Seriously, if I had a target pasted on my forehead, you'd tell me, wouldn't you? You wouldn't let me leave the comfort of the hearth that way, right? geez... worse than spinach between the teeth...
 
There is a serious dearth of basic civility in too many sectors of this otherwise wonderful site.

I'm at a loss. I consider myself a basically encouraging, friendly person. I was thinking that I need to disappear until the target fades. It's too easy for me to get sucked into the negativity right now.

I was considering just doing the recommendations and otherwise avoiding the forum for awhile, but hell, even a simple observation made in my recommendation got picked the hell apart and blown way out of proportion.

sigh *lights another one*
I sure hope this tacky glue dries fast enough for me to finish my project tonight...

Actually, inspiration for the literary arts seems to go away during the summer; better for the chillier months. And if you think about it, "fireside" anything doesn''t really go with summer either. Maybe Poolside or Lakeside would be better for this time of year. Iced teas and suntan lotions and shades... Well, I'm gonna go do some fingering exercises... for smoother glides over the fretboard.

That might help until things cool down. Perhaps commenting on the negative assault provides that individual with the feedback he/she wants.
Remember when you were a kid and would get called names ? Not responding/ignoring would tend to diminish their occurrance/

I did as much as my final projects that I needed to get done today. What's cool is that I have the house to myself for the next 3 days, so I am hoping to get both projects done or near finished by the time my kids come back home. Then, I have 3 weeks off.. woohoo!!!

Maybe I can actually make some progress on my ebook or graphic novels during my break.

I haven't read any of the other threads yet (I came here first :)) so I don't know what our anon friend has been up to, but I hope a couple of my comments on your poems help to counteract some of the poison. I should have something up today and I know it's nothing special so don't go getting excited so I am wondering if I will attract any weird attention on it!
Don't let Anon chase you away 'someone else' had a vendetta against Bijou and finally managed it, don't let us forget the nastiness of that or let it happen again

Yes. The planets can be broken down into two groups:
rocky (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars) and gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn , Nepture, Uranus).
Only earth has plate tectonics, both Venus and Mars also have volcanic activity (as do some of the moons of the gas giants, but not silicate melts). I attribute earth's tectonic difference to the presence of liquid water, aiding in crustal differentiation and the corresponding density differences which help drive subduction.

Again, something in the air.

For a while it's been a frustrating concern to do something more tangible. Something to make that I could physically hand someone. Didn't really care what, since the loves cross into several territories; but this is a small town and the internet's handy and its potential reach is mind-blowingly vast. Even still and so, the face to face interaction is missing, and I've long wished for a more concrete sort of direction.

Well. Yesterday, someone came along who helped put my acoustic back into commission (so far so good at least). Out of great gratitude I offered to record a few tunes for this person, featuring of course, the old acoustic. I interpreted the reply as a go-ahead to put something together. So now I have something to do. A direction. Something I have the ability and the tools to make and to give to another. Even though it isn't really a job, it's a start, maybe something will sprout. Word of mouth maybe. It's a good feeling nonetheless.
 
One day I will look at the TV and say I used to talk to those two guys before they got so famous ....... and you will look at me on same and say I never knew the one hitting the president over the head with her banner!!
