind

that's it... everything's covered.

Amen.
At the company where my nephew used to work, one of the guys by-passed five safety switches so he could put his finger under a high pressure water stream used to trim metal shavings off sheet steel. Apparently he couldn't understand how it did that, after all it's just water. The company was held responsible for his missing finger.
I think he now understands how it does what it does.

the alternative, of course, is to make the whole world out of nerf. :D

Did the missing finger end up in a bowl of Wendy's chili?
I think as chili mince goes, it was too fine for that, perhaps more of a sauce texture. Stopped him picking hs nose anyway.

Finding that a couple threads I was following are gone... They weren't moved, they just disappeared. WTF?

Steps!

Two fucking steps! My favorite quilt shop moved to a building with steps up to the main entrance. I was allowed to go in the back way--at the end of a gravel driveway. You ever try to get a wc through itty bitty stones?

Damn it. Makes it impossible for me to go there alone.

Sounds like you needed to buy more fabric from them.

Actually bg have you ever investigated buying fabric on the internet? It's not popular here so I'd get stuff with duty in addition to the difference on the dollar, but I remember ages ago, a friend of mine who sewed a lot introduced me to a number of US websites that sold fabric. The rates were good and fabric very nice. I know it's not the same as getting out and feeling the fabric...but just a thought.

OMG, wickie, I love buying fabric online! With very few exceptions, I have been very pleased with the quality.

I only go to this shop when I need to have everything put together, so it's not a huge deal. It just hit me wrong today. The steps just make it more of a hassle, and I was very disheartened. :(
