Role play idea.

A group of gamers gather for their usual Saturday night game. There are the usual accoutrements: Cheetos, Soda, Pizza, plenty of dice, pencils, character sheets, and all the rules books. But this time, the Dungeon Master has something special in mind. He has visited a hole in the wall used bookstore recently and found a really cool old looking book with all sorts of legends and descriptions of spells and creatures in it. Thinking that it might make a cool reference for his game, he bought it. Now it's game time, and he's eager to unleash a new surprise on his players.

But unbeknownst to him, one of the spells in the old book actually transports the players to the fictional world of their game, and in the process, transforms them into the characters they play. At least physically they are the characters they play. But they retain their own mind and awareness of themselves. They have to figure out what happened to them, where they are, and maybe quest for how to get back to their own world.

Halfbaked story idea.

In a medieval fantasy setting, a small troupe of entertainers/circus type folk of various races take in a stray: a Drow monk hoping to parlay her acrobatic skills into a place with the group. Because she is Drow, most races shun her kind, and she doesn't find much welcome throughout the land. But the thing is, she was raised by a human who was formerly an adventuring monk. He was the one who taught her her skills, but he raised her like his own daughter. So she isn't the typically self serving, power hungry, manipulative kind of Drow. But everyone tends to look no further than her race before judging that she will be trouble.

The little troupe of performers includes an acrobatic act already consisting of a brother and sister elven team. They aren't too happy about the leader of the troupe, a gypsy fortune teller with some actual magical ability, taking on the newcomer.

I could envision this as a group thread, to play the parts of various performers. And so there could be a variety of races and characters. Otherwise, it would be a story about the one person in the whole troupe who gives the Drow a chance and ends up befriending her.

Time travel to the stone age- story idea

Well, the idea I had involves the near future. It's world war again, and this time, it's threatening extinction to mankind. As with all wars, it is a spur to technological advancement, mostly in the realm of cheaper, better, more efficient ways to kill one's fellow man.

But a small group of scientists are working on a time travel device and end up making an incredible break through. They are sponsored by the military powers of course, who want to be able to travel back in time to assassinate the leaders of the country opposed to them. But the scientists are sick of their inventions being used against humanity, and they have a different idea.

They have been working with paleontologists and anthropologists to determine the exact period of time when human shifted from being a matriarchal peace loving agrarian society to being a patriarchal nomadic war-like raider society. Their plan is to send a team back in time before the military can confiscate their invention, to introduce just enough advancement to the more peaceful farming societies to allow them to resist the depredations of the raiders, thereby hoping that they can tip the process of human societal evolution towards a peaceful future instead of a constantly war-like future.

The team who will go back know it's only a one way trip. They will not be able to return, and only two can go, one man, one woman. Each is a scientist in their own right, the woman is an anthropologist, the man is a paleontologist. Going back means losing all contact with their families and loved ones, and never being able to enjoy the benefits of civilization again. But they are both dedicated to saving their species from extinction.

The story would be about how their experiences in 'first contact' and the carrying out of their mission unfolds as they try to adapt to conditions they each have only studied in theoretical ways until this point in their lives.

Their mission might be to simply observe at first until it can be determined how to best make contact. But maybe the mission goes awry when one of them gets killed. (Probably the male, since I don't feel real comfortable playing male characters.) Maybe the female gets captured by the tribe before she can make contact on her own terms. She would be something of an oddity to them, but she still could introduce new things to them, just in a different way.

A 'furry' story idea.

In a fantasy setting, a heroic adventurer or band of adventurers find out about an illicit, illegal gladiatorial slave pit fighting ring run by the local slavers guild. Slavery may be legal in this kingdom, but fighting them in pits for sport and wagers is considered to cruel and inhumane, rather like dog fighting is looked upon in our society today. It is illegal in the kingdom, but very profitable for the slavers, so they hold their pit matches in a secret place in the countryside.

The adventurer(s) infiltrates the slave fighting ring and finds out where the fights are being held. He formulates a plan, perhaps in conjunction with local authorities to raid and break up the pit fighting ring and put an end to the cruel practice. During the raid, the adventurer ends up freeing some of the slaves, or perhaps is offered one or more as reward for his part in helping bring the illegal practice to an end and the perpetrators to justice.

Another possibility is that the raid on the pit fighting ring leads to further information about other slaves held in cruel conditions for training to make them fight, and the adventurer raids this location too. Here perhaps he rescues a slave used to bait other slaves into fighting, and this one is in poor condition, desperately needing help.

Now the race of the slaves could vary, but shouldn't be the same race as the dominant race of the kingdom. I'm thinking of it being a human kingdom, and the races of the slaves include Drow, Orcs, Dwarves, and various other non-human races including several anthropomorphic animal races. These would be sort of like 'furrys' but I envision them as more wild, untamed, and possibly dangerous. These aren't cute little mice and bunnies. I envision them more like leopards, tigers, panthers, wolves, etc.

The adventurer may have earned a loyal companion, or may have a bit of trouble. He will have to figure out what to do with a dangerous person/creature who has been trained to fight and treated very cruelly. Will they be redeemable? I'd be okay with playing the slave as any fantasy race but I think it would work best as a leopard or panther girl.

Or maybe this

Closer to human, or possibly a shape changer, raised as a feral child.

She stops in front of Thyri's shack. A little nervous as she paces the door and finally gathers the courage to knock. Once, Twice.
um.... hellooooo..... is anyone here...?

She stares at the address scrawled on her notebook. She printed this time damnit, She better not have written the wrong address...

I've a question to ask... and um. I was told I might find answers if I asked here.... um... but they're a bit... embarrassing?

Her voice gets softer and softer as she speaks and finally mutely waits at the door and hopes the proprietor is home.

*The little heart shape in the door is my peephole, and gives me an excellent view of my visitor, another friend from elsewhere in the Lit realms. Opening the door with a welcoming smile, "Please, come in, VT, and have a seat. There is plenty of room here. It's like a Tardis, but not for the same purpose." ;) :D

She perks up as the door opens. Someone's home! A Tardis? She doesn't press the question, and makes a mental note to go look it up later.

I think you're gonna be my new story Wiki, with how often I'm coming to you for answers....

She grins as she sits and fingers her notebook.

I hope you don't mind.

Not at all. I think I have some inkling of this question. Would you feel more comfortable having a private discussion?

I take it Chronie briefed you? Private discussion is probably good. I could PM you my YM?

Nice. Did you roll those stats randomly? *chuckle*

those stats from Arcanum?

Yes. A couple of the attributes like Luck and appearance are modifications we added when I played the game. I'm just used to adding them in. For luck, we just rolled one D20 and whatever it is, it is. If we ever had to roll a Luck save (Sort of a last ditch catch all saving throw) We'd roll our d20 and try to get our Luck score or lower to make the save. 11 would be the average.

She stops by the shack to leave a message, her body is still trembling from the aftermath.

I wanted to say thank you for the advice the other day... I'm not sure what my body makes of this strange new feeling. It wasn't bad. There were some moments that were amazing. But when my body stops shaking and makes heads or tails of this strange feeling I'll let you know.

Either way, thank you for the advice so that the night didn't end in disaster.

I sincerely hope it opened up a wonderful new experience for you, but it isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea, and that's okay too. But be proud of yourself for trying it at the very least. Now you know and don't have to wonder.

Anytime I can help in any way, you're welcome here or to contact me in chat. :rose:
