Seeing Cheri come back in, Faith bit her lip momentarily, wondering what she ‘sorted out’, having a pretty good idea, but knowing there was no way she was about to ask the other woman. Luckily Cheri either accidentally didn’t address it or sensed it wouldn’t be welcome.
She chuckled regardless as Honor managed to slip out of work yet again.
“We’ll do whatever we can on the grill, if I get Honor back in I can’t guarantee it’ll get done anyway.” she answered with an obviously mocked look of disapproval towards Cheri.
“I’ll find something much worse for him than husking corn if he keeps dodging” she added.
Cheri laughed, “As long as you don’t use up all his energy I can get behind that idea, the worse the job the better please!”
Even the stunts they’d just pulled she held more on Honor’s head than Cheri, there was something about the woman and her permanently upbeat attitude you couldn’t dislike or hold against her.
Glancing out of the window once she’d finished preparing the food, seeing that the grill was set up, Faith realised she couldn’t put it off much longer, she’d have to go and pretend to be normal, yet again. It was becoming a habit of hers with Kaleb now, act like there was nothing going on with her except her day jobs, act like Jared wasn’t pushing her around, act like they’d never had that unexpectedly amazing night over the phone where she’d cum so hard for him even though they weren’t even on the same continent.
Now she’d make herself act like they hadn’t just had another incredibly passionate moment. Even though it was prompted by Cheri and Honor’s psychic overflow, it wasn’t like it needed that much force, she was confident she wouldn’t have jumped some random stranger if she’d been caught at a bus stop instead and was sure Kaleb wouldn’t have reacted the same way with someone unwilling. That was the problem, the desire was there already, constantly hidden under the surface, at least for her, it didn’t take a lot to force it to the surface.
Hearing her phone sound again she looked at the screen in hesitation, half of her still expecting her siblings to get pulled over or tracked down for their illicit cargo.
“Luckily we’re only about 10 minutes out so fingers crossed we’re good” read Patience's text.
Faith breathed a sigh of relief, not only that they were likely to get here safe in one piece now but also she’d have a distraction soon enough.
“I’ll just take the potatoes out now seeing as they’ll take a while, looks like the rest of the crowd won’t be too far behind.” she told Cheri.
She wasn’t sure how far behind the triplets were, it depended if one of them had got stuck in a longer shift than expected but there’d be plenty of leftovers if they didn’t make the dinner. Taking a breath she headed out again, deliberately ignoring the wall beside her to avoid reigniting the memory.
She saw Kaleb looked more relaxed now, like something had shifted and felt a pang of jealousy for a moment until she chided herself mentally. “Oh come on, you can't be jealous of Cheri who'll get you off as easily as some people will hug” she told herself, knowing how true that was from personal experience. “And what, you're going to expect Kaleb to wait for something you're not even up for talking about let alone offering? Grow up.”
“Hey” she called, hoping she wasn’t feeling a blush creeping up her cheeks.
“You good?” she asked but more as a greeting, moving on before he could answer, not ready yet if he wanted to start discussing what had just happened.
“Thought we’d better put these on now as they’ll take a while” she commented, indicating the potatoes she carried as she started adding them to the grill.
Busying herself it at least didn’t seem odd as she didn’t look at him for long, finding plenty to fidget with as she tried to figure out how to break the tension she felt once again.
She breathed a small sigh of relief when she saw a familiar SUV pull up the drive and looked to Kaleb more easily, now they had something else to focus on.
“Here’s trouble! Are you ok to help them unload, or should I say supervise them like they badly need? I’ll come and say hi but then I’ll cook while you all sort whatever they’ve brought, you’ll be doing me a favor, save me from giving Justice a row. Plus I could do with talking to Pay by the sound of it. You ok to play captain for them for like the thousandth time?” she grinned.
