Valued Involvement (Closed for Bluntitis)

"Well I've been on my own long enough to at least try to get what I want. Plus working in the diner, I know that most all places have the 'Not on the menu' Items. Just have to either know what it is, or ask nicely."

"I don't think we are negotiating things, I think honestly more figuring out where we want this relationship to go. I think we could have something special. But I know I don't want the help with my legal problems to be in the middle of us."

"For that reason mostly I feel we should just remain friends. The other reason is that it's been a long time since either of us was in a relationship and neither of us want to rush into one"

“Oh, so sensible! You are right … but I wish Margaret will settle your case smoothly. Then it can’t stand between us emotionally. Businesslike it won’t. I pay to help you and have no interest in the outcome, apart from the fact that I hope you get what belongs to you.”

I don’t want to say more about money because it’s not that important. When we stay friends I am willing to support you financially anyway.

When the food comes my beer is finished. I know it’s not wise, nonetheless I order another one. The steak is tasty and juicy, the way I like them.

"I hope she does too, I will learn more after she gets back from the lawyers only meeting. I Have a much better feeling about this now, thanks to you and her."

The food arrives and we both start eating. I'm a bit surprised you order a 2nd beer. My sandwich is just the way I like it, and wine is good. I have 2 glasses of that.
The chef does come out and we talk to him. He's glad that I like the sandwich, he is thinking of putting it on the menu.

After we eat, we sit and share a silence. Something I'm liking about you is that you don't feel the need always be talking. There are some nice moments to enjoy each others company without saying a word. Then you pay the bill, I thank the waiter.

We head out for the walk back home, a little surprised to see that the day has pretty much gone. And it will be dusk by the time we get back home.

I can't help but tease you a little: “At last the chef came out the kitchen to see the complicated customer!” I smile at you. “I admire your persistence in getting what you want. I am still not too old to learn. When I would have been alone I wouldn’t have asked for baked potatoes.”

When we walk away I feel the beer in my legs. I need ten minutes to get my pace back. Do you feel it also?

“How are you doing? Are your legs okay? We don’t have to rush, just keep our pace to be back before it gets dark.”

"I was a little surprised that he did that. But that sandwich was good, and I think it should be on the menu. Sometimes people want a lighter lunch"
Taking your hand as we walk out.
"Do you want to just walk up and down the street? A little window shopping until you get your legs back?"

"I'm good my legs, well you tell me Are they ok?"
Smiling as I turn around in front of you. thinking it's been a long time since I've flirted with a man

"We do want to get back before full dark, but I don't want you to fall either"

“We can hit the road. I need ten minutes to walk smoothly again. That's normal for my body nowadays, especially after two beers.”

You sound a little worried. Most of the time I don't like any of that. But your attention for me is pleasant. I'm getting a little older, but I'm not ashamed of that. Physically, everything slows down, but I can still do everything. I hope to be able to show you that in the future.

"Ok, lets just start walking back. It's always quicker going home anyways, for whatever reason"
Still holding hands we we head back to the trail.

"I had a good time today, thank you. It's been a long time since I've done something like this"

“We can do this as often as we like! It is healthy, cheap and keeps us in shape!”

After three hours we walk in our street exhausted but satisfied. I am ready for today. Just eating and crashing on the couch in front of the tv. I don’t want us thinking part. That’s why I invite you in.

“Sally, I am total loss. I have soup ready in a minute with bread and cheese. I invite you to come over for dinner and to crash on the couch on one condition, that you act like you're at home. That's what I do too.”

"Sounds good!!!"

After we get back and you invite me over for soup and bread, but wanting to crash afterwards.

"Sounds good!! Let me go home, take a quick shower and change out of these clothes. Be knocking on your door within 1/2 hour"

About 25 minutes later. I knock. I've showered and changed into casual clothes, but also carrying a paper bag.
After you let me in, we sit and eat the soup

"Ok, if it's ok. But when I crash on the couch, I'm in my PJ's I hope you don't mind but I brought mine, with a robe of course, can I change?"

