Thinkings, feelings and...doings ~ 2013

LT ~ Fuck, it's so good to be home.

Feeling ~ Motivated.

Doing ~ Getting my bag ready for the gym after work tomorrow.

Thinking: My plan is in motion...Finally!
Feeling: Elated, hungry and bored
Doing: Wating, typing and laundry.

THINKING it's rainy and dreary outside
FEELING happy to be inside, warm and toasty
DOING pretty much nothing

T: I so need to be truly loved and not just watch other people who have it.
F: Pretty damn low but filled with a kinda hope. Sad ain't it.
D: On here spewing my emotions for all to see and most likey critize. That part I don't give a shit about. I need a health outlet. :D

THINKING it's too cold and early
FEELING like staying under the covers
DOING pretty much nothing, even though I need to be doing something

I like to think that my imagination is a shiny rock at least. Can it be a shiny rock, Vail?

Unpack them?

Yeah, I'm home now and still haven't done that. Whoops.

Feeling: Tears rolling down my cheeks and the deep emptiness of loss. Goodnight, Starman, you will fall to earth no more.

Oh, sweetheart, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you've gotten to take it easy and had some proper time to recuperate. Sorry about the knee - cats need to roam, after all. Miss you.

Alright.

The Best Picture Award should belong to Mad Max: Fury Road. I get it. I've seen all the nominees. I really liked The Revenant and Inarritu is a genius. But of all the movies in the field nothing left me in awe like Fury Road.

George Miller didn't just make a good movie. He reinvented the wheel. Action epics are tired and constantly retread. I've never seen anything like Fury Road. Not once. Not ever. And Theron not getting nominated for Best Actress is a God Damned Awful Fucking Tragedy of an Oversight.

Fury Road's score is amazing. The visuals are astounding. The camera work is at times incredibly smooth and precise and otherwise chaotic and jumpy - exactly what the story dictates and done elegantly. But what makes this film the best film of the year is how it humanizes people that function like aliens compared to our world and makes their emotional journeys absolutely and entirely compelling. This is remarkable in and of itself - but the fact it did it with a legitimate female lead (Theron without obvious sex appeal, bionic arm, and no romantic interest in the male lead) was bold and honest and perfect.

But what makes this film legitimately special is the absolute scope that Miller takes on. Not just in the action but in the concept. The first Mad Max is a revenge flick. The second is a standard action thriller. This one? This is an epic. This is about an exodus beyond the simple premise of an escape. Fury Road is like watching the half-dozen characters in the War Rig travel through a condensed coming of age.

The Revenant will be the art-house pick because of Inarritu's direction and style. He'd have taken down the house with it if Fury Road wasn't here because it was a great film. But Fury Road was transcendent.

I hope it gets rewarded and acknowledged for it.

And I still think it is fucking embarrassing to the voters that Charlize Theron was not nominated. Un. Fucking. Real.
