Tihmmnmmish's Cuddle-Friendly Fireside Threadcast

When I was stationed near there in the WRAF some students painted black stripes on it and turned it into a zebra!
Oh theres another one as well of a giant man with a huge cock

I recall seeing other figures cleared to chalk,
perhaps a man, but not a cock.

Maybe if it had been a woman
then remember it I can

Annie has just created a stink sticking up for her rights! Enquired about a cruise and then asked for our discount as we have travelled with that cruise line before. Told no discounts it's already highly discounted. Soooooo I said fine will get back to you and phoned cruise line direct and complained! They said yes whatever the price you are entitled to extra discount advised to phone again and make sure to get the operators name. So I did that got the same bumff no discounts but now I had ammunition. Guess who got her discount? wellllll it's £55 off per person worth complaining about. Awaiting call back they are checking my story hope the return call doesn't get lost in the system!

Let me tell ya something, Annie. I have trouble sticking up for myself. It's something I am working on. Sometimes, you just have to force yourself to do it. Good to hear you took the initiative and followed through like that.

I had trouble with University of Phoenix. When I was taking classes there, my financial aid advisor missed the deadline to file my financial aid during my last class before my transfer to Art Institute. She wanted me to take another class and pay for that class so she could file the financial aid for my last 2 classes. She said otherwise I would owe over $4K. I spoke to her and her supervisor about it. I didn't feel like I should have to pay for another class and delay my transfer because she made a mistake. I went ahead with my transfer even though she and her supervisor warned me that I would owe over $4K. I got bills from them for that amount. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). A couple weeks later, I got a response from University of Phoenix's complaint dept. that they concluded that it was not my responsibility to pay that balance and they cleared my account. So, it was well worth the trouble of standing up for myself!

Good for you girl!
Before I married Ron you wouldn't have believed I was the same person. I was married to a man who would go without a cup of coffee if there was no-one there to make it for him. I remember him doing the washing up once in 21 years and that was only because we were on a group holiday. The paper was hanging and peeling off the walls, he wouldn't let me drive or work and created one hell of a fuss when I signed up to do some voluntary work and didn't speak to me for over a month just walked out of the room if I spoke to him. I had his elderly mother living with us who I was supposed to help look after although shes the one had to cook and clean for him when I was too sick. At those times he kicked me out of the marital bed and made me sleep away from him by myself.
Then along came Ron I was ripe for the picking we weren't supposed to fall in love but he believed in me, and when we were found out I fought tooth and nail for him fought dirty too. My ex had no chance and his wife didn't want him as much as I did and gave up.
After suffering all those years of degradation and neglect I swore nobodyyyy would ever ever put me down again.
Ron laughs and says he taught me to stand up for myself and now he's paying for it !!

Fabuous pantings by the way

Brrr! Nippy out there...
yeah, sweater, kindling, hot goodies.

Think I finally hit into a happy vein. Developments could see many new and hopefully at least somewhat vivacious little wiggly fingers.

Yeah, now it's coming on the time of year better suited to comfortable rambles. Summer just doesn't fit.

Chloe (my dog) and I took a slow wander down the road today and I was glad of a fleeced jacket brrrrrr

Yeah, the slow road wanders.
Well we got a cold spell that was on the sharp side a week or so ago, knew it was the official signal summer was gone. But lately it's been quite nice, chilly but sunny. It won't last. It's a gift. Better grab it.

There were nuts everywhere but only acorns and conkers within easy reach unfortunately ...... it's a conspiracy lol all the chestnuts and hazel nuts are out of reach

For me, fireside might work one day, but poolside the next.
A couple of days ago we were over 90 F, now a bit cool, keeping below 80,
and starting out in the 50s. Ideal for me is starting out around 60 and getting up to 80.
Hope we have a good bit of that, rather than just hot or cold.

Do you have different temps from us or something? 80 is cool?!!

80 isn't cool, but not particularly hot, either.
a 20 degree swing is normal, so it averages out to about 70.
A little bit cooler is OK, but its nice to have short sleeves and no jacket all day.