“After dinner I take a shower and slip in something comfortable. You can use the guest bedroom with bathroom. If you want you can also stay overnight. I have to leave tomorrow at ten o'clock to give the lecture I have prepared. My flight leaves at noon.”

I'm surprised how naturally this sounds. It's totally fine for me if you stay. The guest bedroom and extra bathroom are practically not used. Occasionally, Vanessa's older sister, Beth, comes to stay.

"Thanks!"
Grabbing the bag I go into the guest room and change. Coming out dressed in PJ's shorts and a button top, with a lite robe over them.

This does feel very natural, and the offering of the guest bedroom makes me feel secure in that even though I know you think I'm attractive you probably won't be making a pass

"Not sure spending the night would be a good idea, what would the neighbors say, but let's see how things go. I'll say maybe"

"Where are flying too??? I haven't been on a plane in years!"

“That looks comfortable! You are ready to relax. If you want you can switch the tv on. The lecture I give tomorrow is out of state. I am reluctant to fly, but it’s a day drive away. On my request the guest university bought a ticket and booked a hotel stay. They honor me with a diner after the lecture. Tuesday afternoon I am back.”

I go upstairs to take a shower. It's nice that you feel comfortable downstairs while I take a shower. When I shower I enjoy the hot water and feel the fatigue creep into my body. When I have my PJ’s and bathrobe on and I walk down stairs, it is as if I am sleepwalking. I'll plop down on the couch next to you and lay my head on your shoulder.

“If you want tea or something else, you will have to make it yourself. I still want to see the news, but then the day is over for me. I am exhausted.”

While you are up in the shower, I pick up the kitchen. Pour a bit more wine for me, then back to the couch. You come down in your PJ's and a robe. Surprised me a bit when you lay your head on my shoulder, but when you say you're exhausted I smile.

"Here lay on my lap, I'll rub your neck"
You lay down and I feel your skin and hair on my bare thighs. Reaching down to stroke you hair rubbing your neck softly

"So I wore the old man out today? " Smiling as I say that, I know I'm feeling the walk too.

"News is good I don't watch it that much, then we can go to bed. I think both of us can use some sleep"
"Do you have to get up early for your flight? Need a lift to the airport?"

Sitting with you amazed somewhat at how comfortable we both seem to be with each other in this environment.

Loves to cuddle. A warm soft hand over my shoulders and back. Muscles relax, eyes closed and stop thinking. I won't let you say that twice. I smile blissfully and lie down on your lap.

“Yes, it was a lovely day but a brisk walk. I feel my legs for now. Tomorrow I am fine.”

It would be nice if you would bring me to the airport. It’s a two-hour drive back and forth. Why should I ask you to bring me. I can park my car near the airport.

“Don’t bother, nice of you to ask, but I can drive there myself. It takes only an hour to get there.”

You rub my neck. Such a great feeling, the tips of your fingers searching for the muscles in my neck and along my spine between my shoulder blades. My eyes closed I sink and almost fall asleep.

Your body is warm against mine, your breath on my thigh somewhat arousing

"Nonsense I will drive you there, and come and pick you up!!! that way we can spend more time and you don't have to pay airport parking rates"

Shifting you so you are laying more on your stomach as I rub you shoulders and back, feeling your muscle tense at first starting to relax.

"Just relax let me rub you. You are tense"

I thought I was relaxed, but you still seem to feel tension. I lower my shoulders even further. That feels better. The contact of your hands makes me long to feel the warmth of your body against mine.

"Well... It doesn't do you much good to take me away. It's an hour there and an hour back on the motorway. Ahhh... but of course I think it's very sweet and cozy if you bring me."

I turn on my back so I can see you. You have a soft facial expression. Partly due to fatigue, but I guess also due to something else, but what ... camaraderie, caring or love? Anyway I feel very happy.

"I think it's time to go to sleep. I will pack tomorrow morning. I don't need much for one night. We leave at ten o'clock so we have plenty of time, I stand up at eight."

I stand up in front of you and kiss you on your cheek holding your shoulders. "Thank you for the lovely day, dear." I leave room for you to decide if you stay or cross the street.

