To oust the Dalai Bama (peace be upon his holy name) as titular head of the party. There was a thread started somewhere around here that has a link that will explain everything…

To oust the Dalai Bama (peace be upon his holy name) as titular head of the party.

But, he isn't, no more than Carter or Clinton is. The custom is the same in both parties: The head of the party is the sitting POTUS if of that party; if not, then the Chairperson of the National Committee.
