Variations - Words edition...

Dreams are over (metaphorically and literally) and a new week of poetry has dawned.

I'll keep my voice down for the benefit of the traitorous colonial commoners across the pond. I know they were up late last night...

This week, with July now upon us, the theme of the poems is

Summer

(for hobbits and others from the antipodes and the surrounding hemisphere, it will allow you to think of warmer times 😉)

This week's form is a cinquain (yup, we're counting syllables again this week, sorry).

There are a few versions of these poems, but I'm going for the 'classic' one.

Cinquains (as I'm sure you've guessed if you speak even a little French) are 5 line poems, and there is no rhyming necessary (though as always, you can if you want). The lines contain 2,4,6,8 and 2 syllables respectively, and if you really want to push yourself, the last line should echo the first in some way, although we'll let this slide this week if it helps!

Enjoy the sun (or the thought of it)!
