Thanks for the warm welcome ladies. Are the threads I have with you Huntress, Imortal Love, and Time tracker back on active status? You guys haven't gained too many since my hiatus that reactivating mine would be the proverbial straw on the camel's back for you would it?

The pause is lifted, Sia. Our Star Wars thread is active again, but finish the second response when you can though. No sense in putting you under pressure to get it done quickly on top of the dissaray of your current circumstances. Take your time, I find its always the best to write when things are settled anyway...gives much better results from your writing that way.

A space opera/romance

Starcrossed Fates

Humanity has spread out and explored a fifth of the milky way galaxy setting colonies and settlements on habitable starsystems throughout that slice of the explored galaxy. Some were set up as government funded colonizations based on spreading the booming population of the Earth out among many worlds others were set up by corporations solely to turn a profit. Centuries passed and the corporate worlds are ruled by oligarchy of the uber-wealthy that ensures their power by economic oppression of the worker class and the tyrrany of the ancient traditions of dictatorial police states throughout human history.

The war between the Corporate Worlds Union and the United Earth Alliance Systems has raged across space for one hundred years and all that has been accomplished by either side is a perpetual stalemate and escalating atrocities from both sides.

Now my cowriter will play the captain of an Earth Alliance cruiser that was ambushed and boarded. A prisoner-of-war now on a transport to a corporate worlds labor camp with the survivors of her crew. Most injured and untreated.

My character will be a Corporate world special forces Captain also being transferred on the same transport. From Arlen a world that was devastated by an Earth Alliance bombardment.

The transport suffers a terrible accident that damages the fusion reacter on board and kills the majority of the transport's engineers and my character decides to free the prisoners to help repair the reactor before it goes critical, thus two people the bitterest of enemies, meet, work side by side, and against all that is logical and wise begin to fall in love with each other.

Disney Buys Star Wars
Disney Acquires Lucasfilm

I am not sure how to feel about this.

On the one hand I want to be optimistic and pumped about the prospect of more and new creative blood flowing into Star Wars, a franchise I've loved since I was 5, but....it can go soooo wrong too.....(or it can get even worse, depending on who you ask)

Disney bought Marvel and Pixar and for the most part have allowed those companies to retain creative control and maintain the integrity of their products, but then again....does that mean we'll see a renaissance for the galaxy far far away....I don't know...and can't tell if I still care, even.

I've been knocked off the bandwagon of Star Wars, and not for lack of trying and scrambling to hang on by my fingernails for the past few years as products of debatable quality and dubious events have been routinely stomping on my fingers and a hand in my face shoving me off.....I don't know if I can climb back on that bandwagon again now, and if I do can I do that with the same innocent enthusiasm and confidence and faith I had in the direction of the franchise before.

who am I kidding as soon as they bring out Episode 7 I'll be in line to see it like every other jaded embittered never gonna get back on the bandwagon fan too