"It is something i want to do for you, I don't mind it. Gives me an extra hour with you tomorrow morning"

When you roll over looking up at me. I look down very content to have you in my lap, and you seem to be more relaxed and ok with it.

I get up and you kiss me on the cheek, thanking me for day

"Thank you! I had a wonderful day. I think I will sleep in your spare room if that's ok. That way when we getup we can either make breakfast here for before leaving, or get something at the airport"

"Besides, I'm already in my PJ's I'd have to change back to go home, and honestly I want to stay here with you tonight"

“Good! Well, make yourself at home. If you want a glass, there are glasses in the kitchen and in the cabinet here in the room. If you can't find something, knock on my door. My bedroom is upstairs the second door on the left.”

I walk towards the stairs. The tv is still on. The guest bedroom is on the ground floor, so you won't get in my way. It’s the nicest bedroom in the house with patio doors opening onto the terrace. It was the bedroom that I had used with Vanessa.

“Good night Sally, see you tomorrow morning!”

I give you a hug and goodnight kiss.
Upon going into the guest room, I realize that it's the master bedroom. I'm surprised, but as I open the closest I see that none of our clothes are in there.
Guessing you couldn't sleep in the room you shared with her, thinking that's true love for you.

Brushing my teeth I slide into the bed, which turns out to be the most comfortable bed I've slept in

I sleep like a baby. The fact that you are downstairs gives me a sense of security. I'd like to see you lying in that big bed. I'm curious if you find it awkward to sleep in a house with me.

In the morning my alarm clock goes at eight. I shower, dress and put some clothes in a weekend bag. From my study I get the text of my lecture and a USB for the PowerPoint. That's all I need with my driver's license, id, phone, and plane ticket. When I come down you are already busy in the kitchen.

“Good morning Sally, how are you? How did you sleep? I slept like a rose. You are my guardian angel!”

I sleep good too, that bed!!! Wow!
In the morning when my alarm goes off, I grab a quick shower, even that is luxurious. Then pull on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.
I'm in the kitchen making us some breakfast, feeling more and more comfortable in the house the longer I stay

"Good Morning!!! I slept great, that's honestly the nicest bed I've every had the pleasure to sleep in"
"Just making us some food before the drive to the airport"

"And trust me I'm no angel!! " :)

“What are you preparing? Can I help you? There is bread to toast and I have cereals and yogurt. We can complete the breakfast with fresh juice and coffee or tea.”

“The most difficult task I have today is to stay out of political discussions. I give my lectures only to explain international law. My options about conflicts in the Middle-East I keep to myself. But I must admit that international law doesn’t mean much to the people living in Gaza en Lebanon. Sometimes it depresses me. Nothing has changed in that region since I am born.”

I shrug my shoulders at you apologetically.

”Let's not ruin our breakfast because of it.”

"I was thinking bacon and eggs, but you don't seem to have any of those. So I've got toast in the toaster and have butter and jam."
"If you could set the table we should be good"

"Politics and religions two subjects that are best left alone. At the diner they have a rule about no political discussions"

"I know very little about whats going on in the Middle East, you may have to educated me on that"

Sitting down to eat, enjoying our closeness

"Just let me know when you want to leave"

“Bacon and eggs is for next time. I will buy more supplies when you stay more regularly. I like toast with butter and jam.”

I set the table and make coffee.

“Especially in these times, it is wise not to talk about politics in company. For me personally it’s most important that the rule of law will prevail. That’s not happening right now. We reserve this subject for an other occasion, okay?”

When the coffee is ready I pour us both a cup and we can enjoy the toast. It's a bit of a scant breakfast.

“We can take my car. At least I pay for the cost of transport in this way. If it’s alright with you to drive in my car?”

"Bacon and eggs sound good, I'm hoping to stay more often, but don't want to wear out my welcome, I like marmalade for a jam"

"I agree totally politics unfortunately is no long a subject that can be discussed civilly"

"If you are ok with me driving your car, I'm ok driving it"

"Shall we hit the road?"