It's averaging out around high 50s here and have to wear a sweater in the evenings when it drops to 40s would you cope lol?

I don't know sigh you work like mad for days on end trying to get a particular form poem right then get the comment that 'this poem doesn't seem to have stretched the poet much' .......

I could manage that - do have jackets and sweaters after all. When I was going to school in Colorado there often would be quite a temperature swing - cold in the mornings and warm in the afternoon.

I know, sometimes a lot of work doesn't get appreciated. The only bonus is when a quick little poem becomes a minor hit.

What sort of temperature do you consider being one that you have to wear a sweater? The reason I ask is a while back I was on a cruise that went from Fort Lauderdale through the Caribbean to Europe and while we were in Spain we went out on one of the ships tours. Although it was a bit breezy we considered it pretty good weather and lovely and warm (we were in shorts and T shirts) but one of the staff who had never been to Europe before was shivering with cold even with a jacket on. She said she had never expected it to be so dreadfully cold!

I think the people that make disparaging remarks about form poetry have never actually tried to write them! Everyone on here should have to do all the form poetry issued on Survivor lol

I'd probably not wear one if the morning started out around 50. I grew up around Chicago, so know about cold. I think different people have different temperature sensitivities - some people need a sweater in the office.

And I think working with forms helped my poetry overall.

I'm usually a chilly morsel and like hot temperatures but one year we went to Vegas in June ....... never again!

Last summer we went to Vegas in August - quite hot, but at least dry. Same conditions at new skywalk over the Grand Canyon, nice on visit to South Rim in Park (elev > 7000 ft). Temperatures in Chicago were pleasant this year, but Chicago can be hot and humid, too.

We had to go round the back of the airport to pick up our transport and that's where all the ducts were blowing out hot air on top of how hot the place was I couldn't breathe!
Heat was a good reason to keep in the casinos though with their air con..... well thats's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

a few interesting developments lately, some confirming what I knew but forgot and never figured out what to do with the knowledge. Too bad they'd have to be typed to be told. Because the desire to share is great but the desire to type is far less great.

I had to speak to my ex today about national insurance/pension stuff but you know when you are talking to someone on the phone and telling them things you usually get some sort of interaction even if it's only oh and mm and oh dear ...... with him nothing dead space, I had to ask him if he was still there twice it was like the line had gone dead! Says he's never had another girlfriend let alone getting married again seems once was enough, I bet he still doesn't realise what he did wrong or perhaps he knew he would never find another slave! He sounded just like a grumpy old man and I'm pretty certain the only friends he has are ones he works with. What on earth will he do when he retires?

Experimentation on a live specimen bears a fruit.

Finally feeling comfortable under a broad umbrella, though I've lately struggled with indecision whether to continue the Horrendous series in 'poetry' or stick a stretched out section or two in one of story categories. So in the meantime decided to work it with prose and if I decide to go with the poetry maybe draw a little poetic language from the prose.

Well, hearkening to the thread about cycles, I tried to exert conscious effort with a few things, namely the mood factor. Like, this morning, after a short walk with the dog out in the outdoors, I got really excited about going into various paragraphs and anticipating a pleasure akin to walking down an unknown road that promises a new delight each step of the way. And it went that way, until just a few minutes ago. I actually felt the fizzle. Instead of going back to the work I made myself recall the previous thoughts, what brought the mood to a sudden fizzle. Also, what started the good mood. That was easy: being outside, all of the sense-texture-morsels, like sucking down airy energy pills.

The other, the stoppage took a little more thought, but the effort paid off: it was a very brief entertainment of wondering what others would think. It wore such soft shoes when it entered I didn't really pay it much mind. But it hung around and I began to look at it more and began to converse with it.

And the mood was gone.

I almost tried to force it back, but instead I said, "no. Stop. Just stop."

So I stopped.

Try browsing the outside buffet again.

Well if this isn't poetry nothing is .......

okay, so I'll keep lickin.
The original idea was to mix things up: do a little lickin, then a little strokin, ride a little, poke a little, back to lickin. But if the lickin's workin... then I'll keep lickin. Sure.
