What were the highball and pint in the hands of our illustrious thread members tonight?
Well with the warm weather upon us & beer consumption up it’s Original Coors( knot their “ lite swill”). Come fall it’s Octoberfest, Irish Red’s, IPA’s & Porters. Have some good local craft breweries here in the Valley. Sam Adams is also a good choice, as is Sierra Nevada. Slainte 🍺

Port City in Fairfax had a good coffee stout but have not seen it for a while. Devil Backbone has some good brews. There are a few good ones but mostly I find IPAs a bit too hoppy for me. There use to be a beer garden on Rt 7 in Tysons Corner but the building of a high rise kicked them out and they never relocated anywhere that I could find. They had some good beers and a really good soft pretzel.

When I was a kid I remember when Coors could not be bought east of the Mississippi. I have no idea the reasoning but I remember when Coors finally was able to come east. Coors was then the beer of choice for a while because of the novelty. I like Coors. For the hot weather of summertime I enjoy Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. It is light, crisp and goes down easy in hot weather. I don't drink lite beers. It is like drinking water with a little bit of alcohol added.

Yes you are right about it being only west of the Mississippi. It was just a regional beer up to the mid 80’s or so. My parents would visit relatives in Arizona & bring me back 2 6-packs in the late 70’s. They moved here to the Valley when they expanded, one of the reasons was the groundwater in the area... so much for the “ Rocky Mountain Spring Water” in their slogan 🤣
Yes Devils Backbone produces some fine beers. Been to their brewery a number of times, a positive experience. Slainte 🍺

You know what tonight is? It is QVC night, In the Kitchen with David. lol See what kind of kitchen gadgets they got for sale.

Everyone seems to have gone back into hibernation but it is getting warm out so wake up people. What happened to titusfabulous? Where did she run off to?

Maybe she hasn’t recovered from her “ highball experience “ from a few weeks ago. Trust she is all right. Beautiful weather here in the Valley this weekend. Doing my “ Volunteer Gig “ today. Will be enjoying the porch tonight. Slainte 🍺

Is this your volunteer gig where you help young ladies achieve a state of lustful bliss?

🤣🤣That, Good Sir only happens on rare occasions, generally at music festivals & when I’m “ kilted up”. Today’s venue is more military historical in nature. But I have noticed a certain percentage of ladies are quite well educated in that field. Sadly, most, if not all are accompanied by a male companion...... will now retire to more porch with an “ adult beverage “ & enjoy this wonderful summer like evening. Slainte 🍺

Yeah, I cannot see too many single women coming to a historical military event on their own or with another female friend. You might volunteer at the Virginia Wine festival to see more single ladies.

It was a nice day out today. Hopefully you enjoyed your adult beverage on the porch. I grill shish kabobs for dinner for my outdoor activity this evening.

You do realize it is spring and the time to be coming out of hibernation, not going into it. I saw my first hummingbird of the season so the warm weather is coming. :)

Yes indeed. Have noticed butterflies the past few weeks & the past week or so newborn ducks & geese on our walks. Have yet to see a fawn. Despite the small tornado here in the Valley things are looking good. Another good weekend shaping up. Enjoy. Slainte 🍺

Wow, had a tornado there. Hope there was no damage to your home or property. I once tangled with a tornado when I lived in Colorado. I was camping on the flat lands along the front range. The tornado warning siren went off so packed the family into the car and drove a few miles down the road to a Walmart. Dropped them off at the front and then I went and parked the car. As I was walking back to the store, the wind hit me in the back and luckily just forced towards the door. I would have been hard pressed to go against the wind. Once inside they had everyone lie down under the clothing racks. The tornado went by about 1/2 mile away. It rattled the building and it sounded like a freight train was going overtop the store. This whole thing probably lasted 10 minutes and then everything was quiet. You could see the path of the tornado where it tore things up.

It looks like it will be a nice weekend here too. Take care.

Thanks for asking, we were very lucky, it was about 5 miles East of us. Took down about a dozen power poles all in a row, just a 100 yards from the county fire station. A number of tree limbs & branches,& one small Church steeple ( hmm..). No I injuries. Checking out a newly reopened establishment in town tonight, featuring Blues music 🎶. I’ll raise my pint 🍺 to you Good Sir. Slainte

Definitely enjoy a pint for me. Sounds like a fun evening. I just finished cutting the front lawn so nothing fun this evening here.
