This is Forty-Four

Last week, in a word, sucked. I came close to rage quitting my job more than once. I’m more than tired of doing 90% of the work. Hell, I have to psyche myself up every morning just to get out of bed. It’s not a good situation. I do have a possible recourse, but my innate pessimism is making me unsure about doing it.

Even though it’s still Sunday in my neck of the woods, I’m giving you a Monday Moon early. Also, I should point out that this thread will be ending on the 21st of next month. That will be the last day of my forty-fourth year.

Agree, dip your toe into the recruitment circles and see whats about. Even if you don't change it makes the environment a bit clearer

Thank you for the early moon. We had a great moonset over the water a few days ago, just on dawn, so the stairway light effect over the water was there.

Hopefully the closure of This is Forty-Four is to be the prelude of another.

I understand the 'rage quitting', I've been there! I found another job first and then gave my notice. :)

That moon Monday picture is awesome as usual, Drac!

I’m looking to transfer departments. That’s easier than getting a job at a new company, even if the company I work for is run so poorly.

I judge my days by three criteria:

1. Did I get a lunch break?

2. Did I get that lunch break before my fifth hour?

3. Did I get to leave on time?

Yesterday I was 0 for 3, and that happens more often than not. The big problem is we’re understaffed. One guy is in the National Guard and has been training all month, and the other guy has been out since Friday, leaving just me and the boss. And it’s the end of the month, when we’re at our busiest. Not a good combination.

Thanks for the suggestions. Now, for Just the Tip Tuesday, I have a twofer of tips.

Clearly I am attracted to the eye level one. Looking straight and underneath on the curve is a delight.

Oooooooo a two fer JttT!! You spoil us, Drac!!

Full Frontal Friday on the day before a three day weekend. Fingers crossed that today isn’t super busy, and that traffic going home doesn’t make what should be a thirty minute drive take two hours like the last time we had a three day weekend did.

Mmm hmm, our beach traffic is horrendous right now, so I'm staying put! I'll just sit here and stare at your FFF picture!

Yesterday’s adventure.

Back in the World Wars, fighter pilots would put silhouettes of the planes they shot down, or the flags those planes flew under, on the sides of their own aircraft as a kill count. These are called victory marks. I decided that, since I beat COVID twice, I needed my own victory marks. To that end, I had two coronavirus silhouettes inked to the inside of my left forearm. My spouse got matching tattoos on the outside of the left forearm.

My sister thinks this makes it look like we’re pro-COVID, but nothing could be farther from the truth. This was an affirmation of life, and a celebration that we’re both still here, especially considering how close to being a widower I got because of this.

How are things on the job front? And i think its a nice way to commemorate your survival

I put in for a transfer to a different department. I have an interview for this other department on the 12th. Hopefully it will go week, and they’ll let me transfer.

The con is that my hours will change, not sure how.

The pros are more money, I won’t be constantly on the move and not doing as much heavy lifting, and I will be able to take my meal breaks on time and won’t be expected to work overtime on a daily basis.

Seems like a good trade off! Ill keep everything crossed for you sweetie x

I’ll have to remember that.

I’m dragging this Full Frontal Friday. This week, even though it was short, has been busier than most of last month.

Couldn't reply yesterday because we had storms and lost internet, but you're looking damn fine as usual on FFF, Drac!!
Bonus FFF pic!

Standing in front of the fan after getting home from work. We’re in a heatwave.

Same here, it's dreadful outside, skootch over!!

The interview went well. The assessment, however, involved algebra and geometry; two forms of math I haven’t used in close to thirty years. It took a while to shake the cobwebs off that part of my brain. I should also mention that math and I are not friends.

It’s Just the Tip Tuesday, so here’s your tip.

Math was my worst subject in school. I bombed my entry level math test when I was getting into college that I couldn’t even get into a math class.

And thank you. I’m trying to come up with an idea for next week. We’ll see if it pans out.
