Things that piss you off?

ABEBooks is pissing me off because they have yet to refund my money for some books I returned. Also, iTunes is pissing me off because they charged me 9 times for a song I only bought once.

anyone care to spend 10 or 12 hours burning cd's? this is actual burn time now... not 10 hours that include poo breaks, eating, etc.

People.
You have been paying for this stuff for twelve months, you have known how many boxes you were getting for four months, you knew the delivery date two months ago, CLEAN THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR DOORWAY, YOU WANT THIS SHIT UP THOSE STEPS AND INSIDE WITH A SMILE? FFS HOW STUPID ARE YOU PEOPLE, AND DON'T GIVE ME THAT BULLSHIT ABOUT HOW LAST YEARS COURIER TOOK IT ALL THE WAY OUT THE BACK, IT WAS ME, AND I FUCKING DIDN'T. Have a great day and I'll see you next year... :) Oh Merry Christmas to you too... YA FUCKIN' MORON.

Being one of only a few people at work who the new hand scanner time clock system won't work for.

When people mess with mass printing options at the office, and it takes the power of a Morse code expert to reset the machine.

Working in the past with people exactly like the characters from Office Space.

Or when people e mail or call you several times restating the same information, and then you run into them in person, and the same conversation is rehashed for a third time.

Inattentive partners are annoying.

Warning: Long-Winded Rant

Fucking people who won't do their fucking job!

Anyone who's posted with me likely knows about the health issues that my grandmother's had since February. Although she'd struggled with the side effects of the medication that her doctor prescribed as a last resort, she did eventually adjust and the medicine has done its job. For the past couple of months her blood count has been normal.

Her recent medication regimen is two weeks on-two weeks off at half the original dosage. However, we don't know if it's working for her. Here's why:

Revlimid, the medication that she takes, is available through only a handful of pharmacies in the US. Five days before she's due to run out of it, someone has to contact the doctor's office. The secretary faxes the order to a pharmacy in Florida, which sends the med to my grandmother's house via UPS.

Because my grandmother is legally blind and struggles with dialing phone numbers that aren't familiar to her, my mother generally takes care of ordering the Revlimid, as she works at the medical facility that cares for my grandma and it's fairly convenient for her to do so.

Three weeks ago, my mother contacted the doctor's secretary via voice mail, as she normally does, saying that my grandmother needed her medication. She never received a message confirming or denying that the order had been filled. The day that my grandmother was to start the medication arrived--without the medication.

My mother has called and emailed the secretary several more times over next three weeks and received only one response saying that the fax machine wasn't working. Meanwhile, my grandmother, because she felt that she had to do something, started taking the old Revlimid pills, even though the dosage is twice what her doctor wants her to take. Now her bloodwork is out of whack for the first time in a couple of months.

My mom isn't an overly confrontational person, but she wants to make some sort of complaint against the secretary because she thinks that three weeks should be more than enough time to order the medication. However, she's a little intimidated because the secretary is dating a clinic administrator and she's afraid of retaliation. (I used to work at that facility, and nepotism and employees fucking employees are quite the norm, so my mom's concerns aren't unfounded.)

My mom's thinking that she'll contact her own supervisor and ask for his insight on handling the issue. I suggested that she also contact the hematology department's nurse-practitioner because she sees my grandma more regularly than the doctor does. I think she'd be more likely to get results from the NP than she would from the doctor. I don't know if the facility has a Patient Advocate. That might be another way to go.

If all else fails, maybe my mom should let me handle things.

I really, really hope your mom lets you handle this, and I really, really hope that when you do you report back here.

Inexcusable, IMO.

I've heard that she cares more about looking pretty at her desk than she does about doing her job, but perhaps not having to do anything is one of the perks of fucking a boss.

A co-worker of my mother's mentioned that a friend of hers was diagnosed with some type of terminal cancer and given about six months to live. She had a hell of a time getting the secretary to fill out some type of paperwork needed to be done. Not only did this woman have to deal with the stress of knowing that she was going to die and having to get her affairs in order, but she couldn't get assistance from the person who was supposed to be helping her.

It's a hematology and oncology department. The patients are very ill. They don't need to deal with the stress brought about by people who can't be bothered to do what they're getting paid to do.

Jesus.

I'm sorry all three of you have to deal with that kind of incompetence, Eilan. :rose: Apart from the blood count, is Grandma doing okay from the higher dose, or are the side effects back?

She hasn't had the problems with nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, zits, weakness, and loss of appetite like she had in the past. Her hemoglobin levels have actually gone down a bit, but that may have to do with the new regimen. A lot of it's trial and error and two weeks on-two weeks off just may not work well for her.

Revlimid raises the red blood cell count, but it kills white blood cells in the process. Because she's taking the higher dosage again, her white blood cell is down, which means she's at risk of getting seriously ill from minor illnesses.

The other day, the hematology/oncology secretary spent the entire morning emailing back and forth with a co-worker in my mom's department.

what a load o' shit... i'm so sorry to hear that you have this issue eilan. you'd think that, if nothing else, people... professionals... would have enough courtesy, common sense, sense of duty, responsibility and/or whatever else it takes to do something so simple.

There is a special place in hell for these pathetic bastards.

Update of my previous WPMO:

My mother called the secretary today and got a live person on the phone. She was insistent that the lazy ass fax the order to Florida right that minute.

About an hour later, the pharmacy in Florida called my grandmother, which they normally do to ask her about how she's feeling, if she's having any side effects, etc and to let her know that they're shipping the Revlimid out that day.

My grandma mentioned that she'd been trying to get her meds for the past three weeks and the pharmacist was outraged and vowed to call the doctor as soon as she got off the phone with my grandma.

The medicine should arrive tomorrow. :)

That's very good news, Eilan. I hope your grandma starts to feel a little better soon. :rose:

I'd still be tempted to make life miserable for whoever fucked up.

Wpmo

Having to fucking WORK tomorrow for hours on end to try to finish the first mock-up of the budget before I go out on sick leave. In exchange, I'll be NOT going to a craft fair with my BF and his daughter that I REALLY wanted to go to...

The really FUCKED UP thing about this friggin budget is that.... once I get it "done" the way we want it... it will be the end of November, I'll have "actuals" for November, so I can start the WHOLE FUCKING THING OVER again!!!! Some days, I fucking HATE my job,... and I'm more than a bit pissed off that my boss QUIT last month (doing the budget was his job, and he didn't leave good notes....

a'ight... listen carefully... "oh" is not a number... "zero" is a number... "oh" is a letter. got it?

You're not the only one to find Monster to be less than user-friendly. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the sequence in which resumes appear to employer-searchers has a lot to do with recency of posting. But if you edit your resume periodically Monster will treat it as a newly posted resume and move it back up to the front of the dance line.
