Tihmmnmmish's Cuddle-Friendly Fireside Threadcast

i've been to vegas a couple times. haven't had any good experiences there, but gambling was ok. before each trip i set aside money just for gambling. it turned out not to be a problem. i would sit at the roulette table and play the same $20 for hours each night. PA has a new casino near harrisburg. i been there once-- not so easy with my PTSD. but all they have there is slots.

pretty many slots

depression sucks.

I've just been going through the new and newish poems and found you had quite a few tucked away in there Lady so I've been commenting. The one that gets my greatest admiration is 'Electro-Convulsive Therapy?'! Wow well done!

Thank you, Annie. It's funny, but that is my least favorite of my new ones. lol It often goes that way, doesn't it?

Wait until you see the limerick i submitted last night. LOL

I look forward to that then
I had two go up today the muse grabbed me by the throat and said "WRITE YOU BUGGA"! So I did!

hey, that's much better than when the muse disappears on ya. you know what i mean? Sometimes, I search high & low for that bugga.

I will be reading yours.. I saw them, but I got distracted with my Tell me about Harvard thread in the AH. I do appreciate how you often read and comment on my poems. (((Annie)))

The muse got very bogged down with the illness as I think shows to some extent with the Survivor Challenge piece but I'm a lot happier with the last two especially as I ended up reading some very interesting stuff about Shakespeares playhouse which was originally on the outskirts of London because the then Mayor decreed there was to be no theatricals permitted within the heart of the city!

Many, many years ago, I spent a fortnight in London. I still remember how amazing it was to see everything. Maybe that is something somewhat unique to Americans. You guys have a rich, and extremely old history. Not that American history is absent, but I can imagine that I am not the only one in utter awe when seeing centuries-old landmarks in other countries.

We seem to have a habit of tearing down stuff we put up not long ago.
Here in Houston the Astrodome, so-called 8th wonder of the world, has already been left behind. They're wondering what to do with it, now dwarfed by Reliant stadium. Yankee stadium now gone, Wrigley Field still remains (but now has lights). The pre-Columbian cultures north of Mexico seemed to prefer wood and other organic materials over stone so their legacy is limited (and not helped by the cultural imperialism of Manifest Destiny).

Heard something back there earlier, thought it was deer, because they loiter around here anyway... but it might've been a bear. Weird feeling, thinking there was a bear just outside while I sat in here and pecked at keys.

We have Listed Buildings which covers a multitude of structures which I am told can be a right pain in the butt sometimes if you happen to live in one but at least makes sure our heritage is still standing!

Here there's a National Historic Registry or something of the sort, along with various local constraints. Likely a lot looser than in England. In Texas along the roads we have little historical 'monuments'. I used to stop and read them, but they consist mostly of just a sign and a paragraph. Only slightly more interesting than a survey monument (latter is valuable for a survey, of course). Sometimes they get destroyed, too; leading to a break in data.

Apropos of nothing ....... when are you going to put up an avatar? Maybe show us what you look like ....... actually I could aim that at the hmmmeister too!
